This Fashion Blogger Reveals Her Engagement Story

It’s the season for engagement rings, and we love nothing more than a beautiful story behind a beautiful ring. Brooke Testoni married husband Leith Testoni in 2014 in a picture-perfect wedding—in a dream location (Hunter Valley) and flawless a Inbal Dror Couture dress, so it’s no surprise the ring is just as immaculate. In the spirit of engagement season, we asked Brooke to open up about the story of the ring and proposal.

On the proposal…

My husband proposed to me at our home in Mosman. He didn’t want me to suspect anything out of the ordinary. He was leaving for a work trip to America the next day, so he cooked me a three-course dinner and set the table with beautiful linen, flowers and candles (just how I like it!) before he left. He popped the question for the ‘4th’ course. It was very unexpected and so romantic.

On if it all went to plan…

No. He was thinking of doing it on a boat in Italy (where he is from) but unbeknown to me that didn’t go as planned. He'd taken me for a picnic on a Riviera boat off the coast of Amalfi a few weeks before he actually proposed, but the sea was quite choppy and unfortunately I wasn’t feeling that well, so he aborted the proposal. I, of course, didn’t know this until after we did get engaged.

On the feeling straight after…

So happy! Well happy is an understatement. I called my family and friends straight away. It is such an exciting time in your life. I told my mum first, then my sister. I think the girls in your life are always the most excited!

On the announcement…

I didn’t post about it for a few days, and then I just put up an image of us and said we are getting married.

On the ring…

I cannot tell you how lucky I am. I am still shocked to this day when I look at it. He just got it so right. He is Italian, so he got my ring made by Cerrone Diamonds. The owners are such beautiful people; they are like family to him. Leith knows that I am a lover of a little old and new, my house will tell you that story, so he wanted to implement that into my ring. It is a new ring with new diamonds, however has a high setting much like vintage rings (my grandmas). I am truly so grateful. It is never coming off my finger!
