Attention, pop music lovers and NFL fanatics: Madison Beer and Justin Herbert are engaged! After sparking dating rumors in the summer of 2025, the WWW cover star and Los Angeles Chargers quarterback are deciding on forever. If there's one person I am dying to interview as a beauty editor, it's Nina Park. The makeup artist has painted some of the most famous faces in the industry, including Zoë Kravitz, Kaia Gerber, Sadie Sink and Emma Stone. Hilary Duff is currently on the Lucky Me Tour, her first major headlining tour in almost 20 years. Joining the ranks of Connor Storrie, Hudson Williams, and Christopher Briney, the star has seen how quickly internet fandom can flip one's life on its head. But rest assured, the tall, dark, and handsome brunette from Chicagoland is up for the challenge.

Since giving dedicated book fans the physical manifestation of the womanizing collegiate hockey star Garrett Graham—one half of the lead couple in Off Campus season 1, accompanied by Ella Bright as Hannah Wells—Cameli's career has shifted into high gear. Ahead, Cameli fills Who What Wear in on life after the show's splashy debut, the shrouded happenings of season 2, his future career goals, and his simple routine for those signature curls.

I've seen pictures of you in your high school football jersey with some not-curly hair—how and when did you learn to embrace your natural texture?

I didn't have a natural curl until later in high school—maybe around 18. I started growing it out more. It started getting wavy, and then I would cut it down and grow it out, and it just kept getting curlier.

Growing up, my hair was poker straight, so there was a whole period of time that I suddenly had curly hair and could not figure it out for the life of me, which is why I'm really happy to have Tresemmé on my side today. They make it so easy, so I don't really have to think about it. I just go in with their three new products in the Bouncy Curls line, and it takes no time at all. I can just go about my day. But I've struggled—learning the curly-hair [routine] later in life with no help was difficult.

We just spoke with your costar Stephen Kalyn (Dean Di Laurentis) about season 2. How is filming going so far?

It's great! We're having so much fun. We're all very busy, and we're just really proud of the show. We're working on episodes 3 and 4 right now, and these scripts are really impressive. It's just nice to be back with everybody—the cast, the crew, and our creators. It's been a blast. We love shooting the show.

Kalyn told me that you once called him on a day off just to tell him about your high school football experience.

Oh, I call him randomly every single day, and he calls me too! We talk all the time; we just get along so well. He's from the suburbs of Toronto. I'm from the suburbs of Chicago. We have similar trajectories and stories. We're the same age, we started acting at the same time, and obviously, this show happened to us together. But yeah, I gave a 30-minute soliloquy about my high school football team. He was like, "Okay," and honestly, I've heard him talk about hockey and his hockey teams for hours on end, so whatever!

That's how friendship works! How does this season—both the filming process and show itself—feel different than season 1?

It doesn't really feel all that different. It's almost the same crew, so it was kind of like we took a break and came back home, you know?

Obviously, we're aware of the attention the show has gotten, but that doesn't really affect us while we're working, so the days on set feel very familiar. It almost feels like no time passed at all between season 1 and season 2, which has been really nice. I'd say the biggest difference is that when we're shooting on location, there are more [fans] around.

If you could describe season 2 in three words, what would they be?

Ensemble, love, and friendship. I haven't had time to think of a good three yet, but those three are definitely in there—lemme tell ya.

They definitely count. It must have been nice to jump back into filming after such a crazy press run of a summer.

It was. It was so nice to have work and to be all together right after the press run and the release of the show. We got to come back into our bubble. For me—and I think for them too—having work is a real privilege.

How does it feel to have your career explode the way it did this summer—to not only be in such a famous role but to also land campaigns with brands like Tresemmé?

It's been really interesting. I think a lot of actors hope for the audience that we've garnered now. I feel really honored to have new fans of my work. I'm really grateful for the opportunity that it's presented me—when it comes to my next jobs, when it comes to partnering with Tresemmé and their great line of Bouncy Curls products, and getting to talk about my hair. It's really nice, and it's been an adjustment, but it's been cool. [But] my day-to-day is pretty much the same. All the things I'm seeing with my eyes are no different.

Since you've been acting for a minute now, is there a beauty hack that you learned on set that changed the way you get ready?

Eye patches go a long way for me. I'm a tired boy most of the time, so letting those soak in is totally cool. When it comes to my hair, turning my head upside down and scrunching is essential to getting those curls right. You've got to do your hair upside down a lot of the time.

And if I want my hair to look good, I usually have to use a diffuser somewhere in the process. If I want to completely air-dry my curls, they end up looking incredible, but that takes so much time. Once you get the Defining Cream in there and put a little mousse in, give it that shape, then go in with the diffuser, and set it and forget it, it's great.

I know you're busy shooting Off Campus until early fall, but do you have any other upcoming projects that you can share with us?

I do, but not [ones] that I can share. There's some really fun stuff that I'm looking at with my team right now, and hopefully, we'll get season 3 for Off Campus. In the time between, I'm really looking forward to going to work and shooting some features. There's some fun stuff I can't say, but I'm really just excited to be on set more. I want to spend all my time on set—literally all my time. So hopefully, that's what I'll get to do.

I'm curious—do you guys see the TikTok edits? Are you sending funny comments to each other? Can you laugh at everything?

We definitely can laugh at it. I'm not on TikTok. I'm not on the internet, really, unless it's, like, woodworking videos on YouTube. But there are a lot of pink-helmet videos that go around that we really enjoy. People have really given the pink helmet the life that it's deserved online. I've seen some of the edits of the show, and a lot of them are extremely impressive, [even] just from an editing standpoint. I've seen plenty of it. It's all fun, weird, and cool. It's just wild, honestly.

There's been a lot happening this summer. Between the World Cup, your breakout show, and filming, there's a lot to obsess over. What are you obsessed with right now?

I'm so predictable: It's Chicago White Sox baseball. The Cubs and the Sox are both doing really well right now. There's a lot of good baseball happening on the South Side. I'm obsessed with driving my car. I bought this 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser from Japan. It's this little diesel engine with four-wheel drive, and I love driving it so much. Vancouver is a gorgeous place to drive around, and I'm also obsessed with getting eight hours of sleep whenever possible.

I hear you guys are up early doing hockey practices!

Yeah, we do a lot of boot camps. We are in the throes of filming right now, so when we're shooting, we're on the ice for 12 to 16 hours, which ends up really hurting your feet but being good practice.

The shooting schedule, on top of other fun stuff we have going on outside the show, keeps us pretty busy, so when I know I have a night when I can get eight hours of sleep, I get so excited. I'll have, like, 100 dreams and try to write them all down in the morning.

