Walt Disney

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, a group of designers took inspiration from classic Disney films. We spotted several looks that seemed to be channeling cartoon muses and famous fairy tales on the fall runways. The Wicked Queen from Snow White walked at Giambattista Valli, the Mad Hatter's impressive chapeau showed up at Vivienne Westwood, and Minnie Mouse made the rounds at Comme des Garcons.

With the spirit of these illustrated icons in mind, we pulled together a modern-day Alice in Wonderland ensemble that would be perfect for a very important date-tea at the Chateau, naturally! Instead of the girly black bow Alice wears in the 1951 animated film, we like this black silk, pleated headband from 3.1 Phillip Lim with Swarovski crystal embellishment ($275, shopjake.com). The keyhole on the bridge of these Moschino sunglasses is a nod to the Queen of Hearts and her card army ($220, moschino.com). Also from Lim is this beautiful blue, hand smocked, bib front dress. The dress has a row of little buttons in the back and pockets too ($780, brownsfashion.com). Pull everything together with black patent leather, Mary Janes-Miu Miu, Christian Louboutin, or Manolo-and you've got a look that will cause Cheshire Cat smiles.
