We're Sorry, But Bike Shorts Are Now a Thing

Today in controversial celebrity trends, you'll probably have some feelings about the one piece that everyone from Bella to Kendall is wearing. Is it another "ugly-pretty" dichotomy or athleisure gone wrong? We're not quite sure yet where the spandex bike shorts fall along the trend spectrum, but one thing's for sure: Celebs can't get enough of them. While Kim Kardashian West has been a longtime wearer of the sporty shorts, it was younger models Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner whose attempts to dress up the stretchy shorts that had us questioning everything we ever knew.

This week, Bella stepped out in Paris in a look that's seasonally so on point from the waist up. A checked blazer, fanny pack, and leather beret look ultra cool and, when paired with black cycling shorts, have an interesting high-low balance. While we can't say we'll be testing out the shorts-and-pumps combo for ourselves anytime soon, we give Bella and company major points for pushing conventional style boundaries. We honestly have to wonder if these celebs are just testing out which "ugly" trends they can make look cool or if they're really trying to make spandex shorts a thing. Either way, it's a growing phenomenon we can't ignore.
