There are always one or two summer trends that spill into fall purely by the will of the wearers. After months of defaulting to swishy skirts and lightweight cotton dresses, September's means it's officially time to welcome jeans back into the heart of our rotations. Building on the balloon-trouser trend that's seen voluminous silhouettes feature in some of the season's chicest outfits, it makes perfect sense that the shape has now been translated into one of our favourite autumn fabrics. With autumn just days away, I've started the annual process of sifting my summery staples from the cool-weather essentials ready to take their place. Intent on channelling that polished, pulled-together energy I crave every September, I'm being particularly selective about what makes it into my autumn rotation. And so far, I've found little reason to look beyond one trouser-and-shoe combination that, IMO, feels chicer than the rest.

Taking my cue from none other than Hailey Bieber, the model and enduring style icon recently sidestepped denim in favour of a supremely chic yet entirely unfussy pairing: slightly cropped black trousers styled with sleek slip-on mules.

It's official: One of the most beloved It bags of the late '90s and early 2000s is back, and it comes just in time to establish itself as a major fall 2026 It item. La Beauté Louis Vuitton is more than a makeup line. The refillable, luxurious formulas created by Dame Pat McGrath also function as objets d'art—collectable items born to be displayed on your vanity and, eventually, passed down for generations. I know I'm going to hold onto my blending brush, lip liner case, and monogrammed lipstick canisters forever, which makes the steeper price feel a tad more manageable. Future heirlooms, after all, don't come cheap.

Recently, the house announced a particularly precious addition to the artful lineup: a limited-edition collaboration between McGrath and Louis Vuitton Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière, which officially lands in stores today. Celebrating the 130th anniversary of the iconic monogram, the collection is inspired by two Louis Vuitton canvases: Monogram Dune and Monogram Infrarouge. "Monogram Dune is about a poetic, luminous woman—minimal, warm, and expressed through soft beige and nude tones. Monogram Infrarouge is its counterpoint—a fearless heroine, defined by intensity, bold reds, and striking contrasts," Ghesquière describes in a news release.

As you can probably guess, these extravagant compacts come with the price tag to match: Each of the eye shadow palettes cost $340 (compared to $250 for the original LV case) with the lipsticks and balms tagged at $195 (compared to $160). They're Louis Vuitton's most expensive beauty offerings to date—certainly not an everyday purchase, but one that will surely last a lifetime. Monogram Dune is inspired by a desert landscape, featuring an eye shadow palette with warm neutrals—namely, a rose gold, bluish-gray, and pink-tinged anise, plus a pure white for ethereal inner corners. "Monogram Dune is luminous and warm," McGrath shares. "She moves through the world with a stealth assurance. Her beauty is timeless, effortless—and all the more powerful for it." The Satin Lipstick in a soft, rosewood brown reflects these warm, rich tones, while the Stellar Veil Topper Lip Balm has a transparent, holographic finish that adds radiant dimension to any lip color. "Infrarouge is the counterpart to Dune—fearless, high-contrast, unapologetic," says McGrath. "She does not ask for your attention. She commands it. There is depth, drama, and the kind of boldness that is completely mesmerizing." Housed in a jet-black case with a deep-red monogram, the eye shadow palette is richer and more cool-toned with taupe, rosy-beige, sparkling anthracite, and velvety burgundy shades. The Satin Lipstick is just as intense, featuring a vampy version of the brand's best-selling Monogram Rouge (a deep berry). A longtime fan of the aforementioned shade, I instantly fell in love with the moodier hue. I already know I'll be wearing it all autumn long, and it pairs perfectly with the LV Lip Crayon in Plum Comet (just saying).

Like Monogram Dune, the Infrarouge collection also features a Topper Lip Balm, but it lends a slightly more dramatic dose of glitter. Dubbed Galactic Veil, it deposits a vinyl-like shine that reminds me of McGrath's OG crystal lip runway creations—if you know, you know.

I can spot a fashion person a mile off, and right now, one of the clearest tells that someone knows their Prada from their Proenza is whether they’re already experimenting with the high-octane colour combination set to take off next. Naturally, Katie Holmes was one of the first to catch my eye, stepping out in New York in the exact pairing that the runways have already singled out as one of autumn 2026’s most exciting.

Attending an event in the city, Holmes swapped the tried-and-tested black-and-white combination for a royal purple dress, punctuating the look with a pair of ruby-red shoes.

The colour pairing has already made its mark on the runways, with Miu Miu, Prada and Celine all making a case for putting high-impact hues side by side. Rather than competing, royal purple and ruby red build on each other to create a dynamic combination that feels entirly fresh for autumn.

