During the cooler months, it's easy for our outfits to get stale. After all, how many variations of a jeans-and-jumper look can there be? Turns out, it's easy to have fun with winter dressing if you broaden your horizons a little.

To inspire you to branch out, we've been looking at the street style at Milan Men's Fashion Week. Yes, it's summer over in the Northern Hemisphere, but the styling is surprisingly similar to what we would wear here in Australia during winter. Unless you reside in an especially chilly part of the country, these Italian street style outfits translate really easily to our climate. It’s worth noting that I chose that expression because in the case of today’s story, it takes on meaning both figuratively and literally.

Take a quick scroll through your Instagram feed. You're most likely following countless fashion bloggers and influencers, who, in some way or another, have an impact on your style choices and buying behavior. But as The Fashion Law reports, the rise of the so-called "fashion influencer" has also led to a "significant spike . . . in advertising law violations."

By law, it is required that social media posts that are "sponsored"—i.e., a result of a direct partnership between a brand and an influencer—must openly disclose that they are, in fact, ads. But as The Fashion Law also points out, several influencers reveal this information in a very covert way, and some fail to disclose it entirely, both of which violate the Federal Trade Commission Act.

Oftentimes, bloggers may covertly reveal that a post has been paid for by a brand in the hopes of making it appear more "authentic" to their followers. But according to Rachel Zeilic, associate VP of talent at Clique, this "branded content" can, in fact, appear authentic if the influencer only accepts a product or service they would actually use in their everyday life.

"It's best for both the brand, as the authenticity of their influencer's endorsement will shine through, as well as the influencers, who always want to deliver valued content and maintain a relationship of trust with their audience," Zeilic explains.

Following these disclosure rules is not always easy. "The biggest challenge is keeping abreast of the rules, which are constantly changing," Zeilic says. "Most influencers are working either by themselves or in a very small team, and everyone has to wear a lot of different hats. There is no 'legal department,' so to speak, helping with compliance as there would be at say a traditional magazine."

In an effort to highlight the bloggers who are abiding by federal advertising laws (and those who may not be doing such a good job), The Fashion Law compiled a list of the 25 most influential Instagram stars, ranking them from exemplary—those who "boasted the highest percentage of properly disclosed posts"—to least commendable. Caroline Daur is a German fashion blogger who boasts over one million Instagram followers alone. She frequently takes to the 'gram to post street style images and travel shots, feeding her avid followers (us included!) with a consistent stream of incredible fashion inspiration.

Over the past few months, we've noticed one item, in particular, Caro has been wearing on repeat—an extremely oversize super-fluffy teddy bear coat that looks oh so cosy and super stylish. It's clear her followers are also huge fans of her choice in outerwear, which hails from Italian fashion house Max Mara and is fittingly named the Teddy Icon coat. (Of course, it's sold out online as of now, but it may still be available for purchase at a store near you.)

If you didn't already know, faux fur is a major trend this year, with the teddy jacket being the latest variation to win over everyone's heart. As data has shown, Pinterest saves for this particular cold-weather essential are up more than 1200% this year. So clearly Caro isn't the only one who is obsessed with this cute outerwear iteration. Although we’ve just seen a wash of pretty pastels on the runway with the likes of Chanel, Miu Miu and Bottega Veneta showing at Fashion Week, rest assured, when it comes to putting outfits together, bright bold colours are taking the win. (Trust us) We’ve seen some of our favourite women wear cobalt blue, proving the colour is equally striking and everlasting.

If you're a regular Who What Wear Australia reader you would have seen that Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week has officially kicked off. It's day two, and already we've seen some eye-catching outfits and accessories popping up on the street.

Wide leg trousers have been a favourite trend for some time now, and we've seen an interesting take on the trend, in Paris, which is a wrapping of the trousers around the ankle, with a belt. We spotted the trend on German fashion blogger and model, Caroline Daur at the Proenza Schouler Haute Couture show, and she is not one to shy away from standing out from the crowd. Not to take away from the rest of the outfit, she exposes her white shirt cuffs outside her leather printed jacket, and wears a mini Prada bag around her waist. Just as we like to see, elevated styling straight from the streets of Paris.
