Céline’s S/S 18 collection consists of pieces that embrace the ongoing androgynous trend. Phoebe Philo designed minimalistic yet standout pieces which reveal her love for tonal dressing and subtle details. The new collection showcases oversize blazers tucked into asymmetrical skirts, tailored suits, trousers, and capes. The collection contains a number of different trench coats, where Philo reveals her personal take on the coat, which, in an interview with Vogue, she referred to as the “double trench.” Her modern twist on the trench coat makes the piece appear as if there are two coats in one. The outer layer, which resembles a cape, lies on top of a fitted coat. On the runway, trench coats are styled over the model’s shoulders with a purse in hand. All in all, Philo brought the “1970s Céline woman” back.
