When it comes to heritage beauty brands, few rival the legacy of Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella. The Formula

Lisa Eldridge MBE is one of the world's top makeup artists who has worked with just about every famous face you could name, so I never doubted that this formula wouldn't be anything short of exceptional. Eldridge is renowned for her natural-looking approach to the complexion, preferring to place foundation and complexion products only in the places they're really needed rather than masking the skin. And she has totally bottled this ethos in this skin tint.

Inside the pebble-shaped bottle is a tint with a water-like consistency, which immediately sinks into the skin, offering a sheer, lightweight finish that's akin to a second skin and does so without highlighting enlarged pores or fine lines.

The formula contains hydrating ingredients such as squalane, glycerin and prickly pear and sunflower seed oils. As someone with oily-leaning skin, I was initially worried it would be too heavy on my skin, but it sits beautifully. I love a naturally radiant finish, and this skin tint delivers just that. It's neither too dewy nor too matte, but just looks like skin that has a healthy glow. This would be perfect for those with dry or combination skin, but is still matte enough for those with oilier skin who favour a more glowy finish.

The Finish

What I love about this skin tint is that it offers the perfect amount of coverage without feeling like you're wearing anything at all. It blurs redness and pigmentation, yet it still lets my freckles peek through. Of course, the sheer finish won't offer enough coverage to hide inflamed acne or redness, but it's perfect for day-to-day makeup when you want to even your skin, and it makes a great base to then apply a little concealer in just the places that require it. It's the ultimate "no makeup" makeup skin tint.

It wears so well throughout the day, whether worn alone on top of SPF, or finished with concealer and powder. The finish isn't so dewy that it disappears, yet not too matte that it clings to any dryness. I'm prone to oiliness around my nose and chin, yet this holds up throughout the day and never turns oily or cakey—a little powder on top sets it perfectly.

The shade range is expansive, covering a range of undertones across different shades so that you can find a good match for your skin tone. I'm writing this review in the height of summer, where I have a bit more of a tan at the moment, and shade T7 has been a great match for my complexion, which has neutral undertones. In short, I'll never be without a bottle of this skin tint in my makeup bag.

If there's one celebrity I'd love to sit down with and quiz all about their skincare and makeup routines, it's Hailey Bieber. Known for her radiant complexion, I think about her glowy makeup daily. Rhode Highlight Milk

The Formula

Whilst I like to use this to amp up my makeup, it's a skincare product through and through. Made with the brand's Glazing Milk formula, it has a lightweight, milky texture and is packed with ceramides, vitamin E and glycerin to hydrate and boost the skin's barrier.

Even if you don't have particularly dry skin, I personally think this is a great addition to your skincare routine, as it adds an extra level of glow and hydration. As someone with relatively oily skin, I've never found the formula too thick or greasy.

The Shades

The key thing separating this product from the original Glazing Milk is the subtle, pearlescent shimmer. There are four shades available, from a pearly pink to a rich bronze. Shades 01 and 02 are described as sheer, milky bases, whereas shades 03 and 04 have added tints for a warm glow.

At the moment, I'm using shade 02; however, during the winter months, I can see myself switching to 01 for my everyday makeup look.

The Application

What I love about the Highlight Milk is how versatile it is. There are so many ways to use it, but let me talk you through a few of my favourites. If I'm having a "no makeup" makeup day, I apply this all over the skin before going in with concealer and a bit of cream bronzer. Just using these three products makes a huge difference to my complexion, and it's actually the makeup look that earns me the most compliments on my skin.

However, if I feel like getting a bit dressed up and want a matching makeup look, I mix a few drops of this into my foundation, and the results are always 10/10. Oh, and a top tip that I took straight from the Rhode website? Mix with your body lotion or apply directly to your arms, chest and legs for the most beautiful body shimmer.

The Results

Honestly? I can't get enough of this product. I've tried countless illuminating primers, but what I love about this is that the glow looks completely natural. Yes, it's described as shimmery, but I actually think it adds a subtle luminosity that would trick anyone into thinking you follow a very strict, 20-step skincare routine (my actual routine is more like cleanser, serum and moisturiser).

What I love about Hailey's makeup is that it never looks too "done". Instead, she's all about letting your skin shine through, and now that I've got my hands on the Highlight Milk, I feel like I can finally recreate her signature look. If you want non-stop compliments this summer, I'd say this is a worthwhile investment.

The Formula

So, how does this magical stuff work? As the name suggests, the formula is infused with red and black tea extracts, alongside an active bio-cherry fruit essence. These extracts temporarily "tan" the skin, adding a bronzed finish whilst also smoothing the complexion. As mentioned, this product doesn't need time to develop. Instead, it comes with a handy guide colour so you know exactly what sort of finish you're getting. In my opinion, this takes all the stress out of using fake tan. The product currently comes in one universal shade, but would add more of a warm, sun-kissed effect to darker skin tones, rather than a very deep tan. I'd love to see a wider range of shades from the brand in the future.

The Application

There are lots of ways to apply By Terry Tea to Tan, but after rigorous testing, I believe I've found the best method for the most natural finish. When it comes to the face, I like to spray a small amount onto the back of my hand, then take a flat bronzing brush and buff the product into my skin. You can apply it all over or focus on the areas where the sun naturally hits, such as the tops of the cheeks, nose and forehead. If I'm tanning my décolletage, I tend to use a similar method. But if I'm doing larger areas of my body, such as my legs, I like to spray it directly onto the skin and use a large brush or my fingertips to blend it in.

The Results

After a week spent inside recovering from a nasty throat infection, it's safe to say that I wasn't looking my best. There might have been a heatwave in London, but my complexion would have anyone thinking it's the middle of winter. For my grand return to the office, I knew I could rely on By Terry's Tea to Tan to bring my skin back to life. I applied it everywhere I would my usual bronzer, and it left me looking suitably sunkissed. It took me about two minutes to take my skin from lacklustre to luminous, and I even skipped foundation thanks to how confident this product made me feel. I love how quick, easy and fuss-free it is, and now I'm struggling to imagine what I ever did without it. Fair play, By Terry, fair play.

Fifteen years after I first entered the fashion industry with an internship and a dream, I finally got to check off a major bucket-list item: attending couture week. Guess what? The wait was worth it. The Haute Couture Week shows in Paris are the pinnacle of fashion with a capital F, representing the industry's most capable craftsmanship, ingenious imagination, and stirring spectacle. This season's shows overdelivered on each of these fronts. Continue reading for my take on the haute couture fall/winter 2026 collections.

To attend the Dior Haute Couture show at the Musée Rodin, I wore an Erdem dress I bought on major sale several years ago, along with a Strathberry East/West Bag, Staud Brigitte Mules ($295), and Warby Parker sunglasses.

1. The New Dior Bride

A mere 72 hours after Taylor Swift got married in a Dior Haute Couture by Jonathan Anderson dress in New York City, the designer staged his fall 2026 couture collection in Paris. Naturally, I was eager to glean clues about Swift's still-top-secret wedding dress—any breadcrumb would do!—but as expected, Anderson kept details under wraps, only telling WWD that "it was a joy to work with her."

That said, the collection's closing look did bring Anderson's idea of the Dior bride into sharper focus. The final model, the show notes describe, wore a wedding dress in white hand-pleated chiffon overlaid with a dégradé cactus flower and fern-motif white lace, reembroidered with beaded ferns and white feather dandelions. Here's a video of it in mesmerizing motion. It was soft, romantic, semisheer, and downright fairytale-worthy. Only time will tell whether Swift's wedding dress can be described in the same way. Until then, this lovely Dior bride will have to tide you over.

2. The Balenciaga City Bag Goes Couture

We've come a long way from the wine-stained Balenciaga moto bag that permanently sat in the crook of Mary-Kate Olsen's arm circa 2004. For his triumphant first couture collection since taking the helm at Balenciaga, Pierpaolo Piccioli upgraded the iconic Le City bag in crystal-studded mesh with metal trim. So which celebrity will have the privilege of being the first to wear the straight-off-the-runway bag? Perhaps Balenciaga's newest campaign star, Sarah Pidgeon. Whoever the brand entrusts with the new bag, you can bet they'll keep a tight grip on the museum-worthy work of art.

Accessories aside, one of my favorite looks was this emerald-green feathered and fringed frock. "Feathers are a metaphor—weightless, delicate, yet with tensile strength," the show notes explained. I was also quite partial to this ombré dress dipped in pastel pink, which gave me major Taylor Swift wedding vibes.

On the celebrity front, I captured Lily Collins and Hudson Williams meeting for the first time at the Balenciaga show, much to the delight of Emily in Paris and Heated Rivalry fans in Who What Wear's Instagram comment section. I also recorded several other celebrities arriving at the show, which was held at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, including Teyana Taylor, Shailene Woodley, Naomi Watts, and Cynthia Erivo.

3. Same-Day Delivery

Zendaya and Law Roach just gave a new meaning to straight off the runway. Just hours—yes, hours—after Schiaparelli's fall 2026 couture collection was presented in Paris, Zendaya popped up in London wearing the show's closing look. What kind of fashion sorcery is that? To pull it off, Roach took the garment with him on a private jet and hand-delivered it to Zendaya. In the show notes, Schiaparelli Creative Director Daniel Roseberry described the look as "a glowing dress with a molded bustier in white glazed porcelain-
effect silicone."

4. A World of Pure Imagination

One of the highlights of reporting IRL on the 2026 Met Gala red carpet was witnessing Robert Wun's fanciful creations for Lisa and Naomi Osaka. Cut to two months later, I was just as impressed with his Paris couture show. In front of an audience that included Cardi B, Fan Bingbing, and Maura Higgins, Robert Wun put on a master class in creativity and storytelling. The show's venue, the Dôme de Paris, has seen its fair share of awe-inspiring artistry over the years—it even hosted the very first musical production of Les Misérables in 1980—making it the perfect choice for a couture house as theatrical and entertaining as Robert Wun.

"The collection unfolds as a timeline of growing up," Wun explained in the show notes. "From a child as a 'plain paper' to being coloured to being shaped and formed, characters are built like toys, childhood stories that lead to dreams emerging. Redefined, tailored, and embroidered within the brand's universe but with a reorienting intent. The closing chapter of the collection features customised balloons, colours exploding from the suited bodies, like the childhood that we all still carry deep within. And just like balloons, beautiful and joyous yet fragile and not meant to last."

It's no secret that Hourglass is one of my all-time favourite makeup brands of all time. Despite having a full beauty cupboard full of makeup products at my disposal, when you look at the products that have made it into my everyday makeup at home, Hourglass is the MVP of my makeup bag. If you've been trying to recreate that blurred lip look popularised by celebrity makeup artist Nina Park, then you can put your lip liners down. This blurring balm delivers a blurred, soft-focus lip in one swipe. What's genius about it is that it has the soft-matte finish that mimics the natural texture of your lips, yet it feels exactly like a hydrating lip balm on the lips. It's hydrating and comfortable to wear, with a flexible slip when you smack your lips—unlike many matte lipsticks that cling and feel drying to wear.

The beauty of them is that they can be applied lightly for a wash of colour, layered up for more intensity or paired with your lip liner if you want a more defined look.

The Shades

I have two shades of the Phantom Blur Balms (there are currently five very wearable, natural-looking shades in the edit), and they've both taken up permanent residencies in my makeup bag and my handbag. Echo, a soft, neutral pink, has been my everyday go-to, whereas Whisper has a pinky mauve tone that I've been leaning towards more so for summer. I'll definitely be picking up some of the deeper shades for next season. Honestly? I can't imagine my makeup bag without these since trying them.

Where do I begin? This moisturiser has the most luxurious texture I've ever come across in my decade of working as a beauty journalist. Its creamy texture is like liquid silk to the touch, and it melts into the skin with the most sensorial application I've experienced. It sinks in quickly, but instantly plumps and quenches the skin with moisture, and leaves a dewy glow that looks like you stepped out of a facial. The Japanese botanical ingredients, too, help to plump and moisturise the skin, leaving your skin looking and feeling baby-soft.

It's a phenomenal moisturiser on its own, but it particularly excels for makeup prep. After this sinks into the skin, my skin tint applies like butter. In fact, all of my makeup sits so beautifully on top and helps it last longer, too. I've spotted this moisturiser in many kit bags of top makeup artists, and I'm not surprised. If you want a hydrated, dewy glow, this moisturiser deserves a spot in your skincare routine too. Oh, and it also comes with a tiny spatula, which makes applying this to your skin feel even more luxurious.

I'd say that The Dewy Skin Cream is better suited to dry or dehydrated skin types that want long-lasting hydration and a dewy glow. For very oily skin, this formula may be too rich. However, The Dewy Milk Moisturizer or The Water Cream are great alternatives for the summertime, or if you want more oil control throughout the day. I've tested hundreds of foundations over the course of my career as a beauty editor (and even more before that). Along the way, I've sorted my favorite formulas into two categories. 1) natural-looking foundations, and 2) foundations that flawlessly cover my rosacea. There are only a couple that make the crossover—they look undetectable from my actual skin and cover blemishes and patchy redness.

Brand and price point have nothing to do with my top picks. It all comes down to performance. I need my foundation to be lightweight, flawless, long-wearing, flexible, breathable...the list goes on. And out of the countless formulas I've tested, there's only one that checks off every single box. I consider it my all-time favorite foundation. I've worn it to family weddings, to take professional headshots, and most recently, to attend a bridal shower on a 90° day. It's grade A, gold star, and top of the class, and I recommend it to basically anyone who will listen.

Here it is—Chanel's N°1 De Chanel Revitalizing Foundation. This formula is so good that I keep two (sometimes three) bottles on hand at one time. I know I'll use it, and honestly, I'm terrified it might get discontinued for some reason in the far-off future. Since I'm not prepared to process that reality, it makes me feel better to keep duplicates in my collection. Ahead, learn why I'm so obsessed with this foundation, and what sets it apart from so many others I've tested.

