Unless you’ve been on complete social-media detox, you’ve probably noticed that basically every single fashion blogger has been posting photos of tortoiseshell earrings on Instagram lately. While we can’t explain it, something feels so right about these resin earrings.

Maybe it’s because they remind us of our favourite summer sunglasses, or maybe it’s because they strike the perfect balance between being a statement piece and an essential basic. Kenneth Cole once said, "The average women falls in love seven times a year. Only six are with shoes." Well, if you haven't fallen in love yet, you're about to. There's one style of shoe dominating Instagram and the streets of fashion weeks this year, and you guessed it, it's the kitten heel mule. This style has a short, slender heel (usually from three to four centimetres) that is backless and often closed toed. Essentially, the epitome of chic and feminine. Looking like it was pulled from the costume set of Sex and the City (in a great way), it's not only the international fashion girls wearing the trend, but our Australian It girls, too.

Reason why everyone's still obessed? It's all about balance in an outfit and the kitten heel mule does exactly that. Bec & Bridge is one of our favourite Australian labels. We love its relaxed yet elevated designs, and when you add some of our favourite Sydney fashion influencers, the result is *insert fire emoji*. 

After a routine Instagram scroll we spotted the Bec & Bridge Amazonite Dress ($240) on more than one occasion over the last few weeks. The style is what we're hailing as the next-gen slip dress. While the '90s slip dress has enjoyed an enormous comeback over the last year, the next iteration starts to creep into the early '00s, with a cowl neck and bias cut detail. It feels fresh and new, and exactly the kind of update the casual slip dress needed. This version is slightly more elevated, with a backless criss-cross strap design, making it perfect for a night out.

Gucci recently hosted two private events, one in Melbourne and one in Sydney, to celebrate the Gucci Garden installations. The exclusive in-store set up (which has travelled the world and is now in the Sydney store for a limited time, followed by the Gold Cost Pacific Fair store from December 7) features a universe of flora and fauna that are part of Gucci’s new vibe. Butterflies, birds, ladybirds, snakes, and giant flowers adorn not only the new collection, but also the surrounding installation (it makes for a really amazing Instagram moment).

The store drew in an amazingly stylish crowd (not surprising), with everyone decked out in Gucci. Our favourite part? Comparing how girls in different cities style the same collection/brand. Sydney girls incorporated denim, with relaxed hair and makeup, while our Melbourne sisters were a bit more glam.

Trend spotting is one of my favourite things to do (along with eating a big breakfast, spotting celebrity doppelgängers, and re-watching Friends from start to finish for the 874^th time), and over the past week, it’s been ALL about the prominent belt buckle. Who knew this would ever return from the '80s? I first spotted it on the street at Couture Fashion Week in Paris, and then Brooke Testoni made a very strong case in this gold buckle Topshop version. Which only means one thing—it’s definitely back.
