Ever since it was announced earlier this year that Jonathan Saunders had been appointed as Diane von Furstenberg's first-ever chief creative officer after shuttering his namesake line in late 2015, the fashion world has been anxiously awaiting his first collection with the brand.
The brand's S/S 17 collection, the first collection not designed by Diane von Furstenberg herself, was previewed yesterday, and it's easy to see that Saunders has given the brand a bold, fresh new makeover. While in keeping with DVF's signature feminine, printed, colorful aesthetic, the new collection has a decidedly modern touch, with clashing prints, unexpected sleeve details, and asymmetrical hems.
The brand's signature wrap dress is, of course, present, but it's reworked in decidedly contemporary, interesting new ways. Add to that a new focus on accessories and knitwear, and you have the makings of a very exciting future in store for a veteran brand.