There are a few things that make this foundation so special: its versatility, texture, and staying power. Let's talk versatility first. Unlike other foundations that fit into light-, medium-, or full-coverage categories, this one is adaptable. It's easy to sheer out (just apply a couple of drops with a soft-bristled brush), build up (just smooth it over the skin with your fingers), or keep somewhere in the middle (I use my trusty Beautyblender for medium coverage). It's part of the reason I recommend it to so many people; I know it can work for a variety of coverage preferences.

Next, I need to talk about its texture and staying power. Enriched with red camellia oil and other moisturizing ingredients, Chanel's N°1 De Chanel Revitalizing Foundation is incredibly lightweight and hydrating. It's so featherlight that I sometimes forget I'm wearing foundation at all. It's so hydrating, my dry skin looks smooth and plump whenever I wear it—never cakey or powdery. The red camellia oil gives the foundation a satiny glow and, as a bonus, protects the skin from environmental aggressors.

In my personal experience, most lightweight, hydrating foundations have the worst staying power. They tend to slip, slide, and smudge off my skin, especially in high heat and humidity. This one, however, strikes a rare balance in that it keeps my skin looking hydrated without budging throughout the day. It's part of the reason I always wear it for big events; I know it'll look just as good at the end of the night as it did in the morning after I applied it. Most recently, I wore it to attend a six-hour-long bridal shower in 90° heat. I knew it wouldn't let me down, and it didn't.

I only have one word of caution. Since it has a luminous finish and a hydrating formula, it might not be the best choice for oily or blemish-prone skin. (In that case, I'd probably choose a velvety matte foundation.) However, if you have normal, dry, sensitive, or mature skin, I can't recommend it enough. It might be an investment at over $80 a bottle, but to me, the "You have great skin" compliments are well worth it.

One of the best parts about being a beauty editor is getting to test new beauty products ahead of launch. And one of my favourite parts is testing perfume launches before they come to market. Recently, I was invited to visit Grasse (AKA the perfume capital of the world) with one of my favourite French perfume houses, Matiere Premiere. You may know it from its viral Vanilla Powder scent, but what you might not know is that the founder, Aurélien Guichard, is the only perfumer in the world to grow and produce his own raw ingredients (including rose, tuberose and lavendin) in Grasse. Not only does this make its perfumes smell incredible, but the ingredients themselves are the standout notes that shine simply yet beautifully in each and every scent.

During the trip, I had a secret preview of the next scent to launch this summer. I came home with a lab sample, and since wearing it at home, I've not only fallen for it, but I've been inundated with compliments too. I've had to keep tight-lipped about exactly what it is when people have been asking after it, but now I can finally share the scent I've been wearing.

The Scent

Blackcurrant isn't a common note you find in many perfumes, but its unexpectedness makes this fruity oud perfume all the more interesting. On the first spritz, you get that sharp juiciness of glossy, plump blackcurrants bursting on your tongue. But it has a creaminess that reminds me of drinking a smooth, dark purple cocktail in the dim lighting of a luxurious bar.

Aurélien Guichard, perfumer and founder of Matiere Premiere, tells me that he chose blackcurrant as the standout note for this Harrods exclusive extrait, as it brings together both French and British cultures. In France, it's a nod to the crème de cassis blackcurrant liqueur produced in Burgundy. Whilst in the UK, it brings to mind blackcurrant preserves and pastries with the jammy, dark purple fruits. It's brimming with nostalgia, but is simultaneously fruity, luxurious and grown-up, combined with hypnotising oud and smooth leather.

"For Harrods, I wanted to create a fragrance around blackcurrant because it carries something both deeply French and strongly connected to British culture. In the UK, cassis is a familiar flavour shared across generations. I was interested in revealing its darker, deeper and more contemporary facets," he says. "This blackcurrant absolute produced in France gives an immediate savoury pleasure, but also has darker and almost ambery facets with remarkable persistence," he says. "I wanted a black currant textured with oud—where the purple vibrancy of cassis gradually darkens into leather, woods and musks.”

Upon spritzing, it really does paint a purple profile. The mouthwatering juiciness of blackcurrant is complemented by the oud and leathery dry-down, which envelops you like the leather interior of a dark purple-lacquered Bugatti. I'm not usually one for oud perfumes, but this jammy combination has totally won me over. And since I've been wearing it, I've been inundated with compliments whenever I've worn it. Thanks to the potent extrait de parfum formula, it's a real long-lasting power perfume that lingers and creates a halo of scent as you walk. What I love most is that it works just as well as a fruity high-summer perfume, but lends itself beautifully to the autumn season, too.

Somewhere along the way, though, celeb fragrance began to die out. Arguably, it was when A-listers decided to launch entire beauty brands, but that's a topic for another day. Blame it on my nostalgic nature, but I miss celebrity fragrances. Some say they're kitschy; I say they're fun, collectible, and surprising compliment-earners.

That's the case with Khloé Kardashian's newest fragrance, XO Blue, which launched earlier this month. The reality TV star, businesswoman, and pop-culture icon already had two other fragrances on the market, but this was her first seasonal offering. Formulated to smell like "sun on your skin, warm ocean air," and "crystal-clear waters," it's a summery and sophisticated scent that led me back into the celebrity fragrance world for the first time in over a decade. After wearing it for a week, I can attest to its compliment-earning potential.

XO Blue is a solar scent, a category of perfumes that evokes the warmth of the sun. It achieves this through a sophisticated combination of warm, tropical, and smooth notes. Think amber, frangipani flower, and coconut.

While I'd definitely categorize it as a vacation scent, it's not overly simplistic, citrusy, or sunscreen-like. It's actually incredibly sophisticated and almost a little bit spicy. I think that has everything to do with the notes of bergamot, ambrette, magnolia, and cedarwood. Apparently, I'm not the only one who thinks so. I've been wearing it for a week, and I've already had three people compliment me and/or ask what perfume I was wearing.

The first was my sister, who exclaimed, "What is that? You smell amazing," when I walked past her. The second was a friend who said, "You smell really good." The third was a total stranger who stopped me in a local coffee shop: "Sorry to bother you, but what perfume are you wearing?" That, dear reader, is when you know you've stumbled upon something really, really good. After all, strangers don't just stop you in public for any old perfume.

XO Blue has officially joined my lineup of summer scents. Right now, it's sitting on my vanity next to my other favorite fragrances, including Phlur's Island Swim ($39), The 7 Virtues' Coconut Sun ($94), and Jo Malone's Beach Blossom ($175).

When I say I love Korean skincare, it's an understatement. I would estimate it makes up about 90% of my routine. I'm talking about essences, moisturizers, hydrogel masks, and more. These products often combine cutting-edge ingredients (PDRN, spicules, and exosomes) with tried-and-true traditional ingredients (mugwort, cica, and ginseng).

I've tried so many Korean skincare products in my lifetime, but rarely do I rate something a 10 out of 10 only a few weeks after I've started to use it. That's the case with a new eye serum that I introduced into my routine a mere 14 days ago. Despite stress, late nights, and lots of travel, it's made a visible improvement. It's de-puffed, firmed, smoothed, and brightened my under-eyes in a way I don't think any other eye product has yet to do. Don't get me wrong. I've been wowed by eye creams before, but this one is next-level. Ahead, learn everything there is to know about this new, highly effective product.

Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Eye Serum

Sulwhasoo is one of the Korean skincare brands I use and recommend the most. Its products are based on decades of scientific research, and they all contain the same hero ingredient: ginseng. Ginseng is a powerful antioxidant that can reduce inflammation, prevent accelerated skin aging, and generally support a healthy-looking complexion.

Its most iconic product is perhaps the First Care Activating Serum ($89). It has a global cult following thanks to its potent formula and incredible anti-aging effects. It incorporates 500-hour-aged ginseng extract with Korean herb extract and a vitamin C derivative to strengthen the skin barrier, improve radiance, and protect against signs of aging. Let's just say it's a best seller for a reason.

When I learned the brand was set to release a matching eye serum, I was interested. After learning the science behind it while on-site in Seoul, South Korea, I was fascinated. After putting it to the test, I was officially sold.

The Ingredients

This eye cream features a high-performance blend of active ingredients:

• 3-Peptide Blend: Improves the look of elasticity and firmness.
• Ginseng Caffeine Complex: Reduces visible puffiness.
• Vitamin C Derivatives: Brightens and minimizes the appearance of dark circles
• Hyaluronic Acid: Hydrates and plumps fine lines

Sulwhasoo invested in clinical studies, and the results speak for themselves. After four weeks, participants saw a 100% improvement in dark circles, a 93% improvement in deep under-eye wrinkles, and a 87% improvement in under-eye puffiness.

My Review

From the start, I loved the packaging. It's shaped like a stylus, and it features a cooling ceramic-tipped applicator that massages the eye serum into the skin, deflates puffiness on contact, and feels nice and refreshing, especially on early mornings. It feels luxurious and ritualistic, and I love that.

Now for my actual results. I've only been using it regularly for two weeks, and I've already seen a massive improvement in my chronic dark circles. They're less prominent than they usually are, even though I've been traveling, working long hours, and entirely off my normal sleep schedule lately. Color me impressed.

I've also noticed it actually de-puffs my eyes (I don't know if I should thank the formula, the ceramic applicator, or both) and, better yet, makes my eye area look tighter and firmer with fewer fine lines caused by stress, dehydration, and lack of sleep. I can't wait to see the results after a few months, rather than weeks, of use.

I apply the eye serum morning and night before moisturizer, eye cream, and SPF. I can confirm it doesn't mess with makeup… at all. In fact, it makes my under-eye area look smoother, plumper, and generally just better whenever I do wear makeup. Needless to say, I'm going to continue to use it. It's a true 10 out of 10.

Body shimmer might not seem like the most pressing or practical beauty product to buy for summer, but hear me out. What if the body shimmer was soft, subtle, and finely milled and made your skin look like it was set in an eternal golden hour? Phlur Beach Skin Shimmering Body Oil

The Scent

This shimmering body oil has the same scent as Phlur's wildly popular Beach Skin Hair & Body Mist ($39), which is a solar fragrance. Solar fragrances evoke the warmth of the sun, and Beach Skin does it via a slew of fresh, tropical, and sophisticated notes. Think bergamot, salted tiare flower, coconut milk, and sandalwood. While I would definitely classify it as a vacation scent, it's not kitschy or immature, nor does it smell like straight-up sunscreen the way others do. It's creamy, airy, warm, and, most of all, expensive smelling. It's an ideal summer scent.

The Shimmer

Scent aside, its finely milled shimmer is stunning. The tiny gold flecks spread evenly across the skin and reflect light in the prettiest, most radiant way. Whenever I use it, it looks like I have a golden-hour filter on my skin.

I also love that it moisturizes, smooths, and plumps my skin thanks to ceramide-rich floral oils that mimic the natural lipids found in the skin. Both instantly and over time, these oils strengthen the skin barrier, plump fine lines, and smooth dry texture. I've only been using it since the beginning of June, and I've already made a dent in the bottle. I can tell it's going to be gone by the time summer ends.

Out of all the makeup brands out there, Merit Beauty is at the top of my list. Its minimalistic and effortless approach to beauty (not to mention its extremely chic packaging) makes it a total staple in mine and my fellow beauty editors' makeup bags. I'm already a huge fan of Merit Clean Lash (£24), the brand's very first mascara. So when I heard that Merit was launching a new volumising mascara, Clean Volume (£24), my interest was immediately piqued. I've been testing the new mascara over the past couple of weeks, so scroll on for my thoughts on whether it deserves a spot in your makeup bag.

Merit Clean Volume Mascara

Clean Volume is a tubing mascara designed to volumise lashes without clumping. Whilst many volumising mascaras feature a large wand with long bristles, Clean Volume has a notably more nimble, flexible comb wand. As someone with deep-set, hooded eyes, this is a total game-changer, as so many bulky wands ultimately transfer product onto my lids or under my eyes. However, it doesn't compromise on volume. This small comb wand, however, catches every lash and deposits just the right amount of product as you sweep it through, helping to give you defined yet full lashes and plenty of length, too. No spidery lashes here.

The tubing formula means that not only does it withstand flaking, smudging or crumbling throughout the day, but it removes effortlessly with just warm water—it just slides off your lashes between your fingertips.

Before and After

As you can see, this mascara delivers on its promises of volumising, without looking heavy or spidery. This is just with one coat, but if you're after a more dramatic effect, it's easily layered up for more intensity without turning clumpy. I like to curl my lashes prior to applying my mascara, and if you have short or straight lashes, I'd recommend not skipping this step.

Clean Lash vs Clean Volume

If you're stuck between which formula to go for, or want to know if you need Clean Volume in your makeup bag too, there are a few key differences to know. Clean Lash delivers a fluttery, natural-looking look, and features a classic bristled wand that gives a feathery-looking flutter. IMO, it's the perfect everyday mascara.

Clean Volume, on the other hand, delivers a more defined yet volumised look. Think more sleek and spiky in the best way. The wand is also flexible in comparison and features tiny bristles that are small yet mighty at delivering the pigment to your lashes. Whichever one you go for, you now have the option of black or brown in each.

Personally, I can justify having both in my makeup bag. Clean Lash remains my favourite everyday mascara, but come evenings when I want a bolder eye look, I'll definitely be switching to Clean Volume for more drama.

My Verdict

Having now tested Clean Volume after the past couple of weeks, I have to say I'm impressed. I'm usually not one for volumising mascara formulas (I personally favour lengthening and curling mascaras), however, Merit Beauty's innovative brush has converted me. It makes it easy to get fuller lashes without running the risk of overloading with too much product, and I also love how long and defined it leaves my lashes, too. It feels light and flexible on my lashes, without feeling heavy like some mascaras do. Oh, and it's a total dream to remove at the end of the day; it just melts away in the shower. If you're in the market for a new mascara that delivers on volume, then I'd highly recommend it.