Speaking of dreams, your life is opening up in big ways these days. What are some new personal and career goals that you've set for yourself?

I really want to wear multiple hats at some point as a filmmaker. I never really knew when the next step toward directing would be, and right now, I'm realizing that if that's going to happen, it won't be in a way that I foresee. … I really just want to go to work as an actor, build out a diverse body of work, play unpredictable characters, and work in different genres and arenas, so right now, my vision is honestly the same as it's always been. I want to do things that are different from the others that I've done.

I've done a decent amount of comedy television now, and I've done some genre films, some drama. I've played in this YA space a couple of times, and I really just want to protect the vision of doing different things and work with cool filmmakers that I like. It's a pretty broad goal, but my goal is just to work. I really love being on set, so that's where I want to be.

On a balmy summer day in late June, Calabrese curls up on a couch in a sprawling downtown Brooklyn hotel room, her face gently sculpted in a flurry of Fenty Beauty. "I feel like she and I have a very similar energy," Calabrese tells Who What Wear of friend and Fenty Beauty founder Rihanna in an Instagram Reel. The reality star and real estate salesperson credits their compatibility to the stars (Calabrese is a Cancer, and Rihanna is a Pisces), though she confesses to being a Fenty makeup stan for years before the duo met.

We asked the burgeoning star for her summer makeup tips ("How does she keep those looks locked in place in the Hamptons heat?" we often wonder), discovered what's on her beauty restock list, and dished on her sisterly relationship with costar Ciara Miller. Keep reading.

First, we asked, What's one beauty product that at least someone needs to have on hand in a share house? I actually cannot think about not living in the same building with her; it makes me anxious.

Your friendship with Rihanna is iconic. What's your relationship like nowadays?

She actually texted me two days ago. I love her. That woman knows so much about my business. She's so sweet, such a good friend, and so thoughtful. She's just always checking in, which I appreciate as a water-sign girlie.

We know Rih's a reality TV lover. Did she watch your season and keep up with you as episodes came out?

She did! She was late to the reunion, though, and I had to text her. She's a big Summer House fan. When we were out, she was introducing me to people like, "Everyone, this is Mia from Summer House!" I'm like, "Everyone, this is Rihanna, period."

Do you remember your first Fenty Beauty purchase? What was it, and do you still restock?

Of course, I do!

"This kind of press tour for a gigantic blockbuster film like this can be quite a beast, [with] traveling international, time differences, etc.," Barose says, which is why skin prep is paramount. He relies on a few essentials to prep Nyong'o's complexion before applying makeup.

"I always start by misting her face with the [Skwálwen Botanicals] Kalkáy (Wild Rose) Refreshing Toner ($65), an Indigenous brand that Lily Gladstone turned me on to during her Oscars season," he says. "It's now my and my clients' favorite. Its gentle, refreshing wild rose scent is so relaxing, and [it's] the best way to wake up all the senses before I start makeup."

Next, he uses the Ziip Halo Microcurrent Device ($400). "I love using this, especially before big red carpet events, like The Odyssey premiere in London, Paris, and NYC. You really do see the difference right away. It's the perfect prep for the complexion so your glow really looks like it's coming from within. The four-minute facial feature gave such amazing effects and only took four minutes, so the hairdresser, manicurist, and stylist don't get mad at me for eating into their glam time," he says.

As an exfoliating step, he uses Lisa Eldridge's Luxuriously Gentle Cleansing and Exfoliating Cloth ($16). "I often soak this in warm water, then squeeze until it's damp and scrub the face, neck, and lips in circular motions to polish and get rid of any possible dry patches before makeup," he explains.

"The silver Christian Cowan dress is very vampy and fierce," Barose says. "I drew inspiration from Hollywood's very first vamp screen persona, Theda Bara in 1917, as well as the later photographs of Marilyn Monroe dressed up as Theda Bara by photographer Richard Avedon from 1958." Barose created "sultry, dark, vampy" eyes and lips with razor-sharp cheekbones. He kept the color palette quite muted and created defined eyes and lips with fresh, glowing skin as a backdrop.

The look's standout products came courtesy of Lisa Eldridge Beauty, starting with the Elevated Glow Balm in High Key Light ($38). "I applied the golden-tone highlighter on the top of cheeks and brow bones as well as the shoulders. It illuminated the skin, adding that candlelit glow," he says.

Next were two black cherry products. First, he used the Velatura Balm in Hellebore Heaven ($36). "The black cherry balm adds a hint of colour and shine on cheeks and lips," he explains. He added the Rouge Experience Refillable Lipstick in 190 Bohemian Cherry ($59) "for a seductive, vampy pout." He finished off the look with the brand's Liquid Lurex Eyeshadow in Liza ($30), a chic metallic pewter.

Paris

"Fun fact: Eartha Kitt also played Helen of Troy onstage in Paris for the legendary director Orson Welles in 1950. [Nyong'o's] flaming-red Chanel see-through dress is giving a bit of Eartha Kitt, so I wanted the makeup to be a nod to Eartha Kitt with her famous Catwoman feline eyes," he says. He paired the eye makeup with deep-red lipstick and gold sparkles on the skin for "extra drama and theatrics."

He started with Chanel's Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint ($72) in Deep Plus and Sublimage L'Essence de Teint Longwear Foundation ($180) in BR152 "for the perfect amount of glow and radiance." Next, he used Chanel's Joues Contrast Cream to Powder Blush in Grenat Profond ($56). "This fresh berry tone adds a hint of flush on the apples of the cheeks," he adds.

Then, he lined Nyong'o's eyes with Chanel's Le Crayon Yeux in 01 Noir Black ($36), added full and fluttery lashes with the Inimitable Mascara Intense ($40), and applied a rich lipstick, the 31 Le Rouge in 11 Rouge Coromandel ($198). "This looks plummy in the tube, but on deep skin, it adds the perfect amount of rich red that complements her fire-engine red Chanel dress without being matchy-matchy or competing with it," he says.

Last but not least, he used Chanel's Les Beiges Sheer Healthy Glow Highlighting Fluid ($56), Hume's Dry Body Oil Mist ($25) (which Nyong'o actually turned him on to), and a little sparkle—Ben Nye Sparklers Glitter in LD-3 Gold, to be exact. He says, "The perfect sparkles! I sprinkled them on top of her cheekbones and body while Vernon dusted it in her hair too."

