Looking back at the past few Diesel Black Gold runway shows, you’ll see a slew of serious, often morose all-black-clad models strutting the runway with the occasional hint of white or maybe navy in their looks. This is what has led us to paint a mental picture of the Diesel girl as edgy, tough, and far from even the slightest hints of femininity, but that’s all about to change. Today’s S/S 17 show in Milan was a complete 360 for the brand (and we’re not mad about it). While it was a surprise to see so many ruffles, ballet motifs, and a lot of pink, it was a refreshing change for the brand we thought we knew so well. And for those more change-averse fans, there were still comforting hints of badass-ness in some of the silhouettes, via lace-up and utilitarian details.