The Formula and Shades

Following in the footsteps of the highly coveted Pocket Blush (£25), Pocket Bronze has the same buttery formula in cream bronzer form. There are eight shades to choose from, spanning across a range of skin tones from fair to deep, and the shade range feels really considered, catering to a range of different undertones, too.

The formula contains Rhode's signature peptides, as well as tamanu oil, which gives the formula a creamy slip that ensures it effortlessly melts into the skin with a satiny finish. They're easy enough to dot onto your skin and blend with your fingers, or blend out with a brush. Either way, these creamy bronzers meld with your complexion seamlessly, leaving you with a naturally sun-kissed glow. And as its name suggests, these nimble bronzers are small enough to slip into your makeup bag, making them great for top-ups as well.

My Thoughts

My first impression of the Pocket Bronze is just how easy they are to use. I live in fear of bronzers that are too heavy or patchy, but this lightweight formula has a silky, buttery consistency that just blends so effortlessly into the skin, whether worn on bare skin or buffed over a skin tint. They also pair beautifully with the new Highlight Milk (£28), a milky lumizing highlighter fluid, which I like to mix into my base before applying my bronzer on the days when I want more glow.

I'd describe the finish of these bronzers as sheer and satiny; it's not so dewy that it disappears halfway through the day, but remains easy to blend and gives a hint of glow to your complexion without glitter or sparkle (all the shades are matte, FYI). I've tried hundreds of bronzers, but I'm already willing to say this after testing it for just over a week—this is easily one of the very best I've tried, and I'm very picky about bronzers.

I tried three of the shades, including Sip (for light to light-medium skin tones), Sunbed (light to light-medium complexions) and Bake (for light-medium to medium tones). I have light skin; however, my complexion has been particularly sun-starved over summer, so most days I reached for either Sip or Sunbed, which gave me the healthy-looking glow I've been craving.

I used a fluffy makeup brush to buff the bronzer onto my cheeks, forehead, nose and a little on my eyelids too, and it instantly added warmth to my skin with minimal blending required. They also wear really well throughout the day, and although I've been carrying one in my bag, I haven't felt the need to top up as they're really long-lasting.

In case you hadn't already guessed, I'm already a big fan of the Rhode Pocket Bronze. So if you're in the market for a new bronzer this summer, you really can't go wrong with this one. Thank you, Hailey. The Pocket Bronze was definitely worth the wait.

I'll be honest: my favourite skincare brands are often the least aesthetic ones. 1. TLC Melt Hydrating Balm Cleanser

I love a cleansing balm, and I was so excited to get my hands on this. The sweet, fresh, uplifting scent made the boring task of taking off my makeup a whole lot more fun. Plus, when applied to the skin, this balm melts into a nourishing oil, which means it removes even the most stubborn of mascaras. After washing it off, I couldn't believe how soft my skin felt. For a first cleanse, you really can't go wrong with this.

2. Soft Reset Foaming Cleanser

For my second cleanse, I went in with the Soft Reset Foaming Cleanser. I'll be honest, I don't usually like cleansing foams, as I personally find them very drying, but thanks to a cocktail of nourishing ingredients, I didn't experience that tight, stripped feeling after using this. It did take me a little while to get used to using the pink foam (yes, it's pink!), but I have to say, there's something about the colour and the scent that makes this product so joyous to use. It might not be a cleanser I reach for every single day, but when I need a boost, it's this I'm choosing.

3. Triple Up Hydrating 3-in-1 Toner & Primer

I was a bit confused by this product at first, but once I got the hang of how (and when) to use it, I pretty much fell in love. I tend to apply a few pumps before my moisturiser or before applying my makeup, as it adds the dewiest, juiciest effect to the skin. Plus, it acts as an extra hit of hydration on those days when your complexion is feeling a bit dry or dull. The nourishing ingredients and lightweight formula get top marks from me.

4. Sunshine Dew Glow Essence

As soon as I saw the name of this, I couldn't wait to try it. Anything that promises a dewy glow is right up my street. Similar to the product above, this is a great one to apply before makeup, as it adds this really beautiful, naturally radiant finish to the skin. Thanks to the nourishing texture, it also allows any foundation or concealer to glide on smoothly. I can definitely see this becoming a staple in my daily routine.

5. Cloud Bounce Hydrating Moisturiser

Last but not least, let's talk about moisturiser. I always struggle with moisturiser, as I have dry skin, but it also gets clogged easily, so I can't use anything too rich. In my opinion, this product is the perfect middle ground. The combination of baobab, glycerin and squalane left my skin feeling silky soft, and thanks to the lightweight, cloud-like texture, it didn't feel heavy or greasy to use—10/10 from me.

Open up a beauty editor's makeup bag, and there are a few cult products that you're bound to find. Hourglass makeup brushes, the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and a Merit blusher are just some that come to mind, but one bronzer that I know every editor swears by is the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream. Have I mentioned that it's one of my favourite cream bronzers of all time (and one of the best Chanel beauty products ever)?

Like bathing your cheeks in all the sun-kissed goodness that would have anyone thinking you've just got back from a week in Greece, this bronzer is my go-to when my complexion feels a little dull or lacklustre. One swipe and suddenly it's like I've just stepped off the plane, with people left, right and centre commenting on how radiant I look. I know what you're thinking: surely one little pot can't do all that? If you don't believe me, keep on scrolling...

First up, let's talk formula. A hybrid between cream and gel, this product sinks into the skin like butter whilst remaining lightweight and easy to blend. It has a velvety finish, which makes your skin look plump and healthy in a matter of seconds. There are five shades available, and I like to apply the lightest shade with a kabuki brush as I find it creates the most naturally sun-kissed effect; however, the great thing about this product is its versatility.

Thanks to its unique texture, you can either apply it to areas where the sun would naturally hit (such as your cheeks, nose and forehead), or lightly blend it all over the face for a more intense bronzed finish. It's not shimmery, so you could even apply it to the hollows of your cheekbones to help contour, but I personally prefer using a contour stick for this.

I've recently opened a fresh pot, and let me tell you, there's no feeling like it. I could feel the excitement as I swirled my brush into the bronzer, knowing I was about to have a really, really good makeup day. So when an email landed in my inbox that Byredo was indeed launching some of its most iconic fragrances as body mists this month, I just knew I had to get my hands on them.

Firstly, these might be the chicest body mists I've laid my eyes upon. In true Byredo fashion, they're housed in beautifully minimalist frosted glass bottles that feel luxuriously weighty to hold in your hands, and the misting mechanism delivers a cloud-like vapour that is a total joy to mist over your body or clothes. They're a great way to top up or layer with your current Byredo perfume to make it even more long-lasting, or even layer with another scent. However, they're also a great way to try some of the most-loved Byredo scents at a slightly more affordable price-point, coming in at £68 for a generous 100ml. They're definitely lighter than the eau de parfums, of course, but I've had plenty of compliments from wearing them alone. Plus, at that price, I'm more on board with spritzing these a little more liberally when I want to refresh my scent.

In the summer months, I solely wear skin tints. Forget foundation, as these barely-there, complexion-perfecting products are all I need for a glowy makeup look. Not only did I think it would never beat my go-to products, but to be totally honest, I'm a bit skeptical of celebrity beauty brands. I know, I know, there are some genuinely amazing celeb products out there, but more often than not, these brands never live up to the hype. Kylie Cosmetics is known for its Lip Kits (which launched in 2015), but when it comes to complexion products, I didn't have high hopes. Oh, how wrong I was.

As it turns out, this skin tint is one of the best things I've ever put on my face. Kylie, forgive me, as you have created my new favourite complexion product for the summer ahead.

Whilst most skin tints I've tried have a similar texture to foundation, this features a fluid, weightless, almost water-like texture that glides onto the skin and makes it feel as if you are wearing nothing at all. It is packed with hyaluronic acid for a hydrating, seamless-wearing experience, with light-to-medium, second-skin coverage. Whilst I would still use concealer to cover any blemishes, as the name suggests, this product blurs the appearance of pores and skin texture, leaving a smooth, radiant finish that gives all those TikTok filters a run for their money.

There are 24 shades available in a wide range of skin tones, and I personally wear 4.5 Warm Neutral, which works beautifully in the summer months when I'm a bit more tanned. When I wore this to the office for the first time, I had three colleagues compliment my makeup. Since then, I've reached for it pretty much every single day, and I couldn't tell you how many people have asked what foundation I'm wearing.

I want to start this article by saying that when it comes to makeup, I usually don't like highlighter. I know what you're thinking... if that's how you feel, why are you even writing this piece? Well, it's because I've finally found a product that I can get on board with. I'd normally roll my eyes at a brand calling their product "unreal", but honestly, I see why Hourglass has done it. This teeny tiny bottle holds an illuminating formula like no other. One drop, and suddenly my skin is basking in golden sunlight, with a healthy glow that screams, "My skincare routine is better than yours." (In reality, I've probably splashed my face with cold water and slathered some moisturiser on in the bathroom mirror whilst still half asleep.)

There are five shades available, from pale champagne hues to bronze gold and copper rose tones. My go-to is Infinite, a yellow gold that adds the perfect amount of shimmer to my skin. Unlike other highlighters I've tried, it never looks glittery, which means I'm flooded with compliments about my natural-looking glow.

Now, when I say you only need a drop, I really mean it. This highlighter packs a punch, so if you prefer a more naturally illuminated finish (like me), start slowly. I recommend giving the product a good shake before dispensing a small amount onto the back of your hand, then using the brand's No. 16 Highlighter Brush (£48) to tap it onto the tops of your cheekbones.

The hydrating, serum-like texture blends like a dream, adding a radiant, plumping effect to the cheeks. In the past, I've found that other highlighters can cling to the skin and show up every patch of dryness and skin texture, but this does no such thing. Whilst I'd never say you need an extra product in your summer makeup kit, if you like a glowy makeup look, then you'll be hard-pressed to find something better than this.

Even with tonnes of hair tools such as hot brushes and curling wands at my disposal as a beauty editor, I actually can't stand my hair looking too "done". Cool Girl Barely There Texture Mist is one of those products that is exactly what it says it is on the can. Created by legendary hairstylist Sam McKnight MBE (who has worked on everyone from Princess Diana to Kate Moss and Sienna Miller), this texturising mist adds the perfect amount of grit to lengths, boosting volume and texture even in the finest of hair. McKnight was inspired by the effortless looks he's created on Kate Moss, and designed this product with her in mind to help us create the same undone looks at home.

In the above video, McKnight uses it on Sienna Miller, flipping her hair upside down and misting through for effortlessly texturised lengths. Alexa Chung also counts herself as a fan, having previously called it "a gig in a can" for her signature dishevelled waves. It's cool-girl hair in a bottle.

I've been using this product for years and can also attest to its brilliance. If I ever find my curls or waves are looking too polished, I like to spritz a little through my lengths and use my fingers to dishevel as I have above. It helps keep curls and waves looking undone whilst enhancing texture and giving root lift when sprayed around the crown. It's also one of the best-smelling hair products I've tried. In fact, I've had compliments on the scent alone.

Whilst it's not strictly a hairspray, it does offer lightweight hold to styles and brushes out easily at the end of the day—zero crunchiness here. As a beauty editor, I've tried tonnes of skincare tools. From microcurrent devices to at-home hair removal tools, I've put hundreds of beauty tools through their paces in my decade working in beauty. But right now, the most common skincare device I get asked about is LED masks. Previously, you'd have to head to a clinic for LED light therapy, but now, a new wave of at-home LED masks means that you can enjoy all the skin-rejuvenating effects at home in front of Netflix or a TikTok scroll.

I've now tried dozens of LED masks for my job, so when the Keskine LED Red Light Therapy Face Mask Pro landed on my desk, I had plenty to compare it to. I've been testing it over the past 12 weeks, so you can decide whether you want to make the investment in your skincare routine.

The Tech

What's most impressive about this LED mask is the range of light wavelengths, which includes red, blue, orange and yellow. The four treatment modes are designed to address different skincare concerns.

Red: Red (650nm) + Infrared (1064nm) to promote collagen and plump wrinkles

Purple: Blue 465nm+ (650nm) + Infrared (1064nm) to stimulate skin repair and healing

Yellow: Yellow 590nm + Infrared (1064nm) to soothe skin and reduce redness

Orange: Yellow 590nm + Red (650nm) + Infrared (1064nm) to brighten the skin and boost radiance

It also features 352 LEDs, which is particularly impressive as its signifcantly more than most other LED masks on the market. More bulbs mean a better distribution of light across your skin, helping to boost results. Keskine has even conducted clinical studies on the device, which showed a 28.9% improvement in wrinkle appearance and a 54.55% reduction in visible blemish count in two weeks.

My Experience

I put the mask to the test over the past 12 weeks, using it around 4-5 days per week on average. The shape of the LED mask is very different from the flexible masks I've tried previously. This one has a rigid, moulded structure and doesn't have gaps for the eyes or mouth. At first, I thought this might be a little claustrophobic as you can't see through from the outside in, but you can see through the eye area on the inside (it features a cushioned eye area on the inside of the mask), and it fits comfortably thanks to the adjustable straps. It's also much larger than most masks, giving LED coverage right up to the hairline, which, if, like me, you want to benefit from LED on your temple area to encourage hair growth, is a big bonus.

Whilst this LED mask might be more expensive than some other models, you're getting the option of four different treatment modes. Most LED masks typically offer red and infrared, but this mask includes the addition of blue and yellow light. Whether you want skin brightening, skin tightening, acne removal or smoothing, there's a tailored treatment to suit most skin concerns here. The treatment times are all 10 minutes, so it's easy to slot into your bedtime routine. The only thing I'd say is that the visibility through the mask isn't the best, so reading is a little tricky. The mask itself is really comfortable and secure, and you can even walk around with it comfortably without it sliding off like some LED masks.

Over the past few months, my main concerns were plumping my skin and clearing breakouts, so I opted for the red light and blue light options the most.