"The regal gold lace Nicholas Oakwood Couture paired with the Sabyasachi necklace harked back to those glamorous femme fatales from iconic sword-and-sandal films of the '50s, '60s. Think Anne Baxter from The Ten Commandments, Donyale Luna in Fellini's Satyricon, and, of course, Liz Taylor in Cleopatra," he says. Barose created a '60s-inspired look with winged liner, a defined crease, and gold details that were paired with long, feathery lashes and angular, arched brows for an "Old Hollywood screen goddess" effect.

Barose used T-beauty eyeliners from his home country of Thailand, as well as Danessa Myricks Colorfix Pigment ($22) in Goldmine. "I painted this on the inner corners of eyes, center of lids, and a bit on the brow bones," he says. "The gold details added highlight to the eyes and tied in with her gold gown."

Then, he used the I-Envy Classic Timeless Wispy False Lashes. "I love the long, feathery lashes that have spaces in between. They add drama but not density, so the gold on the lids still shows through without being overwhelmed by the length of the lashes. I then glued two of the 12-millimeter clusters from the Cluster Palette ($15) on the outer corners for extra lifts and a feline effect using I-Envy Super Strong Waterproof Glue ($5), which is a must, especially for this sweaty NYC heat wave," he says.

A major part of the look was defined, sculpted cheekbones. For that, Barose turned to a product from a fellow celebrity makeup artist, the Tansculpt Bronzing Contour Balm ($34) by Hung Vanngo. "I was on the Odyssey press tour from London to Paris and NYC with Hung, who's glamming Anne Hathaway," he says. "He turned me on to this [product]. It's so dark and delicious—perfect for sculpting, contouring cheekbones for deep skin tones."

Heat-Wave Makeup-Setting Essentials

It's no secret that The Odyssey's premieres have been happening in the midst of a summer heat wave. Barose says doing full glam in these conditions is every "makeup artist's worst nightmare," as high heat can affect the aesthetic and wear of makeup. Luckily, he has some makeup-setting and shine-controlling staples.

First, he recommends Mehron's TouchUp Anti-Shine ($12). He uses the shade Dark on Nyong'o. "This theater/cinema backstage brand is my go-to for shine control," he says. "A little bit goes a long way."

He also uses a setting spray, but not just any setting spray. It's Mistine's Matte Setting Spray ($13), another Thai beauty brand he swears by. "A little bit of this helps lock it all in," he says. "I focused more on the T-zone, so it's matte and polished while the rest of the face remains glowy in all the right places."

Last but not least, he uses Payot's Absorbing Blotting Sheets ($13) before any necessary touch-ups. "This heat required more touch-ups, which can turn makeup cakey real fast," he says. "I always blot with blotting paper first before each touch-up to keep skin fresh looking in this heat wave."

Passive beauty fans may be hearing Istanbouli's name for the first time, but everyone with a smidge of interest in pop culture has seen her handiwork. The burgeoning artist has been by Charli XCX's side since before the birth of Brat, launching a new era and look for the ever-evolving pop star and inspiring the masses to shift from clean girl beauty to pared-back party girl makeup in 2024. Two years later, Istanbouli has played a prominent role in forging the modern definition of grunge—an unfussy, editorial iteration shaped by her sharp photographer's eye.

To sit in the makeup artist's chair is to be reinforced as an It girl, and notable faces like Olivia Rodrigo, Nara Smith, Madison Beer, and Amelia Gray (we could go on) have been transformed beneath her brushes into sleeker, edgier versions of themselves. To see their faces on her Instagram is to look at the stars, their teams, publicists, and agents with an arched brow of approval. "You know about her too?"

From the smoky, smudged shadows of Charli XCX and Troye Sivan's Sweat tour to Hilary Duff's sculpted features and Camila Cabello's onstage glam, Instanbouli is slowly but surely etching her name among the greats. Are you based in L.A.?

Yes, based in L.A. I'm from Saudi Arabia, and I moved to L.A. at the end of 2021. I came here for college but officially got my work visa by the end of 2021, so I've been here ever since.

What made you want to go into beauty? Was this always the plan after college, or was it what brought you out west?

Where I'm from in Saudi is coastal; it's very similar to L.A., in a way. When I first visited L.A. when I was in middle school (we just came for a summer vacation), I just loved it, so I always knew that I wanted to live here at some point. When I was in college, I actually wanted to get into photography, so I did a lot of video editing, photography, film photography, and animation. I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted to be in the photography world.

Then, in junior year of college, I got really into RuPaul's Drag Race—like, obsessed with watching them do their makeup—and I started getting stoned and sitting in my bathroom for hours doing drag makeup on myself with my friends for fun. Then I started playing around with makeup and buying more, like Urban Decay, all of their palettes. But when I graduated college, stepping into the photography world sounded scary to me because I felt like I wasn't that technical of a person, so I talked to my mom about doing makeup.

Priscilla Ono, who's Rihanna's makeup artist, had a three-day course in L.A. coming up right after I graduated from college, so my mom gifted me a ticket as a graduation present. We didn't expect anything to come out of it. I just wanted to do it, but that was the light-bulb [moment]. Of course, she taught us about the business and the more technical side of [the industry], but she was giving me such great feedback that I thought, "Oh, maybe I could do this professionally."

At just 29, you did not start doing this that long ago!

It's kind of funny because this is my job, and I'm obviously so lucky to do this. For where I'm at and for my age, it may seem like I got a very quick, strong start, but it's all Instagram, to be honest. I've just been doing the Instagram thing for a while.

How did Instagram become a conduit for you?

Ever since I was a high school student in Saudi, I was very interested in photography. I also loved L.A., so I was following a lot of L.A. people, and I was obsessed with Tumblr. I was very much curating a classic aesthetic on my Instagram, and I got really into it during college too. I've also had a public account since high school, which is kind of controversial for a girl in Saudi. I remember my dad was like, "Your Instagram is public?!" So I was very into putting myself out there.

When I started doing makeup, I was just hitting up the L.A. models—the girls that I was following for a while—and was like, "Can I do your makeup for free? We'll just take some pictures, whatever." That was what got the ball rolling because then those girls would post and tag me even though I didn't have a name at that point. That's where Instagram helped.

You and Charli must really jive because you understand the artistic side of things, especially with this upcoming album, Music, Fashion, Film. You two are such a synergetic pairing in that way.

I don't know if I'm not giving myself enough credit (I haven't been doing this for that long, so I still have a lot to learn), but I feel like people are hiring me because of vibes. Charli and I really get along, and it just makes the makeup process easier. She trusts me. I remember the first time I met her. She told me two things, and I still stick by it to this day: "I don't like covering my under-eyes, and I love gray." So ever since then, I've just stuck to that, and she's such an easy person to work with. Beautiful face. It's like a match made in heaven.

