Just yesterday, she made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival, where she walked the red carpet for a screening of her upcoming comedy-horror film Victorian Psycho. The actress seamlessly blended classic elegance with a distinct edge—and playful accessories—solidifying her status as an exciting new talent to watch both on-screen and on the red carpet.

To pull off her stunning festival debut, Templeton collaborated with powerhouse celebrity stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray. Together, they created two looks that worked with the "Cannes daytime chic" dress code, featuring designs from Rodarte and Miu Miu that subtly paid homage to the film's gothic-romance roots.

How did you settle on these looks with your stylist, Rebecca Corbin-Murray? Why are they perfect for Cannes?

It was such a wonderful, collaborative process—as it always is—with my stylist, Rebecca. Since it was a daytime premiere, the dress code was "Cannes daytime chic," and I wanted a look that was youthful and classic but felt very much like me.

We went for two different looks to get the best of both worlds, settling on an incredible Rodarte white dress for the photo-call, which felt like the perfect summer look, but with the collar, [it was] a nod to the Victorian era of the film. For the carpet itself, we decided on a Miu Miu number with a little black bow and embellished jewels. It felt so cute and fresh! Miu Miu is a brand that I've always resonated with, and I love their aesthetic. To be in Cannes on behalf of [Victorian Psycho] wearing such incredible brands has been a dream.

Tell me about your glam and your accessories and how they completed the look.

For the Rodarte look, I wore a black choker to complete the look (another nod to the film!), which felt quite gothic and chic. Of course, I couldn't forget a pair of sunglasses! I went for a sleek black pair to keep it very classic. Black strappy heels felt like the best fit for both looks, and on the carpet, I wore some beautiful pearl drop earrings, complementing the embellishments on my dress.

I worked with the dream team of Bjorn Krischker and Sara Hill for my hair and makeup. We kept it very simple, dewy, and youthful with a little liner to make my eyes pop. We styled my hair with just a subtle wave. It felt like the perfect summer hair and makeup, so [it was] an ideal fit for my first Cannes.

How faithful an adaptation is the movie compared to the Victorian Psycho book? What specifically do you think readers will love about bringing the novel to the screen?

I actually had read the book by Virginia Feito before I was cast in this project. I saw the pages come alive, so translating her fantastic writing into a film was an honor. I was surrounded by such a passionate cast and crew on set. I'm excited for audiences to experience the movie and be immersed in the beautifully bonkers world we built.

What have you learned about acting from Jenna Ortega on the set of Netflix's Wednesday? Do you have any memorable behind-the-scenes moments you can share about working with her?

I've learned so much working on Wednesday with so many inspiring creatives. Jenna is like a big sister to me, so getting to collaborate with her and build the relationship between our characters in the show was a joy!

One of the funniest memories I have is from the body-swap episode. We were shooting a scene where I hand her a coffee cup, and she knocks it out of my hands. During one take, it flew up and landed on someone's head, which had us all laughing.

How would you describe your interest in fashion? Where do you get your fashion inspiration from? What are some brands you'd like to wear and/or work with in the future, and why?

Fashion has always intrigued me, and I'm learning more and more about it, discovering my personal style. I love how fashion can transform you on the screen and also for events like this. I felt so lucky to wear Rodarte and Miu Miu in Cannes, two dream brands! I love Miuccia Prada. I think she is incredible, so wearing a Miu Miu dress for the carpet was a complete honor.

It would be wonderful to work with Dior, Chanel, Loewe, Balenciaga, and, of course, Miu Miu again!

Corbin-Murray also styles Florence Pugh, Simone Ashley, and Lily James. What are a couple of your favorite looks she's styled for these celebs in the past? What do you love about her approach to styling?

I couldn't possibly choose! They are all incredible women and actresses I hugely admire who always make such cool, considered choices in what they wear. I love how collaborative Rebecca is. … We can really sit and chat through our ideas together, what we feel looks good, and the kind of direction we want to go in. She always thinks about the little things too—a jacket here, a bag there, the perfect accessories to complete a look. She understands my personal style so well.

These days, it feels like a new color trend pops up daily, but only a select few break through the mêlée. Right now, ice blue is leading that charge, showing up seemingly everywhere. It's on runways at Victoria Beckham, Bottega Veneta, and Balenciaga (to name a few) and on celebs such as Bella Hadid. The supermodel, who's been busy taking over Cannes Film Festival as usual, wore the cool-toned shade during said tour through the South of France, donning a Louis Vuitton S/S 03 knee-length satin dress in ice blue paired with vintage Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami heels, a vintage Prada shoulder bag, and vintage Gucci sunglasses—oh, and casual Chopard diamond drop earrings. The color of her dress was only made better by the scenery, making it a perfect choice for the cultural event of the season.

Whoever decided that jeans aren't a dressing option for long flights got it all wrong. Sure, some pairs aren't designed for sitting. We've all owned them and probably gotten a stomach ache as a result, but that shouldn't turn you off of wearing looser alternatives for flying. Actually, as someone with over 300,000 Delta miles at the moment, I prefer to wear jeans to the airport. Rather, I prefer to wear relaxed jeans to the airport, and I'm not the only one. Alexa Chung and her boyfriend, Tom Sturridge, are supporters of the travel-jeans movement as well. It's true. I just saw photos of them both at the Cannes Airport wearing them with matching patent-leather flats—him in loafers and her choosing ballet flats from Repetto.