The Verdict

I'd had a gap of a few weeks in between testing my last LED mask, and so my skin was looking dull, uneven in tone, and I also had some active breakouts. On top of that, I also had a flare-up of perioral dermatitis and eczema, so this mask had its work cut out.

I rotated between the different settings, and I first started to see results after about two weeks of use. The first signs I saw were more radiance. I'd wake up in the morning, and my skin would possess more of a glow compared to the nights I hadn't used it. The breakouts I'd been experiencing were fewer and further between, and any that did crop up had a much shorter lifespan, with acne scarring fading much faster (thank you, blue light!). During my perioral dermatitis flare-up, I used the yellow light setting, which helped to reduce the inflammation and redness, and it totally cleared up in less than a week. 12 weeks later, I've had more compliments on my skin than ever before, and so this LED mask really is working.

Like with any LED mask, you have to be consistent to see the results (once or twice a week isn't going to cut it), but when I used it 4-5 days per week, I saw a noticeable plumping in the fine lines around my eyes and forehead. My last Botox treatment has worn off, and so this was a big plus to help maintain my results in between my next appointment.

As a wellness-obsessed beauty editor, I pride myself on knowing all about the latest and greatest tech gadgets before they make it big. I have a stellar track record too. I was an early adopter of microcurrent devices, LED masks, state-of-the-art shower and sink filters, vibration plates, and more. I learned about them from my friend and fellow beauty editor Shawna Hudson. PEMF stands for "pulsed electromagnetic field." Proponents say it offers all kinds of benefits, including streamlined stress reduction, better sleep, faster muscle recovery, and more energy. It sounded good—almost too good. How could plugging one of these PEMF mats into a wall and lying on it for a few minutes improve so many lifestyle markers? I'm a natural skeptic, so I knew I wouldn't be sold on this new wellness modality until I could try it out for myself.

The latter is a winter staple for me.) I waited for the box to arrive, lugged it up to my second-floor apartment, and set it up on the floor near my desk. I committed to using it once a day for 60 days. Spoiler alert: I loved it. Now that I'm on the other side of the experiment, I'm shocked by how it helped me release muscle tension, minimize stress and anxiety, decrease daily brain fog, and even improve sleep quality. How to Use the PEMF Mat

There are a few steps to follow for a smooth experience and the best results. First, plug in the mat and choose which level you want to benefit from. Here's a rundown of each level and the physical and mental benefits it's associated with:

Next, choose whether or not you want to turn up the heat. The controller has a handy toggle where you can adjust the infrared level to your desired temperature. Last but not least, lie back and relax. You can experiment by using different PEMF levels at different times and intervals to see what suits you best.

How Often to Use PEMF

Alcalde says there's no such thing as overdoing it with PEMF. "You can use it every single day. The mat runs on 20-minute cycles, which is considered a full treatment and a great baseline for anyone just starting, though many people use it for longer," she says.

For best results, she recommends thinking of it as a cumulative practice rather than a one-time fix. "A popular approach is pairing a higher-frequency session (Level 3 or 4) in the morning for energy and focus with a lower-frequency session (Level 1 or 2) in the evening to wind down and prepare for sleep," she says. "The beauty of it is that it requires zero setup or cleanup and stacks seamlessly into things you're already doing—lying down to watch TV, stretching, meditating, or even just working from your desk."

My Review

After using it for 60 days, I'm more than willing to share my anecdotal experience with anyone interested. As a naturally anxious person who stares at a computer screen all day for work, I tend to use Level 2 (calm and center) and Level 4 (focus and problem-solving) most often. I use the former in the evenings or during anxious moments, usually just lying on the mat, letting the heat melt away muscle tension, breathing deeply, and trying to return to the present moment.

I use the latter in the morning to set myself up for the day. Often, I'll sit on the mat in the morning while journaling, filling out my planner, and creating my to-do list. When I use it consistently, I swear I experience less brain fog and improve my productivity without needing to drink that extra cup of coffee I usually rely on.

I've also seen results from using Level 1 for deep sleep. I use it about an hour before going to bed, and I tend to fall asleep faster and wake up feeling more rested. The only level that I can't attest to is Level 3. Maybe it's because I've never had a good meditation practice, but honestly, I feel like I don't have a good baseline to judge its efficacy.

Still, initial skepticism aside, I'm shocked at how much I love this PEMF mat. While I wouldn't say that anyone needs it, I would highly recommend it to anyone who has a budget for it and wants to elevate their wellness routine in a major way. I've already recommended it to multiple friends and family members.

It had been a few years since I'd last used Caudalie's Vinoperfect Brightening Dark Spot Serum (£52). But after rummaging through my beauty stash of products to try and test, I found a bottle and took it as a sign to reintroduce this legendary serum back into my routine. And I'm so glad that I did. If you're not yet acquainted with this French pharmacy skincare icon, scroll on.

Caudalie Vinoperfect Serum

The Formula

So what makes this serum so special? Rather than using skincare ingredients such as vitamin C that you'd often find in brightening serums, Vinoperfect uses viniferine. This ingredient (which is derived from vine sap) is 62 times more effective than vitamin C, and, in a clinical study, showed a 63% reduction in dark spots after 56 days (roughly one bottle's worth). So it makes it a great vitamin C serum alternative if you have sensitive skin, or if your complexion doesn't tolerate more potent actives.

Some brightening serums irritate my sensitive skin, but not this Caudalie one. It delivers results whilst simultaneously soothing my skin with its lightweight milky texture. The formula also contains olive squalene, a non-greasy but skin-nourishing ingredient that doesn't clog pores or leave the skin feeling greasy. It absorbs fast, sits well underneath makeup and feels hydrating throughout the day.

Before and After

Since entering the warmer months, my skin had started getting some seasonal freckling from being outside more (despite being diligent with SPF—it only takes one sunny day for them to return!), and I'd also been dealing with the aftermath of breakouts and acne scarring. So, it felt like the perfect time to put this serum to the test once again to see how it fared on my sun damage and post-acne hyperpigmentation.

Before

I applied the serum both morning and night in place of my usual vitamin C serum, and followed up with SPF for daytime or layered underneath other serums or moisturisers in the evening. The milky texture sinks straight in, leaving my oily-leaning complexion feeling comfortable and soothed.

After

Whilst it takes around six to eight weeks to see full results, I started seeing a difference after a week. My lingering acne-scarring was looking less inflamed and faded a lot faster than usual, and my skin looked more radiant and clear overall. Of course, my freckles remain, but my skin tone definitely seems more even. For more stubborn dark spots or melasma, it may take more time to see the full benefit.

After a month, my skin feels soothed and noticeably more radiant. I wake up in the morning and can see a visible difference in the luminosity and evenness of my complexion. The pigmentation is softer, and my skin feels soft and hydrated. I also appreciate the oil-free formula, and can happily report that it didn't exacerbate any breakouts.

Is It Worth It?

In short, yes! I'm so glad I rediscovered this serum as I've fallen in love with it all over again. It deserves its cult status as a modern skincare icon. I'd particularly recommend it if you're looking for a brightening serum that's suitable to use on sensitive skin, or want to address concerns such as pigmentation, post-acne scarring or sun damage.

Whilst it does take time to work (particularly on more stubborn forms of pigmentation, such as melasma), I've really enjoyed using this serum. It has helped to speed up my lingering acne scarring marks, as well as make my complexion more even-toned and radiant. It's a little more expensive than most serums, but, in my opinion, it's totally worth the investment, and I'll be topping up my bottle once it has run out.

The Formula

Does anyone else find foundation sticks quite drying? As much as I love the format, whenever I've tested them in the past, they've always clung to dry patches of skin. So, when I tested this foundation on the back of my hand, I practically squealed with excitement. It's hard to put into words how creamy it feels, but I'm going to give it my best shot.

The formula is infused with ceramides, squalane, sodium hyaluronate and shea butter, so you can already imagine how hydrating it is. As a beauty editor, I love a skincare makeup hybrid. That being said, as someone with combination skin, I was a little skeptical about how oily it could get throughout the day, or whether these hydrating ingredients could actually feel quite heavy, but this formula is surprisingly lightweight. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that it feels like wearing nothing at all.

The Application

Thanks to its velvety formula, this foundation glides on like butter (not that I've ever applied butter to my skin, but you get the gist). One swipe, and suddenly, blemishes, redness and pores take on a blurred effect, creating an even, radiant base that makes me feel like my most confident self. Whether you prefer a foundation brush or your fingers, swipe the stick onto the skin and blend as you go.

My Verdict

Is it obvious yet that I've fallen in love with another Jones Road base product? This little stick has quickly replaced all of my tinted moisturisers, skin tints and foundations, and I can't see myself reaching for anything else this season. The creamy formula, the ease of application, the naturally radiant finish, the wide range of shades and undertones (I wear shade Beige, btw)...I have no notes. As someone who is here, there and everywhere this summer, this launch couldn't have come at a more perfect time. I recommend adding this foundation stick to your makeup bag ASAP.

The Formula

Prismatic PDRN: Otherwise known as polydeoxyribonucleotide (catchy), this is traditionally derived from salmon sperm DNA. However, Medik8 uses a vegan form of PDRN that actually absorbs into the skin with better efficacy. Its primary benefit is soothing irritation and supporting skin recovery.

Triple Exosome Complex: This is another buzzy ingredient that you'll find in this serum, which also supports skin recovery and strengthens the skin barrier.

GF MiniProtein: The eagle-eyed will spot that this ingredient is in Medik8's Liquid Peptides AdvancedMP Serum (which has been touted as a "Botox alternative"). It helps to support collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.

ATP Precursor: Lastly, you'll find this key ingredient in the formula. It's an energy-carrying molecule that communicates to your skin cells, helping to support the process of skin rejuvenation.

My Experience

With an ingredients list chock-full of buzzy ingredients, I couldn't wait to get this serum on my skin. The main benefits promised are to rejuvenate and soothe the skin, helping to support the skin's luminosity, tone and texture. It has a viscous gel-like texture, sinking into the skin quickly. I found it left a slightly tacky texture on my skin, which didn't hugely bother me, but it's worth noting if it's a deal-breaker for you.

I have combination skin that can be oily and breakout-prone, and right now, I have a fun mix of breakouts, eczema and rosacea that I'm contending with, so this serum was already up against it. However, it was the perfect time to put this skin barrier-boosting serum to the test.

Over the course of testing this serum, I definitely noticed an improvement in my skin redness and reactivity. After a week, my skin felt less irritated, and my breakouts were clearing faster than usual (despite me commiting a beauty editor cardinal sin and picking at them), and my skin possessed a healthier glow. Was it a drastic change? Not massively. But I was thankful for the boost to my skin barrier.

Having now tested this serum for two weeks, I'm starting to see more radiance, less redness, and my skin looks more even-toned as the acne-scarring is fading. I've noticed it looking a little plumper, but as for the rest of my skin, I've not seen a huge difference yet in my skin texture or lines, but I'm excited to see how the results fare over the next few months. This would also make a great addition to use after skin-boosting treatments such as laser or microneedling to really reap the benefits of the exosomes and PDRN.

Is It Worth it?

If I'm being totally honest, I had high, high hopes for this serum. I'm a huge fan of Medik8's serums; however, I'm yet to come to a conclusion on whether I'd top this up once I've run out. That being said, it has helped my skin barrier after a big flare-up of rosacea, eczema and acne scarring, so if you're after a barrier-supporting serum, this would be a great one to go for.

I'd be intrigued to try this serum after aesthetic treatments like microneedling that boost skin rejuvenation, as this would be the perfect cocktail of ingredients to use in tandem. Do you need it in your routine? I'd say it's not an absolute essential like the Crystal Retinal and C-Tetra serums, but if you want to add another step into your routine or boost the effects on your in-clinic treatments, then this makes a really nice addition to your skincare routine.

Every now and again, certain blushers seem to define a season. And when it comes to Rhode's iconic Pocket Blushes, Toasted Teddy is the shade I'm always asked about, and this sun-kissed shade has reigned supreme for a while now. However, being the beauty data nerd that I am, I decided to look into the Google searches for the most popular Rhode Pocket Blush shades right now. And it seems there's a new shade that is set to define summer 2026 and be on everyone's cheeks next.

Please welcome to your makeup bag, Tan Line (£25), which is the exact shade Hailey uses in the above video. Whilst this isn't a new shade from Rhode, Google searches for Tan Line are up over 5,000% right now, and my feeds suggest this is about to be a TikTok-viral blush, so I'm betting that it's about to become the new Toasted Teddy for summer 2026. And with so much interest in the cream blush shade, I decided to get my hands on one to see what all the hype is about for myself.

The Shade

Tan Line is a wearable pinky-brown that leans a little warm on the skin. A lot of blush shades scare me, but on my light skin, it's become a new favourite going into summer when I want something pink-leaning, not entering bubblegum territory. It's a stunning shade that I've been wearing day and night, thanks to the adaptable formula that allows you to wear it as a gentle glow or layer for a more intense flush of colour. I have Sleepy Girl, which is similar but leans more mauve-y and cool-toned (which I've been wearing on repeat), but Tan Line feels like it's more summery sister.

The Application

If you're not already familiar with the Pocket Blushes, then you might be wondering what the formula is like. I'll be honest, this is one of my absolute favourites. I've tested upwards of hundreds of blushers as a beauty editor, and this creamy formula is foolproof. I'm forever scared of applying too much blush, but this never happens with this formula. It's buttery soft, easy to blend and melts straight into the skin with a satiny finish. It's a glowy blush, but without any sparkle or shimmer.

A little gives a natural-looking glow, but it's easily built up if you're going for full glam. It's easy enough to dot onto your cheeks and blend with your fingers, as it is to apply with a makeup brush. With the sun-kissed tones of this blush, I like to sweep it across my cheeks, tap a little onto my nose and even apply a little to my hairline and chin to look like I've spent the day in the sun.