When did you first work together? I feel like we were introduced to this grungier look in the Brat era, but do you two predate that album?

We started working together pre-Brat. I was introduced to her through an incredible hairstylist, Fitch Lunar, who's probably known Charli for 15 years. We were at a shoot, and he was like, "Do you know Charli XCX?" I was like, "Yeah, of course." This is what I mean when I say it's all vibes. He said, "I feel like you guys would get along." He told her about me, and then not too long after that, she hit me up to do her makeup when she came out as a surprise guest at a Caroline Polachek concert in L.A. in 2023. After that, she started booking me for little things here and there, and then it really took off when she booked me for tour.

You are literally responsible for the Brat makeup trend. That's wild!

It's also her, though! When I look up pictures of Charli in her past eras, she was really into glam and color and glitter. But for Brat, from very early on, she said, "I just want it to be very stripped back and more me," which is how I love to do makeup. So it's very, very collaborative. Some days, she'd say, "I want nothing," and then other days, she'd be like, "Let's do a messy, black eye." We were just doing it on the fly during tour, really.

Between the tour girls, it's you and Sophia Sinot. It's your work with Charli, and it's Sophia with Zara Larsson. Those are the girls to watch.

Stop it! To be put up next to Sophia Sinot… I'm honored.

It's true! We need a collab someday. But let's take things back to the beginning. What or who comes to mind when you think of your first memories of makeup?

Definitely my mom. I still remember her Chanel lipstick. She loves Chanel nail polish and lipstick to this day. I was obsessed with her lipstick, even the smell of it. She had a gorgeous vanity, and my mom doesn't wear much makeup, but she always had so much of it. I remember grabbing her Chanel lipstick and then, obviously, covering my whole mouth, and then I suddenly dropped and smashed it.

What a chic mom.

When [Charli and I] were on tour or traveling together and I'd wear an outfit, people would be like, "That's so cute. Where'd you get it?" And I'm like, "It's my mom's." My whole closet is my mom's vintage.

You have such an impressive client list, from Charli to Olivia Rodrigo, Nara Smith, Madison Beer, and beyond. Who is still a dream client of yours?

I have a few! I recently worked with Olivia Rodrigo, who was definitely on my list. Love her. And as someone who's half Palestinian, Bella Hadid. Bella's makeup artist, Nadia Tayeh, is also Palestinian, and she's amazing. She's my idol, and they're a match made in heaven. We actually just ran into each other in passing. We were working with two different clients at the same hotel in New York, and I was a full-on fangirl.

Love Hailey [Bieber], and I would also love [to work with] Jenna Ortega. I think she's really fucking cool; she's so stunning and so low-key. Hannah Einbinder too—I love her. Obviously, this is my job, and some days, it's not a personal thing, but I really want to work with people that are aligned in terms of morals and what we care about. That's a big deal to me.

Yes, 100%. Your roster is filled with quite the crew of fashion people too, and you fit right in. How would you describe your personal style?

I love being comfortable. When I was in college, I was wearing Dickies, Converse, and my dad's T-shirts. I didn't tap into my feminine side at that point in my life, so when I moved to L.A. and lived with my best friend… She has the classic tube tops, miniskirts, big hoops, lashes, and a tan. She looks so hot and confident. She started letting me borrow her clothes. At that point, I really tapped into my feminine side.

I love basics—a good pair of jeans, a good jacket—but it depends on what I'm doing. I don't consider myself a fashion girl, but I feel really good when I'm wearing a good leather jacket and a good tank top. I have a lot of Skims, Brandy Melville, and Tank Air and always a good pair of jeans. My mom always says that you know someone has good taste when they wear good shoes, so I'm trying to elevate my shoe game right now.

What are three things on your shopping wish list right now?

I love a good YSL or ACNE Studios leather jacket. I have so many leather jackets. They last forever. Oh, and I want to get ballet flats with a pump from Repetto or somewhere similar. And I mean, anything from The Row—someday, I'll get there.

My mom is the blueprint for me, and she loves to shop. Every time I go back to Saudi, she's just giving me things, like her OG 2001 Balenciaga City Bag, so I don't need to shop. I feel like that's why I don't know if I have good taste or not, because I'm just taking from her.

It's called inherited taste! Who are your fashion and beauty references?

Of course, Charli. She can just go out in a T-shirt and baggy jeans and look amazing. I also love Alex Consani. When she wears no makeup and has her hair down, she's just so chic to me. Alex can look very casual chic or high fashion but always effortlessly. I just think she's extremely, extremely cool. I've worked with her once, but she's definitely high up there on my list of people whose makeup I want to do. It was a long time ago, and I need a rerun.

In that same vein, where do you usually like to shop? In your mom's closet, I'm sure.

My mom's closet, for sure! I'm not much of a shopper, but when I do shop… Charli and I went to Nordic Poetry in London and found some really cute stuff. Lara Koleji and Procell in New York. There's this one store in L.A. that I haven't been to but really want to: Staklena Kuća. Kate Berlant, who is very chic (she's a comedian and has amazing style), told me about that store. I'm more of a vintage shopper, so if I'm buying new things, I'm usually just getting basics.

If my wallet allows it, definitely ACNE. Love The RealReal, also Gimaguas and Paloma Wool. I went to a Paloma Wool pop-up in London and bought a lot. I'm really into accessorizing right now. I love a cute scarf with a leather jacket, a tank top, and jeans.

On the other hand, what beauty brands and products do you love to collect?

I love Dior makeup. I use a lot of Dior on myself, and my mom always had a lot of it. Once I got into makeup, she would give me some of her products to use on myself, and a lot of it was Dior. I love the packaging, their palettes, and I have a lot of them. You know how makeup artists depot products. We take all the eye shadow palettes out of the actual packaging and put them in a bigger palette. I feel like I can't do that with the Dior ones. I'm like, "They're so precious and gorgeous!"

Another brand that's a staple for every makeup artist is MAC. They just have everything! I love their mascaras, lip liners, lipsticks, skin products, all of it. I've been really into Haus Labs and Merit. I have a drawer dedicated to Merit. I gave a Complexion Stick to each of my sisters. We all have very similar complexions, and whenever I'm with them and I have it out, they try it and are like, "Oh my god, this is amazing." So I just keep giving them Merit Complexion Sticks!

Fill in the blank: I feel most confident when ________.