The result? Easy, comfortable outfits for short and long flights that, yes, include jeans. Both Chung and Sturridge opted for similarly washed, relaxed jeans, likely vintage from Levi's or a similar denim brand. What makes this denim option perfect for flying is all in the name. It's not overly stiff or tight and doesn't cut into your skin with every step. It's subtly loose, and the fabric is soft from wear, be it genuine or manufactured. Plus, jeans are more substantial than, say, leggings or yoga pants, so they make you feel more covered and take up more space in luggage. By wearing them on the plane, you'll end up with room to pack that extra dress, jacket, or skirt. Now that I think about it, people who wear relaxed jeans at the airport win no matter how you look at it.

With her pair, Chung added a sporty windbreaker layered over a gray hoodie, and for shoes, she wore black socks with patent-leather ballet flats—another airport hack. It automatically gave the look a bit of formality, creating a balancing effect.

ICYMI, we're in the midst of the 79th Annual Cannes Film Festival. Celebs are flying to the South of France and flooding the red carpet, and Bella Hadid is no exception. The theatrical event is the crème de la crème of theatrical excellence, but considering that it’s hosted on the Côte d'Azur, the captivating looks that grace the red carpet are what really steal the spotlight. In recent years, however, the sartorial fanfare has transcended far beyond the premieres themselves, with these parades of glamour beginning from the moment celebrities land on the tarmac and extending into the lobby of famed institutions like the glamorous Hôtel Martinez.

As a fashion editor who fancies themselves somewhat of a cinephile, this intersection of sartorial and on-screen drama is something that always piques my interest. This year, though, I’d have to award the proverbial Palm D’Or for “Best Dressed” the chic, over-50s celebrities showcasing the best French fashion has to offer.

This is not to say that they’re swanning around the French Riviera wearing the latest silhouettes showcased in Paris. (Though these looks are certainly luxurious and punctuated with designer accessories, like Demi Moore’s new season Gucci and Julia Louis-Dreyfus's intrecciato leather Bottega Veneta.) Instead, these looks serve as proof that simplicity will always be a shortcut to elegance.

In the almost decade-long career I’ve had in the industry, one of the biggest lessons I’ve gleaned from those with a little more experience under their belt is that ditching superfluous trends and developing your own shorthand for sophistication will actually make you look the most stylish. Whether this be a pair of excellently tailored jeans that fit you perfectly, or a black blazer crafted from the most sumptuous materials, it will always help you feel more refined, confident and considered.

This is a style philosophy that the venerable actresses in Cannes this weekend adhered to, and one that I’m proudly adopting, too. The latter is why I've never quite understood why everyone insists on wearing sneakers to travel. They're annoying to remove and take forever to unlace and relace. And don't get me started on when the laces come undone while you're speeding to your gate. It's a disaster waiting to happen. Suffice to say, I'm always on the lookout for good airport outfits to steer my footwear choices in the right direction, and Cannes Airport is my top choice for style-watching, particularly during the Cannes Film Festival. It's where all the chicest people in art, film, sports, and fashion find themselves this time of year, and every last one of them flies in through one place. No wonder I immediately solved my "what shoes to wear to the airport with jeans" predicament after perusing images taken in the arrivals department this week. Naturally, Diane Kruger, a regular at the festival, was responsible.

Kruger, one of the most consistently best dressed attendees of the Cannes Film Festival, arrived at the airport on Tuesday, flying in a casual yet polished travel outfit consisting of a baggy white T-shirt and baseball cap paired with wide-leg black jeans and a pair of brown suede boots by Isabel Marant with a scrunched-down look that made them feel effortless, cool, and comfortable. Never opt for too-tight shoes while flying. They're terrible for circulation. The 49-year-old actress finished off the look with sunglasses and a white Givenchy Voyou Bucket Bag.

In 2015, the Cannes Film Festival decreed a strict dress code that only permitted female attendees to wear high heels, leading to an incredibly elegant rebellion by the likes of Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lawrence, who either decided to go barefoot or wear flip-flops on the red carpet, respectively. In 2025, a mere decade later, organisers declared there would be “no naked dressing”, putting a ban on revealing clothing for the sake of “decency”.

Dating back to 1949, the design was realised in the Monsieur’s signature shade of 18th-Century grey and was dusted with iridescent beading and embroidery before cascading into a petal-like skirt made of silk tulle and an ombre finish that is reminiscent of ostrich feathers, the bird associated with the mythological Roman goddess from whom the style derives its name.

Style Notes: Another masterclass in fashion history came courtesy of Elle Fanning when she attended the premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood… during the Cannes Film Festival in 2019. Cannes street and red carpet style have taken over our feeds over the last week as the biggest names in fashion and film have taken over the French Riviera for the always-chic festival. Whether she’s spotted wearing a new denim hue on the set of Verity or inspiring us with her long, liquid hair on red carpets, we’re quick to analyze the details of the 35-year-old actress’ looks—and since arriving in Cannes for the 2025 Film Festival, she has not disappointed.

Johnson graced the red carpet for her Splitsville premiere wearing a fringe-dripped, ballerina-pink Gucci gown complemented by her fluid brown tresses. It’s a happy coincidence that the Cannes Film Festival lands in May, primed to boost me with styling inspiration to see me through the summer months. While the red carpet looks ignite my imagination, it’s the off-duty moments—the airport arrivals, hotel exits and casual street strolls—that actually influence what ends up in my summer wardrobe.

Stepping out of the Hotel Martinez on day three of the festival, Ariana Greenblatt delivered exactly the kind of understated, impossibly chic look that proves Cannes' casual style is just as compelling as the red carpet couture. The 2025 Cannes Film Festival is the gift that keeps on giving. As a fashion editor, I'm pleased as punch when I have tons of new celebrity outfits to report on, and the annual event in the French Riviera has provided exactly that.