My Verdict

I'm so glad I discovered this Rhode Pocket Blush shade. I never really got on with Toasted Teddy—which looks stunning on deeper skin tones than mine—but this feels just as sun-kissed on my light skin tone. My skin is starved of sunshine right now (it's crying out for a summer holiday), but Tan Line brings a healthy glow and warmth to my skin that looks like I've just come back from a week abroad, and I just know I'm going to wear it all summer.

Being a beauty editor, I try a lot of hair tools for a living. From hair straighteners to hair multi-stylers and hair dryers to curling wands and thermal brushes, I've tried nearly all of them. I'll admit it's a saturated market, and whenever a new hair tool lands on my desk, I greet it with a bit of scepticism. Can it really do anything different from what's already out there?

However, when I heard that Hershesons was launching The Great Iron (£120), I already knew it wouldn't be just like any other hair tool. My Experience

Before

I'd describe my hair type as somewhat wavy, thick and coarse in areas (hello, frizz). It's not often that I straighten my hair, but my biggest gripe with most straighteners is feeling like they're dragging or tugging through my hair. These, however, glide through my hair like a hot knife through butter and give me a very sleek result in just one pass.

I have a lot of hair, but I could easily straighten my hair in 10 minutes. Of course, if you have curly or coily hair, this will take longer. And if I had to nit-pick, I do wish the plates were slightly wider for straightening larger sections. That being said, the plates are nimble enough to get right to the root and are a great size for short and medium-length hair.

After

It features tourmaline-titanium floating plates that bend and move with your hair as you work it through your lengths. The 360° swivel cord means you never feel tethered by the cord, and there are three different temperature settings (120°C, 180°C and 230°C), which you can toggle through the main power button with ease, so you can tailor the heat to your hair type and texture. I opted for 180°C and applied a heat protector to shield my lengths from the heat. They also heat up very fast, and come with a protective cover and pouch to store when they're not in use.

Possibly my favourite feature is the curved edges, which means you can do so much more with these than regular hair straighteners. I've never mastered curling with hair straighteners (I always end up with kinked curls that look like I've curled ribbons with scissors—anyone else?), but the rounded plates and curved barrel on these mean I can get the soft, loose curls I favour. But that's not all. You can even do S-waves with these to get that piecey Sienna Miller-esque waves that I cannot wait to try over summer. I can see why Hershesons called these The Great Iron and not The Great Hair Straightener, because they really can do so much more than just straighten your hair.

Final Thoughts

Having put The Great Hair Iron through its paces over the past couple of weeks, I have to say I like it even more than I thought I would. I'm already a fan of Hershesons hair tools (the Multi-Tasker is a favourite 3-in-1 tool I use regularly), but this feels like the missing piece in my hairstyling routine. Not only is it a great hair straightener, but it can be used in so many different ways to add soft bends, waves or curls into your hair. At £120, they're an investment, but on par with similar hair straighteners on the market and feel like a justified investment. They're a joy to use, they look chic, they give great results and deliver an incredible shine. But most importantly, the versatility means you're getting multiple hairstylers in one.

In place of traditional show notes, a movie script sat on each seat at the Dior cruise 2027 show in Los Angeles. The brand's new creative director, Jonathan Anderson, dreamed up a cinematic version of the press release in which designers typically explain their inspirations and credit collaborators. As it turns out, it was a precursor of what was to come down the runway: fun, inventive twists on the familiar.

The show perfectly melded the past, present, and future of Hollywood: The moody Hitchcockian lighting and film noir references captured a bygone era, while the just-opened gallery setting and a front row filled with the next generation of Hollywood icons, including Miley Cyrus and Maude Apatow, evoked the industry's current landscape and next chapter. "Christian Dior understood how important the idea of 'the dream' was for people after the war, as a form of escapism," Anderson wrote in the script. "He explored this in couture; his surrealist friends were obsessed with dreams and, of course, Hollywood is 'The Dream Factory.' It was all part of the same cross-cultural shift." Breaking Down the Dior Cruise 2027 Show

Setting the Stage

Los Angeles has no shortage of landmarks that could have hosted Dior. Still, the house smartly set up shop at the city's newest, buzziest attraction: The David Geffen Galleries at The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), which just opened less than a month ago. With its brutalist architecture designed by Peter Zumthor, the atmospheric setting was the perfect backdrop for the show. Dior even wheeled in vintage American cars, echoing the collection's bags inspired by retro Cadillac leather seats.

Screen Sirens

In the show notes, formatted as a movie script, Jonathan Anderson explained that the 1950 film Stage Fright was one of the main starting points for this collection because Christian Dior designed the costumes. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock and starring Marlene Dietrich, the twisty thriller follows an aspiring actress who gets tied up in a murder investigation. Anderson injected this Old Hollywood vibe throughout the collection. "A Dior gray wool flannel coat appears striped with the geometric shadows of Venetian blinds—an echo of film noir," the show notes read.

Fresh Perspectives

This season, Anderson reinvented some of Dior's most memorable motifs, including John Galliano's newspaper print, which now lives on a slouchy leather chain-strap bag. The Dior Saddle bag was also given new life with car-paint finishes and motor-key charms.

Star Power

There's no doubt that Dior's show was the place to be last night. Sabrina Carpenter, Miley Cyrus, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jisoo, Tracee Ellis Ross, Miranda Kerr, Taylor Russell, Jeff Goldblum, Ziwe, Leslie Mann, Ejae, and Who What Wear's May cover star Maude Apatow were among the front-row guests. Carpenter had the privilege of wearing the collection's opening look before it even hit the runway. Now that's some serious pop-star pull.

Trend Forecast

Drop-waist dresses, fringed jackets, shredded jeans, feathery rosettes, California poppies, and long scarves were among my favorite trends from Dior cruise 2027. Baby pink and powder blue lived alongside royal purple and canary yellow, while gray flannels and brown plaids grounded the color palette this season.

When it comes to perfumes, I can hand on heart tell you that the majority of the compliments I get on my scents are of the French perfume variety. Of the 100+ fragrances in my collection, this is easily in my top three most-complimented perfumes ever. Vanilla Powder is the fragrance houses' bestselling scent, and it comes in both eau de parfum and extrait de parfum. The Tech

Let's get into it—what does this LED mask do, exactly? Not only does this LED mask feature four different LED wavelength treatments, but it also has EMS technology. Inside the mask are small silver diodes that produce a current to deliver an electrical current into the skin and muscles, helping to boost skin circulation, plump fine lines and give some temporary lift, too. Each treatment lasts for 10 minutes, and you can use the EMS simultaneously alongside most of the LED treatments, or you can do the LED on its own if you'd prefer not to use the EMS for a treatment. Below is a breakdown of each treatment.

LED Treatments

Red LED light (633nm) + Dark Red LED light (660nm) + Near-Infrared (830nm) + Deep Near-Infrared (1072nm): This treatment setting helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, boost collagen and elastine fibresand improves microcirculation for firmer and tighter skin.

Amber LED light (605nm) + Dark Red LED light (660nm) + Near-Infrared (830nm) + Deep Near-Infrared (1072nm): The second treatment setting helps with pigmentation and redness, helping to calm the skin and boost collagen production of collagen.

Red LED light (633nm) + Dark Red LED light (660nm): This setting helps to balance oil secretion whilst soothing sensitive skin, and also helps to reduce skin redness.

Blue LED light (405nm): Lastly, there is a blue LED treatment. This isn't on the mask, however. On the remote control, you'll find targeted blue light bulbs that you can hold over targeted areas to help clear breakouts and scarring.

EMS Treatments

For each LED setting (aside from the blue light one), you have the option to turn on the EMS setting for the duration of your 10-minute treatment. There are eight different intensities, so you can work your way up from level one and increase as you get used to it. If you've not used any microcurrent device or EMS treatment (such as the Ziip Halo or NuFace) before, this may feel a bit strange at first! So start low and adjust as you acclimatise to the sensations.

There are 16 diodes across the mask that span the lower jaw, mouth, cheeks and outer-eye area. They pulse one area at a time, helping to stimulate the muscles and skin to plump fine lines, boost circulation, and even give a temporary lift.

My Experience

After putting the mask to the test over the past month, I have a lot of thoughts on it. Firstly, I love having the option of different LED treatments, and I definitely saw an improvement in my skin quality after consistent use. Most masks only offer one or two treatments at most, and it's only the more expensive models that usually offer more. For £299, having four LED modes and the EMS makes it a very reasonable investment, considering you could easily spend that on two separate devices.

As for the EMS treatments, I found them surprisingly strong, despite being a confident user of microcurrent devices. It took me about a month to work my way up to the highest setting, so I appreciated having the option to start at a lower level and work my way up as I got used to the EMS sensations (expect lots of involuntary muscle-twitching—my lips were moving in crazy ways). However, if you're a microcurrent fiend, then you can always jump straight into level eight.

What's great about this device is that whilst it does take consistency and time to see the full benefits of the LED, the EMS results feel instantaneous. The electrical pulses definitely helped to de-puff and give me some subtle sculpting, making it a great way to give your skin a face-snatching boost before a big event. Plus, this mask fits perfectly. Some feel uncomfortable during wear, don't sit close to the skin or slide off, but not this one. It has a semi-moulded but flexible shape that secures with two adjustable Velcro straps. I could get up and move around whilst using it, so it's a 10/10 on the fit from me.

Is It Worth it?

Overall, I'm impressed by this LED mask. The price is still an investment, of course. But, for the range of LED treatments and the addition of EMS, it feels worthwhile. If you already own an LED mask and a microcurrent or EMS device, then it's probably worth saving your money. That being said, if you want a range of LED treatments and the option to do your EMS at the same time, then this is a great time-saver to stack your treatments. A lot of microcurrent devices require you to follow along on your phone with an app, so I liked that this Silk'n's method is more passive—I can get the same results while watching Netflix.

Results-wise, my skin definitely looks glowier, feels plumper and even seems a little more sculpted after adding the EMS treatments in. I've been unlucky with some breakouts this past month, but the LED has helped speed up recovery and shorten their lifespan. I do wish that blue light were built into the mask, but the targeted controller treatment is useful if you only need to treat one area. Overall, I definitely think it's a worthwhile investment. LED takes both consistency and time to work, so if you're using it daily, you can expect to see great results.

From viral toners, SPFs to cult-favourite retinols, each launch genuinely seems to spark a fresh wave of obsession online. As a beauty editor, I can say it's one of the very few brands heralded as an original disruptor.

So when the The Ordinary Volufiline 92% + Pal-Isoleucine 1% Plumping Serum landed on my desk, I was all ears. The serum promises to tackle fine lines while improving signs of lost elasticity, and it's also positioned as a subtler, non-invasive alternative to tweakments, like filler.

Sure, I'm partial to a little bit of Botox, but I've never saddled up to filler. And whilst I'd never want to erase all my lines (they do, after all, add character and are a totally normal part of ageing), I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to hold onto my skin's scaffolding for as long as possible. So, could this new serum be the answer? Here's what happened when I gave it a go.

How Does The Ordinary Volufiline 92% + Pal-Isoleucine 1% Plumping Serum Work?

On first impressions, the bottle is teeny tiny at just 15ml, and while the formula is full of ingredients that are barely pronounceable, it's actually a product that is more straightforward than it seems. The standout ingredient is volufiline, which is the patented trade name for a plant-derived complex that's known as sarsasapogenin. It makes up 92% of the formula whilst being dissolved in an oil base.

It’s an ingredient that brands are increasingly turning to, and the reason it has been gaining traction in the skincare industry is for its ability to help restore fullness to areas that can lose firmness over time, including the undereyes, cheeks, temples and smile lines.

The serum also boasts 1% pal-isoleucine, which is a combination of amino acids and lipids that improves absorption whilst also supporting the skin’s natural collagen and elastin production. Together, these ingredients are why this serum has quickly earned the nickname "filler in a bottle" among beauty TikTokers.

As for what the experts think? "The anhydrous (water-free) lipid-heavy texture makes formulation sense because volufiline is oil-soluble, and The Ordinary avoided unnecessary fragrance or filler ingredients," reveals award-winning aesthetic doctor, Sophie Shotter, who, on the whole, gives the serum the green light. "The ingredient list is short and focused, and the peptide-like amino acid derivative is associated with skin cushioning and firmness," she adds.

Here’s the rub, though, and it’s one of the biggest issues I currently have with beauty marketing jargon: there isn’t a single skincare product on God’s green earth that can replace the results of injectables.

Dr Shotter agrees: "Despite the 'filler in a bottle' marketing, it can’t behave like actual dermal filler. Injectable fillers physically add volume beneath the skin by placing hyaluronic acid deep into tissue, instantly lifting and restructuring facial contours."

Essentially, no topical serum can penetrate deeply enough to recreate that structural effect. "Any visible improvement from volufiline is likely coming from surface hydration, smoother texture, mild temporary swelling and possibly very small increases in superficial lipid storage, not true volumisation of facial fat pads," reveals Dr Shotter.

It’s also why, she tells me, the results are subtle, gradual and maintenance-dependent rather than dramatic or sculpting. "The science behind volufiline is also limited, with most studies being small and manufacturer-linked, so while the product may modestly improve skin appearance, it is nowhere close to replacing fillers in either mechanism or outcome."

So, has it won me over? Well, yes, there is a lot to love about this product. I was worried the oily texture would break me out, but it's surprisingly non-greasy and sinks in quickly, so you can follow with your moisturiser or SPF. Did it help with lines? Yes, some of them. After ten days, I noticed a subtle difference in my crow’s feet. As for volumising my deep nasolabial folds that run from my nose down past my mouth, I didn't really see a huge difference, but I'll keep going with it.

Dr Shotter tells me, "For around £20, it’s more transparent and better formulated than many viral ‘volufiline’ products online, which often rely on vague concentration claims and weaker formulations."

She also wasn't surprised that I saw some results. "Realistically, the serum may give subtle improvements in skin plumpness, softness and surface fullness over several weeks, especially in areas where dehydration and fine lines create shadows, like under-eyes or smile lines."