I feel most confident when I'm having a good hair day. My hair is my armor. I like having long hair, and whenever I cut it, I'm instantly insecure, but when I'm having a good hair day—because it's just also hard to manage (I have frizzy hair)—I feel unstoppable.

Last question: What's your star sign, and do you think it reflects who you are?

I'm a Cancer sun, Virgo rising, and Leo moon. I've always felt very connected to my sign. I'm a Cancer, so I'm obviously very sensitive, and I do consider myself a nurturer. I am very much a sensitive girl, and I think Leos are, out of all the fire signs, the more sensitive ones. Charli's a Leo! I love Leos, and they're really fun.

Long hair had its reign, but in 2026, short haircuts are dominating the celebrity trend cycle. Whether bobs, lobs, or bixies à la Zendaya and Gracie Abrams, there's something about a cropped cut that feels incredibly stylish and relevant right now. While I've been collecting all kinds of inspo pics on IG and Pinterest, there's only one that's made it to the top of my summer mood board.

I'm talking about Penélope Cruz's "weekend bob," which she recently debuted while on a press day in Los Angeles. It's the luxurious and lived-in look I dream of getting ahead of a vacation in the Hamptons or Nantucket. Think fresh, effortless, and breezy vibes. Ahead, learn how to achieve the look, according to the expert who created it—celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos.

The Weekend Bob

"The weekend bob is all about hair that feels free and effortless—like you're holding onto the luxury of the style you wore on Friday night, but with a more relaxed finish," Giannetos says. To re-create it, you need to get the right haircut and know how to style it. Luckily, Giannetos is happy to share his expertise.

"Ask your stylist for a soft, textured bob that sits around the jawline or just below it with movement rather than a blunt, heavy finish," he says. "The key is keeping the ends light and slightly lived-in so the style never feels too perfect. I always like to personalize the cut to the client's face shape and natural texture because that's what makes a bob feel modern and effortless instead of one-size-fits-all."

For styling, start with a smooth blowout, then add soft, loose bends throughout the hair to create natural movement rather than defined curls. "After the waves cooled, I broke them up with my fingers so everything felt airy and effortless," Giannetos explains. The trick here is to remember that less is more. "Don't overwork the hair," Giannetos continues. "A few loose bends are enough to create movement, and using your fingers instead of a brush helps keep that relaxed, undone finish. To add extra body, I recommend using the Tymo Curlpro Plus Automatic Curling Iron ($90)."

"To finish, I used plenty of L'Oréal Elnett Satin Hairspray ($16)," he says. "It's my go-to because it gives flexible hold and keeps the texture in place without making the hair feel stiff or heavy. If someone wants to re-create Penélope's fullness, Great Lengths tape-in hair extensions are a great option because they add body while maintaining the natural movement."

Whether she's decked out in head-to-toe Chanel or a bold yellow-and-black uniform of Luar, the star of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey commands attention, and her collaborative, highly engaged spirit shines brightly. You can read the Oscar winner's full cover feature here, but I'm spending time with Nyong'o's hairstylist Vernon François and makeup artist Nick Barose to discuss all of the behind-the-scenes beauty details, from expert hairstyling and makeup application tips to specific product IDs. Below, we're diving into all of the glamour.

"My inspiration for Lupita's hair was rooted in celebrating versatility while allowing each look to feel authentic rather than performative," François tells me right off the bat. "Lupita has an extraordinary ability to embody completely different energies while remaining unmistakably herself, and I wanted the hair to reflect that. Some looks felt sculptural and architectural, while others embraced softness, texture, and movement." Across all of them, François noted a sense of confidence, elegance, and quiet strength. Rather than the hair being the dominant fixture, he wanted the actress's strands to become another layer of storytelling that could work in harmony with every creative element.

"Any look I create begins with understanding the intention behind the image," says François when I ask him to reveal his prep and styling process. "Before I touch the hair, I'm thinking about silhouette, proportion, movement, and how the hair will interact with light, wardrobe, and the story we're trying to tell." Of course, preparation is everything. Healthy, well-conditioned hair responds beautifully, so he always begins by ensuring the hair is hydrated and protected. From there, he tailors each technique to the specific look—whether that involves sculpting, defining, stretching, or creating softness and movement. "Throughout the shoot, each style evolved organically while maintaining the integrity of Lupita's hair and the kinky-straight Afro wig we used," he adds.

For products, François relied on Olaplex's No.5L Moisturize & Mend Leave-In Conditioner ($34) to hydrate and protect the actress's strands, the No.10 Curl Defining Frizz Reducing Hair Gel ($32) to create definition and hold where needed, and the No.7 Bonding Oil ($32) to add lightweight shine and polish. He says he uses these three products on practically all of his celebrity clients and recommends them to just about anyone due to the excellent foundation they create for healthy, versatile styling regardless of hair texture.

Styling tools were equally important, and François's arsenal included a rattail comb, a wide-tooth comb, sectioning clips, brushes, a diffuser, and a medium-sized Olivia Garden curling iron to create shape and movement. "My hands remain my most important tool," says François. "They allow me to respond intuitively to the hair and refine each look in a way that feels effortless rather than overworked." According to François, it's always important that hair isn't treated as an afterthought. "Hair has the ability to communicate identity, emotion, culture, and personality before a word is even spoken," he adds.

When it comes to Nyong'o's makeup, Barose tells me that he always wants to make sure that the actress's beautiful natural glow can show through the makeup, even when it's super dramatic. "The skin is never suppressed by heavy, opaque foundation or powder that's too matte," he says. "When the skin looks fresh and touchable, the rest of the makeup will always look better."

To prep Nyong'o's skin for our cover shoot, Barose massaged Chanel's Sublimage Le Sérum ($560) into her face and neck. Once it absorbed, he added a small amount of the brand's Sublimage La Crème ($505) to her complexion in addition to eye cream, the Sublimage La Crème Yeux ($320), and lip oil, Sublimage L'Extrait Huile Lèvres ($365). He shares that it's necessary to let all of the skincare sit and absorb for about five minutes before patting away any excess.

"For dark skin like Lupita's, it's important to make sure the T-zone stays matte but to leave any glow that's on top of the cheekbones," Barose explains. "There's a Mehron Makeup product made for the stage that I love called TouchUp Anti-Shine Gel ($15). I used a tiny bit of the Dark Tint on Lupita's forehead and T-zone, which allows me to rely less on powder and to control any extra shine." For foundation, Barose used Chanel's Les Beiges Foundation in B140 ($69) and Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder in B140 ($61). He prefers to apply liquid foundation with a dense goat-hair brush, like the premium handmade Japanese Hakuhodo model S5555 ($173). This brush is ideal, he says, because it allows more control so you can effortlessly layer or sheer out foundation. To create a beautiful pop of color, Barose reached for Chanel's Joues Contraste Intense Cream-to-Powder Blush in Grenat Profond ($56), a rich, deep red, on the apples of Nyong'o's cheeks.

