From pool slides to Birkenstocks, it seems that every season there is a new "ugly" shoe to be coveted. But for 2017, Vogue is predicting the rise of a new controversial shoe: Crocs. The comfy rubber clogs were spotted on the feet of trendsetter Rihanna way back in 2009, but are better known today as a favorite of celebrity chef Mario Batali.
But after embellished styles appeared on the runway at Christopher Kane last season, Vogue included the shoes in their list of trends that will rule the New Year. While it may be a while before we know if these shoes will be the next big thing, you may want to dig through the back of your closet and dust off your old pair just in case. But don’t put your Birkenstocks away just yet.