And that's exactly what it's done for me. Ultimately, if you are looking to fade lines and don't want to touch retinol or fork out more than £20, I'd say it's definitely worth a punt.

My hair might be thick, but the weight of it all means my roots often look seriously flat. No matter how many volumising hair products I use, I can never get that bouncy finish I long for. Sure, using a hot brush or hair rollers every day might make a difference, but as someone who works a busy 9-5 and prioritises sleep over anything else, I know I won't be able to commit to such a complicated styling routine. Instead, like most, I am looking for a relatively quick fix to give my hair some va-va voom. Enter Bouf haircare.

This chic-looking Australian beauty brand launched back in 2025, and has since made its way over to UK shores. Known (and loved) for its viral "Flouf Factor Growth" range, this brand puts hair strength and growth at the forefront of its messaging, with every "Flouf Factor" product powered by the brand's patented FGF5-blocking technology (FGF5 is a protein that essentially stops your hair from growing, btw).

However, what really caught my attention when researching the brand was the concise edit of products, the easy-to-follow routine and affordable price point. Even as a beauty editor, I find the world of haircare overhwhelming, but this launch was a refreshing change. So, I did what any good journalist would do, and called the products in to try them out for myself.

With four products currently available, including a shampoo, conditioner, leave-in hair mask and scalp serum, I decided to put everything to the test on hair wash day. Of course, it goes without saying that you would need to use the scalp serum for a long time to see results, but I was intrigued to see whether I'd notice any immediate changes when using the rest of the range. So, I stepped straight into the shower and got to work.

The first thing I noticed when testing the shampoo and conditioner was how fresh and subtle the scent was. I personally don't like anything too overpowering, so this already got a big tick from me. The only thing I didn't like was that the shampoo didn't lather that much, but it did leave my roots feeling squeaky clean, so I can't complain. The conditioner was nice and lightweight yet still felt nourishing, and when I towel-dried my hair after washing, I could already tell that my ends felt softer and like they had more elasticity.

I applied the leave-in mask onto damp ends, and wow. This product feels like butter, and after applying a small amount, my brush glided through my hair with ease. If you have finer hair, I would definitely be careful not to apply too much, as it could weigh hair down, but I have to say, this might be my favourite product from the brand so far. I also applied the scalp serum to my roots, and whilst the brand recommends using it for at least three months to see results, I'm already impressed by how lightweight and non-greasy the formula is. The minty scent and fun dropper applicator also get top points from me.

After using all four products from the brand, I can confidently say that I am excited to add everything to my permanent haircare routine. After blow-drying my hair, I was blown away (pardon the pun) by how healthy and bouncy it looked and felt, and that's just after one use. Seriously, I can never get my roots to look this voluminous without heaps and heaps of product, which inevitably makes them look greasy, but I am so impressed by the shampoo and conditioner alone.

When new brands come on the scene, I'm always a little skeptical about whether we need more products in our lives, but Bouf's simple, science-based approach feels like a welcome change. Oh, and the packaging is to die for, isn't it? I can see why this brand went viral, and I don't doubt it will only grow in popularity. I can't wait to see what the team comes up with next...

Growing up, I always loved my hooded eyes. However, having a genetically heavier brow and deep-set eyes means that, now in my early thirties, I can see some signs of ageing and a little more drooping around my outer eyes that no eye cream nor microcurrent device can truly lift. It's not extreme hooding, or something I spot when looking in the mirror exactly, but in photos, I've noticed that my eyes now look smaller, more squinty and less awake than they used to when I smile. My eyeshadow and eye makeup also don't sit as well as they used to. It's not a big deal, but I often feel I look more tired than I feel.

I'd already tried a couple of treatments for my hooded eyes, including Sofwave and some Botox around my eyes, but I had yet to try a Botox brow lift. So, I went to visit consultant ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon, Dr Elizabeth Hawkes, to try the treatment for myself. Thinking of trying a Botox brow lift for yourself? What Is a Botox Brow Lift?

"Botox is a neuromodulator, meaning it works at the site of a nerve and muscle at the neuromuscular junction and inhibits the muscle from contracting," says Dr Hawkes. "It functions as an anti-wrinkle injection to reduce the formation of lines, and it is used quite frequently around the eyes, but it can also help with hooded eyes and lifting the brow area. It can subtly change the brow and upper eye by lifting or opening to better frame the face, and gently soften lines without inhibiting expression," she says.

"Whilst Botox cannot eliminate excess skin in the upper eyelids [only a surgical procedure called an upper blephroplasty can remove excess skin], when strategically placed with a clear understanding of the interaction between the frown muscles and the forehead muscles, Botox can lift the position of the eyebrows, and this is commonly referred to as a chemical brow lift," she adds.

During a Botox brow lift, your practitioner will typically treat the glabellar complex (in between the eyebrows) as well as the upper portion of the orbicularis oculi (a sphincter-like muscle that encircles the eye area).

"The aim of a non-surgical brow lift using neuromodulators is to relax the depressor muscles of the brow, primarily the glabellar complex and the upper portion of the orbicularis oculi," says Dr Hawkes. However, a good practitioner will always ensure the dose and placement are tailored to your facial anatomy. "The treatment is always tailored," she says. "The dose and placement depend on the patient’s anatomy and the degree of lift they’re looking to achieve. In some cases, a small amount can be placed in the frontalis (the brow elevator), but this requires precision, as over-treatment can lead to heaviness. It’s very much a case-by-case approach."

Who Is It Suitable for?

A Botox brow lift can be an option for those wanting to achieve a more refreshed eye area, making it a good treatment for those with hooded eyes. It's also a good first step before considering surgical procedures, such as an upper blephroplasty. "There are some patients who present with very mild to mild hooding that can be treated with Botox without needing surgical intervention; however, it all comes down to consultation," says Dr Hawkes.

"Many patients opt to go down an injectable route, almost as a segue to surgery, as they can better understand how they would look and can possibly stave off surgery for a couple of years," she says. "Results vary, but most patients can expect a subtle lift of around 1-2mm. Whilst that may sound minimal, it’s often enough to create a fresher, more open appearance.

However, it's important to manage your expectations, as it won't give the same results as a surgical procedure. "An upper blepharoplasty will deliver a more significant and structural change, particularly where there is excess skin. However, not everyone is a candidate for surgery," says Dr Hawkes. "In younger patients, especially, we tend to favour non-surgical options first. A neuromodulator brow lift can offer a subtle elevation and help improve the appearance of hooded lids, but expectations should remain realistic. It enhances rather than replaces surgery," she says.

Botox can also be used to correct brow or lid asymmetry to help achieve more balance around the eye area.

How Long Does It Last?

The effects of Botox typically begin to appear within one to two days, but full results are usually visible within one to two weeks after treatment," says Dr Hawkes. "Botox is usually metabolised and out of your system within 12 weeks, but many patients continue to see results for up to four to six weeks beyond that, depending on individual factors such as metabolism and muscle activity," she says.

You'll be pleased to know that a Botox brow lift had minimal discomfort as aesthetic treatments go, and also has minimal-to-no downtime. "This is considered a low-pain procedure, and most patients rate it around one out of 10 in terms of discomfort with no significant downtime," she says. "Small bumps may appear at the injection sites immediately after treatment, but they usually resolve within 15 minutes. As with most injectable treatments, there is a small risk of bruising, though it is generally minimal."

Aftercare

There is minimal downtime immediately after the treatment, and you can resume most activities after 24 hours. "Aftercare is minimal. Small bumps at the injection sites are common and usually settle within 10–15 minutes, says Dr Hawkes.

"Patients should avoid touching or rubbing the area for around six hours, and refrain from exercise and alcohol for 24 hours," she says. "There is a small risk of bruising, although this is uncommon and can be minimised with careful technique."

Most people can have a Botox treatment; however, contraindications include pregnancy, breastfeeding and certain neuromuscular conditions such as myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, Dr Hawkes tells me. "In experienced hands, it’s a very safe procedure with a well-established track record. Botulinum toxin has been used in both medical and aesthetic settings for decades and has a strong safety profile," she says.

How Much Does It Cost?

The cost of a Botox brow lift can vary depending on location, the experience of the practitioner and the areas treated. "Costs can vary depending on practitioner expertise and treatment complexity, " says Dr Hawkes. A Botox brow lift with Dr Hawkes starts from £395.

My Botox Brow Lift Experience

I met with Dr Hawkes in her London clinic and discussed my concerns with her during my consultation. After she assessed my eye area and facial expressions, she cleansed the area and marked out the injection points to treat. I was also given a stress ball, but honestly, I didn't need to use it as it was virtually painless thanks to Dr Hawkes' expert hands. The injections around the eyes were a little pinchy, but it was all over and done with after a couple of seconds. Dr Hawkes treated the areas between my brows as well as the outer eye area, and it was all done within 10 minutes. I had some initial redness and bumps that disappeared after 15 minutes or so. After my treatment, I could resume my usual skincare routine that evening.

As the Botox takes time to work, you won't see immediate results. However, I could start to see the effects kick in after two or three days. Over the course of two weeks, I could gradually see my brows looking more lifted and the lines around my eyes and between my brows soften. I still have full movement in my face, but my eyes looked more refreshed and open, even with an eye-to-eye smile.

My Final Thoughts

I'm now one month post-treatment, and I couldn't be happier with the results from my Botox brow lift. I still look like myself, and I still have hooded eyes; however, my eyes look more open and refreshed. Where the muscles have relaxed, my eyes are less squinty when I smile, which makes them look more wide-awake, and the lines around my eyes have softened, too. I also see a lift in my brows, and although subtle, it makes all the difference in opening up my eyes and giving me more eyelid space.

Perhaps it's a placebo effect, but not only do my eyes look perkier and wide-awake, but I also feel more energised and less tired as a result. Having hooded eyes means I'm often subconsciously lifting my brows up for fear of looking tired or grumpy (which then results in tension on my facial muscles), and so I love that I don't need to worry about looking sleepy or cross when my face is at rest. Now, my eye area looks refreshed and more open, and even my eye makeup sits better now.

Of course, having a Botox brow lift can be a significant financial commitment, as results will only last three months or so. However, the short-term results also mean you can see if you like the results without committing to a more permanent change. Personally, I'm enjoying my results, and I will plan to look at repeating the treatment ahead of special occasions when I want to look and feel my best for photos. I can't recommend a Botox brow lift—especially one with Dr Hawkes—enough.

I'm a beauty editor who has been on a nail health journey over the past year. I'm on the quest for long and healthy nails, and so I've been testing all the best nail strengtheners and cuticle oils that come my way. However, there are two problems with this. One, these nail health products work best on bare nails (so I have to forgo my nail polish), and two, many nail strengtheners I've tested are almost always clear, which can sometimes be a bit boring and adds another step if I'm planning on putting polish on top. Final Thoughts

I'm so impressed with these nail tints. I love how plump and glossy they make my nails look, and they easily last between five and seven days, and because they're so sheer, any chips are barely visible anyway. The shades are so pretty, but I have to say Raspberry is my favourite, which delivers a sheer pink flush to the nails. No matter the shade, one coat adds a brightening tint, whereas two or three coats provide a juicier finish if you want a stronger tint. They're a great low-maintenance nail colour if you want something that strengthens your nails whilst adding a glossy glow as well. I'm excited to layer up the different shades and find a new favourite nail polish layering combo.

I've always been blessed with thick hair, which means I've never even considered adding a scalp oil or scalp serum into my haircare routine. Sure, I've moaned about it at times, complaining about how long it takes to wash and dry or how much my arm hurts after using my hair straightener, but really, I know how lucky I am. Well, that was the case until about a few months ago, when I was styling my hair into a ponytail and noticed it was seriously thinning and breaking around the front of my head.

I think I counted about five patches of sparse hair and lots of shorter tufts that had clearly broken over time, and suddenly panicked about wearing an updo or slicked-back bun, as I convinced myself it was too noticeable. Of course, none of my friends and family could even tell, but I was already too busy researching the best shampoos, scalp oils, hair supplements and more to try and help the situation. I'm not proud of it (I am, after all, a beauty editor with access to some of the top hair experts in the country), but I even turned to TikTok to see what other people recommended.

There was one hair serum that kept cropping up on my FYP. Of course, I'm talking about the Kérastase Genesis Anti-Chute Fortifiant Serum, the viral product designed to make your hair appear fuller and thicker.

The before-and-afters were enough to convince me to give it a go, and it's safe to say I've been putting the serum through its paces over the past four weeks.

It goes without saying that you'll need to use it consistently for a lot longer than a month to see a real difference, but after just four weeks, I'm already sold.

Formulated with edelweiss native cells, ginger root and aminexil, the nourishing hair serum is designed to reduce hair loss by improving fibre resistance, making your hair stronger and more resilient. Not only that, but it also supports the scalp's natural barrier. Seeing as my two main issues were breakage and thinning hair around my scalp, it seemed like the perfect product.

I have to say, it's incredibly simple to use, and it has been easy to slot into my daily beauty routine. The brand advises applying three to four pipettes on damp or dry hair; however, I personally found this a little too much product, and instead used around one to two pipettes per evening. I applied it to my scalp before bed, massaged it in, then styled my hair into a plait or low ponytail to sleep. I was worried I would wake up with greasy roots, but this product sinks in quickly and is genuinely undetectable the next day. It smells fresh and powdery, too, so I actually loved using this in between wash days. In fact, I've not even reached for a hair perfume since using this.

As you can see, after just four weeks, there are already some small changes to my hair. I've noticed it shedding a lot less, and the roots already look fuller and more voluminous. Whilst there's no major hair regrowth, it's early days, and I have high hopes for the future. I know there are plenty of scalp serums out there designed for broken, thinning hair, but this is the only one I've used that has made such a noticeable impact in such a short amount of time. Not only that, but it's the one serum that I've found easy to slot into my routine thanks to the lightweight, non-greasy formula. When it comes to these kinds of products, consistency is key, so finding something I can easily apply before bed (and doesn't require me to wash my hair every single day) is a game-changer. Plus, the smell alone is to die for. Seriously, if Kérastase brought out a perfume in this scent, I'd be buying it in bulk.