Since the actress's wardrobe was quite dramatic, Barose didn't want the overall color palette of the makeup to get too vibrant or too busy, which would compete with what Nyong'o was wearing. Instead, he complemented the wardrobe by mostly using neutral brown tones to define and sculpt Nyong'o's features, which he loves to play up.

"I especially like to emphasize her eyes, lips, or both," he tells me. "I love Chanel's Le Crayon Yeux in 01 Noir Black ($36), which is a rich, pitch-black eyeliner that doesn't turn gray on dark skin like most black eyeliners; Chanel's Inimitable Extrême Mascara ($40), which adds volume and length in just a few coats; and I-Envy Cluster Palette Lashes ($8), which look so natural and are easy to use." Last but not least, Barose used Lisa Eldridge's Elevated Glow Balm Concentrate in High-Key Light ($38)—a favorite from the brand's new Marilyn Monroe collection—as a topcoat for eye shadow.

For Nyong'o's lips, Barose's product arsenal included Chanel's Le Crayon Lèvres in 192 and 194 ($37) as well as Lisa Eldridge's Gloss Embrace Lip Gloss in Sorcery ($28) and Chanel's Rouge Coco Hydra Gloss in 448 Opulence ($45) to add shine.

Barose and François agree that the strongest editorial work comes from authentic collaboration. "Every department brings a unique perspective, but the goal is always the same: to create one complete and visual story," François tells me. Throughout the day of our cover shoot, Barose and François stayed in constant communication, sharing ideas and making small adjustments as each look evolved. Sometimes, François explains, that meant softening the hair because the wardrobe was making a stronger statement or adding more structure because the makeup had shifted the overall mood.

"We looked at the clothes and discussed with Lupita, and since I frequently work with Vernon, we just try to complement each other's work," adds Barose. For example, when he noticed François was going bigger with the hair at one point, he adjusted Nyong'o's eyeliner to be longer and thicker, even adding lengthier false lashes to ensure everything stayed balanced.

"Working with Lupita is always inspiring because she's deeply engaged in the creative process," concludes François. "She welcomes exploration and thoughtful collaboration, which allows every look to feel considered rather than simply styled. When everyone on set shares that same intention, the final images become more than beautiful. They tell a story."

I know it's not just me who turns to celebrities for beauty inspiration. ICYMI, the premiere of The Odyssey took place in London yesterday, and the film's star-studded cast took to the red carpet. Matt Damon, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Anne Hathaway, and Charlize Theron were among the main cast in attendance alongside the recently married Tom Holland and Zendaya. The latter worked her signature press-tour finesse with stylist Law Roach, who dressed her in a Schiaparelli dress hot off the F/W 27 haute couture runway in Paris, and makeup artist Ernesto Casillas, who created her jaw-dropping, Athena-esque look.

The Formula and Shades

Following in the footsteps of the highly coveted Pocket Blush (£25), Pocket Bronze has the same buttery formula in cream bronzer form. There are eight shades to choose from, spanning across a range of skin tones from fair to deep, and the shade range feels really considered, catering to a range of different undertones, too.

The formula contains Rhode's signature peptides, as well as tamanu oil, which gives the formula a creamy slip that ensures it effortlessly melts into the skin with a satiny finish. They're easy enough to dot onto your skin and blend with your fingers, or blend out with a brush. Either way, these creamy bronzers meld with your complexion seamlessly, leaving you with a naturally sun-kissed glow. And as its name suggests, these nimble bronzers are small enough to slip into your makeup bag, making them great for top-ups as well.

My Thoughts

My first impression of the Pocket Bronze is just how easy they are to use. I live in fear of bronzers that are too heavy or patchy, but this lightweight formula has a silky, buttery consistency that just blends so effortlessly into the skin, whether worn on bare skin or buffed over a skin tint. They also pair beautifully with the new Highlight Milk (£28), a milky lumizing highlighter fluid, which I like to mix into my base before applying my bronzer on the days when I want more glow.

I'd describe the finish of these bronzers as sheer and satiny; it's not so dewy that it disappears halfway through the day, but remains easy to blend and gives a hint of glow to your complexion without glitter or sparkle (all the shades are matte, FYI). I've tried hundreds of bronzers, but I'm already willing to say this after testing it for just over a week—this is easily one of the very best I've tried, and I'm very picky about bronzers.

I tried three of the shades, including Sip (for light to light-medium skin tones), Sunbed (light to light-medium complexions) and Bake (for light-medium to medium tones). I have light skin; however, my complexion has been particularly sun-starved over summer, so most days I reached for either Sip or Sunbed, which gave me the healthy-looking glow I've been craving.

I used a fluffy makeup brush to buff the bronzer onto my cheeks, forehead, nose and a little on my eyelids too, and it instantly added warmth to my skin with minimal blending required. They also wear really well throughout the day, and although I've been carrying one in my bag, I haven't felt the need to top up as they're really long-lasting.

In case you hadn't already guessed, I'm already a big fan of the Rhode Pocket Bronze. So if you're in the market for a new bronzer this summer, you really can't go wrong with this one. Thank you, Hailey. The Pocket Bronze was definitely worth the wait.

Ah, summer—the season of sun-lightened strands, vintage Pucci dresses, alfresco Aperol spritzes, and European getaways with your best friends if you're lucky. Summer's hotly anticipated return inspires entire seasonal makeovers from top to bottom, but if you haven't already booked your summer hair appointment, don't fret. There are tons of hairstyles, cuts, and colors still emerging as warm weather slips into our weekly forecasts. The report I'm most excited to dish on is hair color trends because, according to celebrity-loved pro stylists, summer's hottest shades are less of trends and more of natural hue enhancements.

"I think we're moving away from hair that looks overly done and toward hair that feels more effortless and personal," says celebrity hairstylist Marc Ballance. As the style set slowly rejects heavy aesthetic trends from years past, fashion and beauty people are looking inward to find the shades that fit not only their lifestyles but also their true senses of style—not just what TikTok populated on their latest doomscroll. "The common theme is low-maintenance luxury," Ballance adds. "Clients want beautiful color that grows out gracefully and complements their natural hair rather than fighting it."

