Eleanor Pendleton on How to Find the Perfect Jumpsuit

In her first column as a fashion contributor for Who What Wear Australia, Eleanor Pendleton, the founder and editor of beauty website and quarterly interactive digital magazine Gritty Pretty, takes us through the steps on how to find the perfect weekend jumpsuit...

When it comes to beauty, I’m a pro. As a beauty editor, I spend my days surrounded by beauty experts and products.

However, switch to fashion and there are two things that I always thought I could never get right: jumpsuits and flare jeans. When it comes to the latter, my fashionable friend Sara Donaldson from Harper & Harley taught me otherwise and thanks to her, flares are now one of my wardrobe staples.

I never thought jumpsuits would suit me (read: NEVER). Why? Well, let’s just say I’m on a first name basis with my tailor because getting pants taken up is a more than regular occurrence for me.

Keep reading for my tips on how to style the sometimes tricky jumpsuit trend.

Try a few on

In a bid to find the perfect pair, I tried a few before settling on this ASOS blue denim cut out version (gracias, ASOS!). For those who prefer the dark side, it also comes in dark blue and black.

Accentuate parts of your body you love

But the real winning factor of this denim jumpsuit is the high-waist, backless design. It accentuates my waist being the smallest part of my body and makes my legs appear much longer than they are.

Use simple accessories to dress it up

On weekends, paired with sandals, this look is easier to wear than it is to physically put on. But, in times when heels are needed (like when a weekend BBQ ends up relocating to a cool nearby bar and you don’t have a change of clothes in your car), a refreshing spritz of face mist (I like SK-II Mid Day Miracle Essence) and a simple pair of black strappy heels is all that’s required.

Try different styles

But, as all body shapes are beautifully different, you need to know what is flattering on your body and the only way to find The Perfect Jumpsuit of All Time is to do what I did and try on a lot of styles until you find one you truly feel comfortable in.
