If you're looking for the dress that will take you from a summer wedding to brunch and beyond, there's no one better to look to than Emilia Wickstead. The London-based designer has teamed up with MatchesFashion.com on a capsule collection of six pretty frocks and two gorgeous skirts, all complete with statement-making, oversize floral patterns.
To get the scoop on the collection, we chatted with Wickstead herself, who told us that she had a certain type of customer in mind when designing the capsule. "I picture her as a woman who can't be bothered to think too hard about what she's going to wear, but she still wants to look pulled-together and chic," Wickstead told Who What Wear. "The collection is meant to be effortless—easy summer pieces that can be worn to a cocktail party but can just as easily be styled with some flats and a bikini top for the beach."
We also tapped Ruth Chapman, co-founder and chairwoman of MatchesFashion.com, to offer more insight on the creation of the collection. "Emilia hadn’t worked in cotton before, as her aesthetic is normally more tailored uptown pieces," Chapman told Who What Wear. "We wanted to develop something less precious, but still with her DNA, that spoke of summer and femininity."