Lived-In Blonde

Summer calendars book up quickly, leaving not much time for salon touch-ups between plans with friends and loved ones. If you dye your hair blonde throughout the year or like to go lighter in the summertime, the pros suggest opting for a lived-in blonde with natural depth at the roots. "Clients still want brightness around the face, but they don't necessarily want to be in the salon every six weeks," Ballance explains. Take, for example, Bella Hadid's effortless melted blonde from her glamorous excursions during the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. "The goal is color that grows out beautifully and still feels polished months later," says celebrity colorist Jess Gonzalez.

Melted Chocolate Brown

Brunettes, this summer is all about shiny hair and soft dimension. Take Nina Dobrev's espresso locks and scattered fringe from a sunny jaunt in Miami. "Think glossy chocolate, caramel ribbons, and soft lightness through the ends rather than dramatic contrast," says Ballance. "Healthy-looking hair is becoming the statement." The key to pulling off a melted brunette tone is to keep things almost the exact shade all around and thread scattered highlights that are just a few hairs (pun intended) lighter than the natural hue.

Gonzalez describes these brunette tones as ones that "stay within the same color family," creating the appearance of depth and eye-catching shine. "It's less about high contrast and more about creating a seamless, softer color," she states. "It feels polished, sophisticated, and low-maintenance." However, there is one step you should take to ensure your hair looks its healthiest in these dark hues: gloss. "Treatments and glosses are becoming just as important as the color service itself because healthy-looking hair is the ultimate luxury," she explains.

"Milk Tea" Blonde

While most of summer's trending hues celebrate the natural tone of your hair, this particular blonde whispers, "I just got my hair done." As seen on models and tastemakers like Alex Consani and Ciara, "milk tea" blonde straddles the line between warm and cool. Gonzalez describes this shade as a "soft, neutral beige-blonde with creamy taupe undertones," creating a muted, velvety finish that sits just below icy or platinum blonde. "It gives blondes a softer, more expensive-looking feel with less contrast," she explains. "It's perfect for anyone who wants to lighten up for summer without committing to an ultrabright blonde."

Sun-Washed Soft-Lights

Dusted with subtle highlights as if your strands have been kissed by the sun, this color trend tells a story of long days exploring beach towns and sun-soaked escapades with friends and lovers. Ballance calls sun-washed highlights, or soft-lights, the biggest summer trend of them all. Case in point: Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson's (aka H.E.R.) sunlit, softly highlighted curls. "Regardless of whether someone is blonde, brunette, or red, people want a color that looks like they've spent a summer outdoors rather than sitting in a salon chair all day," he muses. "Soft face-framing pieces, delicate highlights, and natural-looking brightness create movement without looking overprocessed."

Soft Strawberry Blonde

Emma Stone is hairspo year-round, but her summery strawberry blonde—a recently lightened hue that she debuted at the Louis Vuitton 2027 cruise show—is enough to make me trade my dark-brown locks for soft red. Gonzalez sees this summer's iteration being "less bold copper and more peachy-apricot blonde … with warm, golden reflections that add brightness without reading overly red." In a way, it mimics sunlight. "It's a lighter, fresher take on red tones that feels soft and glowy [and] gives blondes warmth and shine without looking too vibrant or too bold," she adds.

Summer Hair Color Maintenance

Before you jet off on your summer plans, Ballance has a few words of wisdom when it comes to hair color maintenance.

• Use a Leave-In: "One of the easiest things people can do is use a leave-in conditioner before heading outdoors, to the beach, or into a pool," he states. "Think of it as a protective barrier around the hair shaft that helps reduce moisture loss and minimizes damage from environmental exposure."
• Grab Your Hat: "Wear a hat whenever possible, especially during prolonged sun exposure," he advises. "We protect our skin from UV rays but often forget that the sun can fade color and dry out hair too."
• Don't Wait to Shower: "Rinse hair immediately after swimming to remove chlorine, salt, and minerals before they sit on the hair for hours," he says.
• Use a Mask (Sparingly!): "Incorporate a weekly hydrating mask to replace moisture lost from heat and sun exposure," he instructs. Just be sure not to overuse them, as this can exacerbate oiliness and drag the hair down.
• Ditch the Hot Tools: "Reduce heat styling where possible," he recommends. "Summer is the perfect time to embrace natural movement and texture."
• Get a Gloss: "Schedule regular glosses or toners if you color your hair. They can help refresh [the] shine and maintain tone between major color appointments," he says.

When Mattieu Blazy presented his fifth Chanel collection in Biarritz, France—Cruise 26/27, where models cascaded down the runway in a nautical palette of silk, feathers, and fishnet—we didn’t know that we’d also be downloading summer’s top nail trend. Keyed by celebrity nail artist Ama Quashie, the mermaid-like manicures that completed each look quickly became the talk of beauty editor town for the mismatched color stories and semisheer, dégradé chrome polishes. Quashie previously told Who What Wear that the key to each look was “finding colours that work by clashing as well as melting into one another,” resulting in a marine-inspired kaleidoscope that both minimalists and maximalists can appreciate.

What Are Sea-Glass Nails?

Sea-glass, or the frosted, smooth, semiopaque rocks sometimes found in shallow water or washed up in the sand, is the result of discarded broken glass being smoothed and rehydrated by rolling waves spanning multiple decades. There’s a sort of kinship between this natural phenomenon and this colorful manicure trend—one that celebrity manicurist Julie Kandalec says has been brewing for quite some time. “It's the perfect meeting point of several major trends: chrome, jelly, and Skittles,” she explains. All three trends—reflective chrome, translucent jelly, and multicolored nails—find perfect union in this layered mani. “It’s a way to incorporate all of them in a subtly chic way,” the manicurist adds. “I would describe it as the colors of an abalone shell or an opal (both needing water to form), which ties back perfectly to the ‘sea-glass’ nail [trend],” she explains.

Ocean Blues

One of the standout looks from Chanel’s cruise show was this gradient blue color progression. The set slowly becomes more saturated from the thumb to the pinky finger, with a playful, opalescent chrome turning each blue-variant nail into a shell-like surface. Though the exact shades used at this show are unreleased, these lookalike Chanel variants can tide you over.

The youngest Kar-Jenner sister tends to influence us with just about everything she wears these days, but I’m still thinking about this vacation set by celebrity manicurist Zola Ganzorigt from last year. She demonstrated her process in an Instagram tutorial, starting with a cat-eye base before layering a different pastel-colored chrome on top of each nail.

Pool Glazed

Multicolored nails are fun, but not every manicure calls for them. If you want to keep things a bit more streamlined, try this "pool-glazed" manicure, as described by professional manicurist Mateja Novakovic. The nail artist layered a pale pink hue and blue chrome powder, both from Manucurist, to achieve this translucent, watery look. But if you lament using messy powder, a chrome-effect nail polish works wonders, too.

