The gift-giving stakes are high for everyone this time of year, but they’re even higher for those who work in the fashion industry. With insider knowledge of the coolest new brands and stores, they’ve got a whole arsenal to choose from when it comes to finding their loved ones the perfect present. Curious to know what exactly they’ve settled on this year—not to mention what they’re longing for themselves—we asked them directly, and have rounded up their answers just for you, below!
Scroll down to find out what they had to say…
Giving: Candy! Treats for all my sweets at Christmas.
Hoping to get: I know this sounds corny but this year I just want love and warmth.
Giving: I don’t want to give away the surprise, but I’m giving one of our Day of the Dead Skulls to my best friend who traveled with me to Mexico over Day of the Dead a couple years ago when I was just starting St. Frank.
Hoping to get: I have been eyeing those Lee Savage clutches all year and can never decide my favorite because they are all so sleek—I would love one! I also get a new Symthson notebook each year… I’m old school and still write down my to-do list each day. This “To Be Perfectly Frank” has St. Frank’s 2016 written all over it!
Giving: Been giving out my new book, The Little Book of Skin Care: Korean Beauty Secrets for Healthy, Glowing Skin to everyone that has helped me on my skin care and entrepreneurial journey.
Hoping to get: I don't need or want any gifts this year! Just reading positive reviews about the book has been the greatest gift of all.
Giving: This year I think I am going to give out framed photos. I recently discovered this website called Frame and Bridge that mounts and frames whatever you want, no matter the size! You just put in the dimensions, send away your photo and art and in about a week, it comes back to you looking gallery ready. I love taking photos, so I have many for all of my close friends and family that definitely deserve a home on a wall.
Hoping to get: Well, it would really make my Christmas to get the Kylie Jenner lip kit as it was sold out in 60 seconds and I was not one of the lucky ones to get it. If that is impossible, which it’s looking it might be for anyone but Santa, I would love a new diamond stud for my tragus. It’s a really specific piercing, so I can only get jewelry for it from a few places. The one I have my eye on is from Maria Tash.
Giving: I’m currently obsessed with our Clarity Long Sleeve Top! It’s the best gift because you can dress it up with black skinny jeans and heels for drinks or wear it to the gym with a pair of leggings. I’ll be gifting it to all my girlfriends so hopefully they aren’t reading this!
Hoping to get: I know it sounds funny, but I’m dying for an alkaline water filter for my house! On a totally different note, I’ve been dreaming about the classic black Chanel Boy Bag.
Hoping to get: A rose gold and diamond Audemars Piguet watch.
Giving: My favorite gift is giving to the annual fundraising drive of the New York Academy of Art. This will fund a scholarship at the school, which is the most amazing figurative art academy in New York.
Hoping to get: I wouldn't mind getting one of those scholarships myself.
Giving: I asked my mother and nephew to choose any place they wanted to go in the world. My mom chose New Orleans and my nephew chose California, so this year I’m going to give them plane tickets with a catch—they are forced to travel and spend time with me :)
Hoping to get: I’m hoping to receive the Cartier Panther ring, and since that’s never going to happen I’ll be fine with any home-related gifts, a Starbucks gift card, or the nude Gucci mules I just spied on Net-a-Porter!
Giving: Something from Miansai, of course.
Hoping to get: A pontoon boat with a slide!
Giving: Matching his and hers Sleepy Jones x John Derian Pajamas to my favorite newlyweds—they’re colorful and so comfortable.
Hoping to get: Membership to Avocado of the Month Club. A box of fresh avocados delivered to your door each month—what else does one need?
Giving: I made a piece of jewelry for my husband so I am most excited to see his reaction.
Hoping to get: I hope to receive a vintage deco tennis bracelet I found last week!
Giving: My favorite gift I'm giving is also the one I’m hoping to receive. Basically, I am OBSESSED with Lego sculptures, and last year bought a limited-edition replica imperial shuttle from Star Wars that is, no joke, three feet high and fully operable (you can move the wings, etc.)—but also impossible to put together. I promptly gave up on trying to build the damn thing within a few hours. So, my boyfriend basically spent three weeks watching YouTube videos learning how to put it all together, and now we have the coolest possible living room centerpiece. Anyway, this year I am "giving" him an even bigger challenge: the Super Star Destroyer. You can only get it on eBay, and if the reviews are anything to go by, it’s basically a feat of engineering to build, but arguably the coolest thing in the known universe to have in your home. So, I'm giving my boyfriend a limited-edition Lego set for a Star Wars ship and hoping he will give me back the completed replica of a star destroyer for our living room. If I give it to him and he doesn't build it, I will simply scatter the pieces all over the bedroom until he gives in!
Giving: A monthly subscription to our videos for friends and family who don't live near one of our studios or an athleisure-wear gift certificate to Carbon 38.
Hoping to get: An Apple watch in rose gold.
Giving: I'm sending my mother one gift a week until Christmas. She's never had a real Christmas tree so I'm sending one to her already fully decorated!
Hoping to get: I would love nothing more than to receive The Atelier Coat from AYR—made from the most incredible soft grey marbled wool.
Giving: Handmade pottery—lumpy cups without handles.
Hoping to get: More pottery lessons, so I can learn how to make handles.
Giving: Happiness. I haven't finished deciding what I’m giving to whom, but what every gift has in common is the look of joy it gives to someone who opens it.
Hoping to get: I hope to receive peace and stability. Constant travel is fun, but isn't the best thing for my body. This Christmas I want to relax and be in one place with the ones I love.