I've been a beauty editor for 10 years. Throughout that time, I've tested hundreds of face mists, but I've never been wowed by a single one. (There, I said it!) Most of the formulas on the market are simple, hydrating spritzes that feel nice and refreshing but never make a real difference in my skin or improve the efficiency of my skincare routine—that is, until this year.

My Review

IMO, this face mist is worth its weight in gold. The biotech-driven, serum-in-mist formula is far beyond any standard face mist I've used before. And when I say "serum in mist," I mean it. It has a silky, slightly viscous texture that feels like a spray version of my favorite hyaluronic acid serum. Although, unlike hyaluronic acid, it goes way beyond hydration. After using it once or twice a day for a month, I see a real difference in my skin. It's smoother, calmer, and less inflamed—impressive, considering I struggle with dryness and sensitivity from rosacea.

It makes my skin look dewy, without looking overtly shiny. And in my experience, the fine mist doesn't disturb sunscreen or makeup, except for my mascara on occasion. (I've noticed it can smudge near the waterline when I use this face mist multiple times a day, but I don't wear waterproof mascara—just a note.)

I have both the full-size and travel-size versions. The former sits firmly on my desk for easy access throughout the day. The latter is set aside for my carry-on bag. I'm keeping it on standby to hydrate, strengthen, and protect my skin against the stress, pollution, and drying effects of travel. My face-mist fixation is unlocked.

"Whether I'm looking for pretty dresses or the latest blouse trend, the first place I go is Reformation. Reformation always manage to get feminine dressing right without being overly sweet, and the gingham two piece from their Nara Smith collab is no exception. As this is technically sleepwear, the buttons stop halfway down to show a little midriff—an extra detail that would make an otherwise quite twee top feel infinitely cooler. Pros and Cons: Ultra-soft and fluid, this cotton top is designed for lounging so the fit is relaxed. Opaque but breathable, this is too good just to wear in bed, but it is ideal for pulling on on weekends when you don't want to wear a plain white tee. "If there was to be one top that perfectly encapsulates exactly why blouses are having a moment again, it has to be this from Sea NY. Romantic, dramatic, and impossibly elegant, as soon as you slip into this pretty blouse you feel expensive. Going by the reaction of my fellow editors when I stepped out with this on, this is a showstopper, and although i'd be tempted to save it for best—it has to be said, this looks just as cool with cargo shorts and flats as it does with a full length skirt and a heel. Pros and Cons: This comes lined with a matching cami underneath so you don't have to worry about what colour bra to pair with this unique shade of antique cream, but if you wanted to, you could amp up the drama by removing it entirely for a nod to the "underwear as outerwear" sheer trend. The sizing is generous (again, it is intentionally flowy), but sticking with your usual size works. If there's one thing you need to know about me, it's that I love a good nail polish recommendation. After developing a sensitivity to gel polish a few years ago, I've been on the search for the best gel nail alternatives. I've tried almost every nail polish in my local drugstore. You name it, I've painted it on my nails.

Fairy Tailor is the perfect pink, IMO. It's a sheer milky nail colour with a hint of delicate pink. It's translucent, so I prefer layering up two coats for more opacity and a milkier effect. It really brightens the nail plate, so it acts like a skin tint for the nails whilst letting your natural nails shine through. It applies smoothly and dries pretty fast, too. But most importantly, it leaves a glossy lacquer and plumped finish that looks and feels very similar to gel polish. I find it also acts as a protective shield to my weak and bendy nails.

I finish it with two coats of the Gel Couture Top Coat (£12). I'd highly recommend pairing it with this nail top coat, as it really does make all the difference in how well it lasts. If you apply another coat on day seven, you can easily have your manicure last almost two weeks.

The polish contains "flex.e gel technology", which bonds to the nail and moves with your nails to prevent chipping. However, it's easy to remove with regular nail polish, unlike gel polish. I wore the Fairy Tailor shade and top coat on a recent trip where I was lugging a suitcase around, and despite being very heavy-handed with my nails this week, I've only had one small chip. So I'm seriously impressed. If you're looking to switch to a nail polish that rivals the longevity of gel polish, then this is one of the next best things you can try. And the Fairy Tailor shade is such a versatile shade that will see you through all seasons and occasions.

I don't mean to brag, but thanks to my job, I've been lucky enough to try some of the best LED masks on the market. From the iconic CurrentBody LED mask to Beauty Pie's more affordable LED offerings and even luxury options from the likes of Dr Dennis Gross, I've tested my fair share of skincare tools, and they've become a key part of my skincare routine.

That being said, I'm not oblivious to the fact that they are a serious investment. If I weren't working as a beauty editor, there's no way I'd feel comfortable dropping £500 on a piece of skincare tech. Yes, the cost per wear is worth it, and yes, regular LED facials would cost you way more in a clinic, but it's still a huge amount of money. So, when a slightly more affordable LED mask from Therabody landed on my desk, I was intrigued to see whether it would live up to its more luxury competitors. After just two weeks of testing, I can't imagine myself using another LED mask ever again.

I'll be honest, I usually like to wait a little longer before reviewing high-tech skincare tools like these, as it can take months of consistent use to see visible results. That being said, thanks to the incredible technology in this LED mask, after 14 days of use, it's already become a go-to product (yes, I've already had compliments on my skin), so I had to write about it straight away.

What Is the Therabody TheraFace Mask Glo?

I'll be totally honest with you, although I was familiar with Therabody (I swear by the brand's massage gun), I had never heard of this LED mask before a sample landed on my desk. So, what is it? As the name suggests, this mask is designed to help you get your glow on. While most masks offer red LED light therapy, this mask features red and blue light settings, along with massage technology to increase circulation and relieve tension.

LED Mask Features

The LED Light: As mentioned, this mask combines red, infrared and blue light technology. It features 633 nm (nanometers) of red light, 830 nm of infrared and 415 nm of blue light. While red light can help stimulate collagen and elastin (which in turn plumps and firms the skin), blue light is known to help fight acne-causing bacteria.

The Mask: While some LED masks are made of flexible silicone, this mask has a more rigid design. That being said, I found that it covered the entire face. Plus, it features an impressive 504 LED lights to ensure even distribution on the skin. The best bit is that it's cordless, meaning you can wear it hands-free.

The Straps: The mask comes with two different adjustable straps, one that sits around the back of the head and one that secures the mask in place on top. When the massage function is turned on, you feel it on the side of your head throughout the strap.

The Settings: While the mask comes with a preset treatment time of 12 minutes (four minutes of each light), you can also select a shorter four-minute treatment. Plus, you can also use the massage setting all on its own, making it a great facial massager tool, too.

My Review

I have to say, for £299, this is one of the most impressive LED masks I've tried. I usually reach for a more expensive model, but since testing this, it's become my new go-to. I love the fact that it offers both blue and red light, and the added massage feature is such a treat to use at the end of a long day. I thought the four-minute treatment time would appeal to me, but I've actually been using the 12-minute treatment. I think this is because the mask is hands-free, meaning I can go about my evening while wearing it. The fact that it can change from red to infrared and then blue light without me even having to press a button is so handy (as you can see above, if you want to move on to the next treatment quickly, you can press a button at the side to move things along).

Like I said at the start, I've only been using it for two weeks, so although I can't comment too much on the visible difference in my skin, I have noticed a reduction in breakouts (yes, an LED mask can be one of the best acne products). Whether that's down to the mask is hard to say, but I'm so excited to see what results I get the more I continue to use it.

If I had to find some downsides, one thing I would say is that the eye shields can leave a few marks around the eyes after a treatment. However, they do disappear after a few minutes. Another thing is that the design is quite bulky, so I wouldn't recommend travelling with this mask unless you have a lot of suitcase space. Apart from that, I can't fault it.

How Does This LED Mask Compare to Others?

I know I've spoken about it at length, but I really want to highlight how this mask differs from others, as it's truly what makes the price so impressive. While some masks feature red and infrared light, this mask offers red, infrared and blue light LED technology, allowing it to tackle a wider range of skincare concerns. Not only that, but it's the only mask I've ever tried that also has a massage setting, making it a dream to use. The full-face coverage is also impressive, and while there are a few hands-free designs out there, this is one of the more affordable skincare tools on the market. Don't get me wrong, £299 is still a huge investment, but I wouldn't recommend it unless I believed it was truly worth it.

I seem to have the weakest nails in existence. Honestly, I can't grow my nails for the life of me, and even after taking a really long break from acrylic and gel manicures and trying every nail strengthener under the sun, they are still constantly breaking. It might sound counterintuitive, but this clever serum hydrates and improves the nail's flexibility. You're probably thinking, wait, do I want my nails to be more flexible? The thing is, when nails are dry and hard, they can be more prone to snapping, so flexible nails can actually help nails grow longer.

The formula is infused with a probiotic ferment, a marine bioactive extract and a bioactive tropical nectar to nourish the nail and enhance the natural barrier.

However, while the hydrating formula is certainly important, what really stood out to me when testing this product was just how easy it was to add to my daily beauty routine. I've tried using nail strengtheners before, but as someone who hates painting her own nails, I never stayed consistent. I've also dabbled in cuticle oils and hand creams from time to time, but found them a bit messy (and greasy) to apply.

The great thing about this serum is that all you have to do is apply one drop to each nail, massage it in and let it absorb overnight. I keep the bottle on my bedside table and apply it just before going to sleep, as it sinks instantly and doesn't feel sticky. I've used it consistently for two whole weeks, and I can't believe how much better my nails look.

As you can see, my nails are smooth, hydrated and a whole lot stronger. Of course, it goes without saying that taking a break from gel manicures, keeping my nails a little shorter with one of the best nail files and wearing gloves when doing things like cleaning have also helped my overall nail health, but nothing has made them as smooth as this serum. Plus, I love that it hydrates my nails and cuticles in one go, as it minimises the need for multiple products.

If you're also on a bit of a journey with your nails this year, I highly recommend adding this product to your routine. For £15, it's a worthwhile investment in your long-term nail health.

Now that spring is finally here, you might, like me, finally be turning your attention to your feet. Sandal season isn't far away, the weddings are fast approaching, and summer holidays are on the horizon. All of this means you might want to panic-book a pedicure after hiding your feet in boots all winter. If you're anything like me, you might not want to shell out for a regular pedi every four to six weeks (as fun as it is to try some pedicure trends) or have to sit in the salon for an hour or more at a time. Whilst it's a nice treat, your time and money are precious, after all.

But likewise, having to slave away with a foot file is no fun either, which is why I've been swearing by Footner Exfoliating Foot Socks (£12) for as long as I can remember. It might not be the sexiest of products I could be writing about as a beauty editor, but it's easily one of the best beauty products I recommend to people the most (and actually buy myself, despite having access to a beauty cupboard of products). I've tried many foot masks, body scrubs and foot creams, but honestly? Nothing is as effective as this addition to my body care routine.

However, there are a few things you need to know before using Footner for the first time (yes, there is shedding involved, and it's not for the faint-hearted). Your softest feet yet await below.

How Does Footner Work?

There's no elegant way to say it, other than your feet quite literally shed. Like a snake sheds its skin. Inside the socks is a combo of lactic and alpha-hydroxy acids, which work in tandem to exfoliate. Think of them as a supercharged exfoliator for your feet. You simply pop them on for an hour and let them get to work. This isn’t a foot mask where you see immediate results, however. Instead, the effects are delayed and only start to show around 5-10 days later, when you’ll start to see the skin shedding. It can take longer for thicker skin, but the whole process takes around 10-20 days.

How to Use Footner

Inside the box are two huge socks. You cut each one open along the top before slipping your feet inside, and there’s a sticky tab that you peel off to secure the fit around your ankles. The socks are large enough to accommodate feet size 10 and under, so if you have smaller feet, then I’d recommend wearing a pair of socks over the top to ensure a secure fit and also allow you to walk around if you need to (otherwise, it’s basically impossible on hard flooring). Then, all you need to do is kick back for an hour with your favourite show whilst the ingredients get to work.

How Long to See Results

Don’t expect an immediate result with these. The whole process takes around 10-20 days, and you’re unlikely to see any shedding until around day five or six, or sometimes a little longer. By which point, I highly, highly advise hiding your feet away under socks and shoes. Now is not the time for open-toed shoes or sandals! Start the process around two weeks before you plan to have your feet on show, and you’ll be totally fine. If you have thinner skin on your feet, the timeframe will be shorter. But for thicker skin, it can take longer for the full process to complete.

You’ll start to notice the dry skin lifting off on areas like the toes, arches and balls of the feet first. Areas with harder skin, such as on the heels, take a little longer to fully lift. It’s gross, so I’m going to spare you the photos, but trust me, it’s so satisfying.

As tempting as it is, Footner recommends that you don’t peel the dry skin off; instead, let it fall away on its own. That being said, you can hurry the process along by soaking your feet in warm water, and also soaking your feet prior to applying the exfoliating socks. It sounds counterintuitive, but you should also avoid moisturising your feet during the process and prolong the peeling. So leave moisturising them with a body lotion or body cream for the time being.

My Thoughts

If you can put up with the long process of the shedding, then these exfoliating foot socks are actually brilliant. It takes a bit of logistics to make sure you use them during a time when you can hide your feet away for a while (i.e. not two days before your wedding pedicure or just before summer holiday), but they’re a great alternative if you don’t want to spend the time or money getting an in-salon pedi.

Once you’ve gone through the ordeal of the shedding, you’ll be left with baby-soft feet that last for a good couple of months. I try to do them quarterly or before a summer holiday, and they make maintaining the results so much easier in between treatments.

I do have to say that the shedding can be messy. As much as you can try to contain the dead skin, you may have moments where you find bits falling off inside your socks, on your carpet or in the shower. You’re going to be hoovering a lot. My advice? Buy a pair now before summer so you have time to hide your feet away before sandal season fully commences. Trust me, you’ll enjoy the softest feet ever over the coming months.