Mermaid Scales

Another showstopper from the Chanel cruise show. "This is a simple look to do at home—a single swipe of semi-sheer, shimmery lacquer or a shimmery jelly shade will give you that wash of color and slight transparency," Kandalec muses.

Aura Chrome

Sea-glass nails are essentially the trend-stacked outcome of jelly nails, chrome, and the multi-colored mani, but celebrity nail artist Queenie Nguyen discreetly added another: aura nails. By blending a gradient color onto the nail before layering on the chrome, you can accomplish yet another alluring sea-glass effect.

Iridescent Stones

For something on the simpler side, this sophisticated iridescent nail polish makes ocean-inspired nails a breeze to achieve at home. Simply apply two thin layers of Olive and June's Sequin Everything—a stunning sheer blue with a pearly finish—for that sea-glass look.

Textured Glass

This textured look takes marine-inspired nails to the next level. Use a pastel chrome polish or powder to get this ultra-reflective look, or blend colorful hues onto your nails (aura-style!) to get this opalescent effect.

Gillian Anderson is no stranger to the spotlight. The actress has worked in film, television, and theater. She is perhaps best known for her role as FBI Special Agent Dana Scully in The X-Files, although she's also starred in The Crown and Sex Education (my personal favorite). When she's not in character, Anderson is an activist, author, and L'Oréal Paris ambassador.

I had the unique opportunity to catch up with Anderson via video call from the South of France, where she was attending the 79th annual Cannes Film Festival on behalf of the brand. Ahead, read our exclusive interview, in which she discusses her low-key beauty routines, the aesthetic trends she loves and the ones she'd rather go without, and "doing the work" to acknowledge her intrinsic worth.

What does it mean to you to be partnered with L'Oréal Paris? It's such a prestigious global beauty brand.

I was very honored to be asked—not just as an actor but in other things that I do in my life. I talk a lot about women, particularly women's empowerment. This gives me more of an opportunity to do that on a much more global scale than I would if I were just promoting one of my books or doing something similar.

It's nice to be able to talk about it in that way. When I first started, I imagined myself saying the slogan, "Because I'm worth it." My first reaction was that I couldn't possibly say that. It felt so cheesy. Then I saw the documentary about Ilon Specht and the history of the slogan, and I thought, "What am I talking about?"

At the end of the day, it's really important to be able to say that and truly mean it without feeling shame, judgment, or embarrassment. That's especially important today with the number of young women who struggle with self-worth. I actually feel proud to say it on a regular basis.

I love it. L'Oréal Paris was really the first brand to be built around what we'd now call an affirmation before we even had a word for that. It's a very rich history.

It's very cool.

What are your favorite L'Oréal Paris products at the moment?

Most of the time, in my private life, I don't really wear makeup except for mascara. I always have Panorama Mascara with me because the coverage is so great, and it's easy to take off. That's definitely a go-to. I also use the Age Perfect Midnight Cream. It leaves my skin feeling very smooth and silky, which I like. I also have a tendency to be quite lazy, so it feels effortless, and I feel like I get the results I want.

I know you said you normally only wear mascara on your time off, but I'd love to know your daily beauty routine. What does that look like? Do you spend time on skincare in the morning?

I didn't use to take off my makeup at all from one day to the next, even after doing a shoot. My big thing now is at least trying to do that, which feels like a big step for me. If I do that, I'll follow it with a moisturizer.

I know I'm likely to do those two steps. In the morning, I struggle to do much beyond putting on a bit of mascara. If I use anything else, it'll be the Duo Serum. I quite like that. I don't often put anything on, but if I do, that's usually it.

Has your perspective on beauty changed over the years. If so, how?

I don't think I ever paid much attention to beauty. My mom never wore makeup, and it was never really part of my life. I remember Rosamund Pike telling me about how her mother took her to a beauty counter at Macy's or somewhere similar. That just wasn't part of my upbringing. Makeup wasn't part of my childhood at all. When I did wear it, it was kohl around the eyes. It wasn't until my mid-20s, when I started working in the public eye, that makeup was really introduced into my life, and it was solely for the purpose of building characters.

It's only since working with L'Oréal Paris that I've had conversations about things like collagen and skincare. Since becoming a beauty ambassador, I've learned pretty much everything I know about beauty. That basically says it all.

What I really appreciate about [L'Oréal Paris] is how science-based it is. They genuinely care about the science behind their products, and I trust them 100%.

Beauty is one of those things where you open Pandora's box and realize there's so much to learn. It's exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. When brands like L'Oréal Paris are accessible, it's really nice. That sounds healthy.

What beauty trend, past or present, would you steer clear of?

I don't tend to follow trends. Is a Brazilian butt lift considered a beauty trend?

It could be.

Then I'd say it's probably wise to steer clear of that.

That's a whole other discussion about how those things can become trends, but I think you're right. Is there a beauty look or product, past or present, that you love?

Whenever I see women who have achieved what people call glass skin, where they seem to radiate from the inside out, I love that look. They're shiny but not greasy. They just look healthy with very little makeup. I understand the appeal of that, and I'm happy that trend exists.

There was also a period when painted-on freckles were popular. I thought that was really cool. I've known a few people over the years who did that, and I think it's pretty awesome.

I love faux freckles. What's the best beauty tip you've ever heard, even if it's not related to skincare or makeup? It could be about how you carry yourself or move through life.

I'll answer that in two ways. First, a practical beauty tip: If I ever wear eye shadow in my personal life, it's usually lipstick that I've dabbed onto my eyelids. I have no idea where I picked that up, but I do it.

More importantly, when we're talking about worth and feeling like you're worth it, none of these external things really matter. They may lift our spirits or put a skip in our step, but unless we feel good on the inside, they don't mean much. We can still have all the negativity in the world running through our heads, even with a full face of makeup. More than anything, I think it's important to work on the internal stuff. The longer you leave that work until your 50s or 60s, the more years those negative thoughts have had to compound and become harder to deal with. The earlier you start dealing with your issues and truly feel that you deserve to be on this planet, that you're perfect as you are, and that you can confidently ask for what you want from yourself, your life, and the people around you, the easier it becomes. The more years you spend doing that work, the better.

Do you have a beauty icon? If so, who is it, and why do you admire them?

Do you know Harriet Walter, the actress from England? Harriet Walter has such a fantastic face, and it's the same face she's always had. There are plenty of women I admire and think of as icons for their activism or their acting.
