If you are reading this right now, chances are that at some point in your life—maybe even right now—you have considered yourself a “fashion girl.” Whether it’s your obsession with street style trends, your relentless stalking of Paris runways, or simply a highly notable shopping addiction—you love fashion.
We do too! And as fellow fashion girls, we’re very sad to report that even we aren’t immune to style mistakes made by men and women everywhere, every day. There are five mistakes fashion girls are especially prone to making even more than the average person—and we’ve come up with clever ways to combat them.
Keep scrolling to find out the five big style mistakes even fashion girls make, and how to fix them!
If there’s one thing fashion girls are most guilty of, it’s wearing pieces that obviously display designer labels. From Chanel bags with the interlocking Cs to Kenzo sweatshirts to Louis Vuitton Damier prints galore, fashion girls love designer wares—which is fine, as long as you can afford it and wear it with some subtlety.

Another mistake fashion girls especially fall prey to: wearing too many trends at once. We’re all about keeping up with current trends and even trying out some ourselves, but there is absolutely too much of a good thing when it comes to trends. Think: a girl wearing a fringe skirt under a blanket coat with a big belt on top, a tiny box bag, and knee-high mod boots. It’s just too much.
The other mistake fashion girls sometimes make when it comes to trends: wearing ones that don’t suit them. This is the worst thing you can do with a trend because not only does it not do the trend justice, but you end up making yourself look less-than-stellar too.

In our hunt for the perfect outfit and our avid exploration of all things fashion, sometimes we fashion girls wear things just because we want to—not because we should. Whether it’s an oversized coat that is just this much too oversized, or a pair of on-trend culottes that are too long, wearing something that doesn’t fit you properly is never in style.

Rare is the occasion when we fashion girls meet a bag, shoe, hat, belt, or any accessory we don’t love. To us, accessories nearly make the entire outfit, and if we’re guilty of anything, it’s wearing too many of them. We think we look good with our thousands of bangles, Chanel bag, floppy hat, and oversized belt, but in fact, we probably look a tad ridiculous.