When a sample landed on my desk, I tried not to get carried away by the shimmery bottle and gold pipette-style applicator, and instead, told myself I'd put the tanning drops through their paces before deciding if they deserved a place in one of my many tanning roundups.

Two days later, my glow was so good that I cleared my calendar to type up this in-depth review and share the easiest (and chicest) way to trick everyone into thinking you've just been in the French Riviera. I'm pretty good at predicting the next big thing in beauty, and I can almost guarantee that the most stylish of people will be using this exact product throughout the summer.

But why, I hear you ask. First of all, how good do they look? I know, I know, the formula is more important, but let's face it, who doesn't want their bathroom cabinet filled with beautiful things? Secondly, they don't leave your skin feeling super dehydrated. While DHA (the ingredient that actually makes your skin look tan) is typically quite drying, these drops are packed with hyaluronic acid to help counteract the dryness and leave your skin feeling silky soft.

The brand recommends applying the product directly to the skin before your moisturiser; however, I actually mix the two products to get the most radiant result. The great thing is you can basically use these drops however you want to customise your glow.

As you can see, the formula is infused with golden pearlescent pigments, adding a hint of shimmer that makes your complexion look so luminous. The golden undertones also ensure a natural-looking tan that lasts for a good few days before needing to be reapplied. If you don't like any shimmer on your skin, then you've been warned, as these are definitely on the more iridescent side, but I'm personally a big fan.

All in all, they look chic, are easy to use and actually work. Yep, Dior has knocked it out of the park with this one. Prepare to see this product all over social media.

I'll be honest, I've never been a huge fan of foundation. I like a radiant, dewy, natural-looking finish, and although I've tried some of the best glowing foundations on the market, I still find them a little too heavy. The Formula

As with most skin tints, this product feels incredibly lightweight on the skin. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it feels like I'm wearing nothing at all. The formula is designed to boost the skin's moisture levels, with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, plant-based squalane and meadowfoam seed oil. It glides on like butter, creating a second-skin effect with a naturally radiant finish. Not only that, but it somehow creates a filter-like, blurring effect that smooths over blemishes and uneven texture, which is no mean feat for a product of this sort. Skin tints don't usually deliver great coverage, but this product truly is the best of both worlds. Of course, if you have any major breakouts or dark circles and you want to cover them up, I'd recommend using a concealer on top, but this skin tint makes me feel confident enough to skip concealer altogether.

The Application

The ingredients alone make this a dream to apply, but there are definitely a couple of ways to get the most out of the product. If you want a more natural, "my skin but better" finish, I'd recommend applying a small amount and blending with your fingers. However, for days when I want to build up the coverage slightly, I like using my favourite foundation brush. My top tip would be to start small, as I have found that applying too much product can cause a little bit of cakiness throughout the day (but nothing compared to a heavy foundation, of course).

I opted for shade 4, a fair shade with slightly cooler undertones. There are 18 shades on offer, with a range of undertones to suit your skin, but I would love to see a wider range from the brand in the future, as these days more and more skin tints are offering an impressive array of shades.

The Results

I don't say this lightly, but this is the best my skin has looked all year, and I'm putting it down to the Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint. Whenever I wear it, I feel like I have an actual filter on my face that blurs any imperfections while still letting my natural skin shine through. Not only am I obsessed with the finish, but I can't get over how lightweight it feels on the skin. I hate that moment at the end of the day when your foundation feels heavy, and you're desperate to get home, grab your cleanser and take all your makeup off, but I've yet to experience this with this product. I'm so happy to have finally found something this spring that's enabled me to ditch foundation altogether, and I know that this skin tint will be a summer staple for those glowing makeup looks, too.

As an editor with combination skin, dealing with oiliness is the bane of my beauty life. My complexion often leans on the shiny side (no matter how much powder and setting spray I use) and especially so now that we're entering the warmer months of the year. So I know exactly why some people might be reluctant to wear an SPF underneath their makeup. The idea of layering on another product seems counterintuitive when you're trying to combat oiliness underneath your foundation or skin tint, right? And after testing hundreds and hundreds of SPFs throughout my decade working as a beauty journalist, I've finally found one that looks and feels virtually weightless underneath my makeup and doesn't contribute to my midday shine either. And the best part? It comes in at under £20. Needless to say, I'm so glad I found the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun SPFs after seeing the K-beauty skincare brand all over my feeds. Beauty of Joseon SPFs

The Formula

Whilst I'm a fan of Beauty of Joseon's Tinted SPF, there are two non-tinted, chemical-based sunscreens that I'm totally obsessed with: Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF50+ and Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh Rice + B5 SPF50+. Truthfully, I love both formulas, but below are the key differences between them.

Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF50+

This TikTok-viral SPF is truly deserving of its hype. The SPF50+ formula is delivered in a soft, creamy lotion texture that melts weightlessly onto the skin on contact. Ingredients-wise, you'll find 30% rice extract, which includes vitamins B, C and E and amino acids alongside grain-fermented extracts that work as a probiotic for the skin.

I find this consistency hydrating enough to use in place of my moisturiser to help prevent any shiny situations throughout the day, but it's a great all-rounder for all skin types that crave hydration without the heaviness of most SPFs. It's best suited to dry or balanced skin types and is soothing and calming on sensitive skin, too. There's zero white cast, and it sinks in quickly, so you can go straight in with makeup if you want. I tend to go for this version in the colder seasons when my skin requires a bit more moisture.

Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh Rice + B5 SPF50+

This formula might be my favourite of the two, especially for the warmer months. It has an even lighter lotion consistency that sinks in immediately with a refreshing and water-like texture, making it a great SPF for oily skin. It quenches the skin with hydration but no greasy residue, no white cast and not a hint of stickiness. I'd recommend this formula for those with oilier or combination skin types who want a virtually weightless SPF that sits well underneath makeup and won't exacerbate any shininess. It sinks in within seconds and doesn't pill underneath my makeup either.

The ingredients differ in this formula too, which includes rice-seed water and vitamin B5 to hydrate and moisturise without being too rich on the skin. It dries down to a totally non-sticky matte finish, and sits well underneath makeup throughout the day. I usually switch to this formula when the weather warms up, and my makeup requires a lighter base.

The Application

Here's a side-by-side comparison of the two formulas. They both sink in pretty fast, but I'd say that the Aqua-Fresh formula just pips it, and the Rice + Probiotics formula feels more moisturising. However, both blend into a second-skin, non-greasy finish and don't leave any white cast.

My Verdict

Honestly? These might be two of the best SPFs I've tried. Not only are they a delight to wear underneath makeup, but they don't leave a hint of oiliness behind either. They're SPFs that I actually want to use. Above, I'm wearing foundation over the top of the SPFs on both sides of my face, and it applied seamlessly and without any excess shine. In fact, I didn't actually need to add powder either. A big thumbs up.

If you're weighing up which one to get, I'd advise going for the Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics SPF50+ formula if you have dry or a balanced skin type, want a bit more hydration or want an SPF that doubles as your moisturiser too. If you're on the oily or combination side, then you will love the Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh Rice + B5 SPF50+. It sits so well underneath makeup and doesn't exacerbate my skin's oily tendencies or cause breakouts. The best part is that they both come in at just £16, making them friendly to your bank account, too.

As a beauty editor, my inbox is brimming with news of new perfume launches every single day. And if there is one fragrance category that seems to be taking off unlike any other, it's vanilla perfumes. It's true, gourmand perfumes have been launching left, right and centre, with seemingly every new fragrance containing notes of the edible variety. However, even as someone with a sweet tooth, I find some vanilla perfumes to be just a hint too sweet or headache-inducing. There's only a handful I actually enjoy wearing.

However, when I first discovered Matiere Premiere Vanilla Powder eau de parfum, my nose was instantly piqued. The idea of a more powdery take on vanilla appealed to me as something airier compared to the hundreds of heavy, syrup-laden vanilla perfumes around. And I'm so glad I tried it, because it's become one of my most-complimented perfumes to date, and it's probably the most long-lasting perfume I've ever tried. The eau de parfum initially won me over, but since trying the newer Vanilla Powder Extrait, the compliments I've received have gone through the roof.

Matiere Premiere Vanilla Powder

Vanilla Powder Eau de Parfum

Needless to say, if you really dislike vanilla perfumes, stop right here. This probably isn't the fragrance for you. However, I will say that this vanilla scent is less syrupy and sugar-laden than most of the heavy vanilla perfumes around. Instead, the eau de parfum version of Vanilla Powder is airy, fluffy and powdery as it sparkles in the air. It has a touch of saltiness to it that keeps it from being overly sweet.

Spritzing the eau de parfum feels like dusting desiccated coconut and powdered vanilla onto your skin, before a smooth, nose-nuzzling muskiness lingers underneath. It's creamy and sophisticated vanilla, and the projection and lasting power are unlike anything else I've ever tried. Most long-lasting perfumes I can smell hours later, but this one? I can smell it the next day. It lingers on knitwear weeks later. I even spritzed it before leaving for work at 7 A.M, and it not only got me several compliments throughout the day, but when I came home that evening, I could still smell it lingering in my bedroom. So it goes without saying that you only need a small, tiny spritz. And you won't need to worry about topping up.

Vanilla Powder Extrait

You might expect the Vanilla Powder Extrait to be dialled up even further, but I actually find it less intense compared to the eau de parfum. It shares the same long-lasting magic, endless silage and mouthwatering fluffiness as the EDP, but with a more smouldering, toasted vanilla powder. Instead, the addition of warm and smooth tonka bean in the extrait melts on the skin with a little more sensual smokiness, as though the edges of the vanilla powder have been caught by a flame. It's one of the most sophisticated vanilla perfumes I've tried, and I've genuinely lost count of the number of compliments it has won me since I got a bottle. Again, you only need one or two spritzes of this fragrance, as both its projection and longevity of the eau de parfum and the extrait are truly unmatched. And whilst they both have a £250 price tag, it feels a more worthy investment given how little you need to use to enjoy the scent all day long without re-applying.

The Verdict

Both Vanilla Powder EDP and Extrait are stunning perfumes, and given how many compliments they've won me and their incredible lasting power, I'd wholeheartedly recommend them. I don't think it's necessary to own both, however. If you prefer a perfume that gets you noticed everywhere you go, the eau de parfum has an addictive powderyness that will float around you like a halo wherever you go. Personally, I find it more potent than the extrait version. However, if I had to choose between them, my heart belongs to the extrait. It has the same powdered vanilla DNA as the eau de parfum, but with a more hypnotic and sophisticated edge. It's still incredibly long-lasting and a total compliment-magnet, but it's smoother and clings a little closer to the skin, which I love.

If you're undecided between the eau de parfum or the extrait, or want to try them before investing in a full-sized bottle, I'd highly recommend trying a perfume discovery set or a travel-sized vial to get to know the scents (a word of warning: you'll probably want both). But perhaps my favourite discovery has been the Vanilla Powder hair perfume, which coats your lengths in a hypnotic veil of powdered vanilla that disperses with every swish of your hair. Trust me, if you wear Vanilla Powder, you're going to be inundated with compliments, so wear it with caution.

A lot of people don't know this, but as well as being a beauty editor, I'm also a fully qualified makeup artist. I trained long before getting into my current career, and I still do all of my friends' and family's makeup before big events. While I'm pretty skilled at creating a seamless base and can do a perfect winged eyeliner with my eyes closed, there's one product that I've still not mastered, and that's a contour stick.

Bronzer was popular, of course, but using cool-toned products to help carve out your cheekbones didn't gain momentum until after I left to study journalism. So, whenever my friends ask me to do a little contour on them, my hands practically shake with nerves.

Well, that was the case until I saw a particular Victoria Beckham Beauty product trending on TikTok, which made contouring look as easy as can be. I got my hands on it straight away and can confirm, it's 100% worth the hype. In fact, I'd say this product has made me an expert in chiselling my cheekbones. Keep on scrolling for my full review.

The Formula

I think a lot of people believe this product is top-tier because of the easy-to-use stick, and while I'm firmly in agreement, I think the formula is another reason the Contour Stylus is a breeze to use. I've tried plenty of contour sticks and cream bronzers in the past, and while some were good, many felt thick, heavy and hard to blend, leaving my cheeks looking muddy rather than naturally defined.

The difference with this product is that it feels lightweight, creamy and hydrating, meaning it blends like butter. Honestly, as far as contour formulas go, I would say that this one is totally fool-proof. If you make a mistake, it's so easy to rectify, and the moisturising formula gives a second-skin finish, so you don't have to worry about any harsh lines.

The Application

The best thing about this product is that it comes in a slim wand, which allows for precise application, especially around the cheekbones and nose. It feels a little like using a pencil, but try to resist the urge to scribble it all over your face. Instead, focus on the areas where you want natural definition. For me, that's my cheekbones, my nose, my jawline and around the temples. All I do is draw it on, then use my fingers or a makeup brush to blend it out. It's so easy that I can do it in the car, on the tube, on a plane or wherever else I need to create a quick makeup look. If you're also a fan of foundation sticks or blusher sticks, then you will love this.

The Shades

There are currently four shades on offer, designed for a range of different skin tones. I opted for "Marble", which also happens to be VB's favourite shade, and found that this worked perfectly with my skin tone. Would I love to see a larger shade range from the brand in the future? Yes. That being said, I do think that each shade feels very considered, and I like that none of them look too warm, as you ideally want to opt for a cooler tone to create that naturally contoured effect.

The Results

As you can see, this product creates a naturally defined finish. If you prefer a statement makeup look, it probably isn't for you, but if you're new to contouring or, like me, just not very good at it, I recommend adding this to your makeup bag ASAP. It's the perfect product for a minimal, glowy makeup look that you can wear every single day. The buttery formula and the slim wand make it the quickest, easiest contouring stick on the market, and it's one of those products that makes you think, "What did I ever do without it?"
