A Fashion Vlogger's Secret to Looking Polished at All Times

Some people seem to have the supernatural ability to look pulled-together at all times. It’s a sartorial ease that feels impossible to pin down. This is certainly the case for Canada-born, London-based vlogger Estée Lalonde, who has recently collaborated with Daisy London to create a gorgeous collection of vintage-inspired jewellery.

Unsurprisingly, they’re the sort of pieces that will add polish to any outfit: Think chunky gold hoops, T-bar necklaces and chain bracelets. Featuring plenty of classic motifs, they’ll remind you of jewellery you might’ve inherited from your grandma; however, they can also be layered to create a contemporary finish.

To mark the launch of the collection, we asked Lalonde about her top tips for looking pulled-together and how to dress for winter. Scroll down to see what she said; then shop our favourite pieces from the collection.

What are your wardrobe must-haves for creating a pulled-together outfit?

I need a great pair of boots, tight jeans and a nice coat. I love a cashmere or wool coat.

What are your favourite UK brands at the moment?

I love Rixo London. Iden Denim is also definitely up there.

Where do you go for style inspiration?

I obviously love Instagram! But honestly, I love seeing what people on the street—regular people who aren’t vloggers—are wearing. I also love meeting up with my friends and asking them where they got their pieces from.

What’s your go-to date night outfit formula?

I usually wear jeans (tight ones too—the tighter the better!), black heeled ankle boots and something lacy (like a blouse or a tank top that looks like lingerie). I love to mix silks and lace with something a little more casual like denim.

As someone who was born in Canada, what are your top tips for staying warm in the winter while still looking stylish?

It’s all about the layers. If I have a big sweater I want to wear, I’ll layer a silk tank top underneath, then a T-shirt, followed by another long-sleeved shirt if it’s really cold. Then I’ll put a coat and scarf.

What role does jewellery play in your personal style?

I typically dress casually (I’m always in jeans, a T-shirt and trainers), so if I don’t put my jewellery on, I don’t feel put-together at all. I’m really into mixing metals at the moment, and I tried to incorporate that into my collection with Daisy London. Each design comes in different metals so you can mix and match.

If you could pass one piece of jewellery down to the next generation, what would it be?

My mum actually gave me a necklace around eight years ago when I first moved to England that says “Follow your heart,” so I’d probably pass that on.

The Estée Lalonde for Daisy London jewellery collection is available from 19 October. On the Line With Estée Lalonde is available on all major podcasting platforms now.
