The Kate Middleton effect is still in full swing. But it seems there's a new, much younger royal who has taken over as the most influential fashion star, and there's data to prove it.
As it turns out, per a newly released eBay report, two-year-old Princess Charlotte has some serious "spend power." After photos of her on her second birthday were released, in which the young princess wore a yellow cardigan with blue detailing, searches for the item "increased tenfold" and "sparked the biggest percentage increase in searches for an item of clothing worn by any royal," according to an eBay spokesperson.
But while Princess Charlotte ranks in at the top in terms of spending power, it seems her older brother, Prince George, actually has the greatest style influence, especially when it comes to the consistency of sales. After he was photographed wearing a blue jumper during the Canada tour in 2016, eBay experienced a 200% increase in searches for the clothing piece. And according to the report, there have been nearly 1500 "Prince George" related pieces sold on eBay in the last three months, compared to 500 for "Princess Charlotte."
It's undeniable that the youngest royals are having the same effect (if not more) on people's fashion choices as their mother. As Murray Lambell, vice president of trading at eBay explains, "It's the youngest generation of royals who really generate the must-have fashion items – and are driving a new generation of shopping behavior on eBay."
