>Update: Do we finally know the names of the twins? Although it has not been officially confirmed, People reports that Beyoncé and Jay-Z's company has filed trademark applications for two names: Rumi and Sir. The twins are reportedly a boy and a girl. Stay tuned as we await the official news.
>Originally posted on June 28: When Beyoncé shares the details about her personal life, she does it in a big way. Cue the full visual photo albums to announce her pregnancy and Gucci-filled blog posts to take a peek at her family’s evening out at the movies. But when the star is quiet, the lid is sealed—tight. Bey shares what she chooses, and then the rest is hearsay. Which is exactly the predicament we find ourselves in this week as we’re still hoping to hear what she and Jay-Z have decided to name their newborn twins. So naturally, we called in an expert.
>In this case, we went to a baby name expert, specifically Laura Wattenberg, who’s the author of The Baby Name Wizard and has been a go-to source for outlets like The New York Times, NPR, and Huffington Post. When asked about the family, she had this to say:
“These are two parents who clearly value the way a unique name shapes an image. With their first child’s name, they showed that they’re drawn to contemporary names with subtle, multifaceted meanings. They seem to aim more for poetry than for exalting the child (like the recent trend of famous babies with names like Royalty and Saint). Some uncommon choices that fit the bill include Dove, Story, Lux, Roam, and, for a very Beyoncé-focused choice, Halo.”
Let that sink in: A baby name expert believes one of Beyonce’s twins is named Halo. Has anything ever been more perfectly fitting?
While no, we can’t guarantee that her predictions will turn out to be true (for the record, we did seek out the advice of a few psychics, as well, who claimed they knew the twins’ names but declined to comment out of respect for the Carters’ privacy) we don’t mind putting a bit of faith into an expert source rather than just a whirlwind of gossip. After all, until Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and big sister Blue Ivy decide to introduce the youngest members of their family, your guess is as good as ours.
>Take your time, Carter family. Everyone else, go ahead and celebrate another celebrity baby birth (congrats, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley!) while you wait for more updates.