The invite was simple: an exclusive beauty preview with Jérôme Epinette. No further brand details, except that it would be an "exciting new beauty launch" and an opportunity to hear directly from the French master perfumer himself. Considering Epinette is responsible for viral hits like Byredo Bal D'Afrique, Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa '62, and Lore Disfruta, I certainly felt intrigued to RSVP. Upon arrival, the brand remained shrouded in mystery as my fellow editors and I streamed through a factory line of unlabeled fragrances, swapping blotters and comparing favorites.

My personal pick? A warm, slightly sweet composition positioned next to a bouquet of delicate white flowers—a hint that the blend would likely include jasmine. Sultry jasmine perfumes are what I reach for when I want to drive people wild, so I'm not surprised that I gravitated towards this particular blend. The elegant fragrance note is also known for making any perfume smell expensive, which got my wheels turning. Was this a luxury launch? It certainly smelled opulent, like it could easily cost upwards of $300.

As you can tell from this headline, I quickly learned that this lavish composition had quite the affordable price tag. Introducing Suede Embrace, my favorite $15 scent from Old Navy's new fragrance and body care collection.

Old Navy Beauty Co. (ONBC) is launching with seven scents: Gourmand Thrill, Fresh Splash, Vanilla Crush, Floral Sweet, Amber Vibe, Sorbet D’lish, and—my favorite—Suede Embrace. Each comes in a hair and body mist, body wash, and body lotion that leave skin feeling refreshed, hydrated, and, of course, smelling delectable. After all, you don't partner with Epinette unless you want a fragrance that gets people talking.

"My starting point is always the same: What is the emotion, and what is the story I want the fragrance to tell?" Epinotte tells me of his creative process. "I don't begin by thinking that an accessible fragrance should be less creative or less sophisticated… For me, the important thing is having a strong signature. You can achieve that through contrast, through texture, through the way you balance familiar notes with something unexpected." Hence why his $15 body mists for ONBC smell just as expensive as my go-to designer blends. Epinette just has the ability to create scent magic with virtually any raw materials. "It's not about one expensive ingredient. It's about creating dimension, texture and contrast," he adds. "When the opening, heart and base work beautifully together, a fragrance can feel polished and sophisticated at any price."

When it comes to Suede Embrace, Epinette combines lighter notes like aldehydes and honey with creamy florals (like jasmine) and a warm base of amber, patchouli, and white musks. "That contrast between airy and warm is what makes it so addictive," he shares. "I think Suede Embrace could really surprise people. I wanted it to feel like skin wrapped in suede." It certainly surprised me, especially when I found out that the complex, sophisticated blend was tagged at $15 (or $8 if you snag the 3-ounce bottle).

I highly suggest you try the musky, velvety fragrance for yourself (it really does smell like luxe suede!), but for those craving something a little more enveloping, Epinette recommends pairing it with Vanilla Crush—a textured take on vanilla with black pepper, orange blossom, bergamot, and pistachio. "As vanilla continues to resonate with consumers, I’m always interested in finding ways to make it feel less expected," he explains. "What I like about Vanilla Crush is the tension. It has the warmth and comfort you want from vanilla, but there’s also a freshness and spice that keeps it from feeling too sweet or familiar. It has a lot of personality and keeps evolving as you wear it."

His other go-to layering combinations include Suede Embrace and Fresh Splash for "something fresh and sensual" or Sorbet D'Lish and Floral Sweet, which has a juicy, playful vibe. The great thing about a body mist format is that you can't really overdo the application; because they contain a lower fragrance oil concentration than an eau de parfum, you can feel free to experiment with different duos without overwhelming your senses. That also means you might want to snag the smaller 3-ounce size for on-the-go touch-ups, as body mists do tend to evaporate quicker. And trust me, as someone who literally can't stop spraying Suede Embrace, you'll be glad you have one in your bag at all times.

Styled with a white cotton minidress, the look felt suited to these warm early-autumn days. And, as the temperature begins to drop in the coming weeks, I’d simply swap the white mini for a pair of straight-leg jeans and a simple grey knit for an equally effortless outfit that feels made for this tricky period.

As you know, we're entering that weird transitional time of year in which it's still warm outside, but school buses are on the streets and Labor Day is right around the corner. When you don't have time to even think about what shoes to throw on before you leave the house, sometimes the best option is the most unexpected one. As someone who prefers to plan my outfits around the shoes I'd like to wear that day, sometimes I simply can't think that far ahead, and I've found that reaching for the trend that Elsa Hosk just wore makes my outfit better every single time. The trend is colorful ballet flats. I have seen their popularity rise rapidly, and they can now be considered one of the biggest flat-shoe trends of 2026.

The wrong-shoe theory, statement shoes, clashing shoes—whatever you want to call it—wearing shoes that aren't a safe neutral with your outfits has become a common practice among the fashion crowd.
