This Must-Shop Sydney Fashion Haunt Just Moved Into a Church

Parlour X is an institution. Since the Sydney boutique swung its doors open in 2001, owner Eva Galambos has helped Sydney’s best-dressed ladies curate their perfect wardrobes—a mix of local and international luxury designers.

It won’t come as a shock that as a pit stop for international visitors and local regulars, the store’s home in Paddingon’s Five Ways was outgrown. When it was time to pack up and move on, Galambos waited to find the perfect address. “It was just a matter of finding a space I had chemistry with,’’ she says. And after searching for a year, the wait paid off. The new site is on another level.

Housed in the heritage listed St John’s Church on Oxford Street in Paddington, you can’t help but be drawn in by its grand presence. Drive past in the evening, and the mesmerising glow of lights around the store draw you in, and you can feel the magic inside those four walls.

The retail scene in Sydney’s Paddington has undergone a makeover in the last few years. The Intersection—a handpicked selection of some of Australia’s finest designers has brought the area back to life and with Parlour X now sitting in the middle of Oxford Street, we’re expecting another exciting wave of change.

When should you visit? As the sun is setting and light starts to trickle and bounce through the stained glass windows. Heaven? We think so.
