What: Hermes Silk Knot
Why: This playful app provides users with inspirational ideas for styling Hermes’ iconic scarves. A combination of videos and images serve to teach six different knot techniques, which rotate each season. The app is free. The scarf, not so much.
WHAT: House Account
WHY: This new app connects you with sales associates at over 300 boutiques across the country including FortyFiveTen in Dallas, A’maree’s in Newport Beach, and By George in Austin (you can curate a list of the ones you want to follow). Users browse uploaded images of new inventory, chat directly with associates, and, if they like what they see, make purchases.
What: PS Dept
Why: Co-founded by a former Barneys buyer, PS Dept partnered with over 35 labels including Stella McCartney, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Diane Von Furstenberg to connect users one-on-one with store associates. The aim is to enable shoppers to find exactly what they’re looking for – whether it’s a cocktail dress or a specific item in a certain size. Users can purchase directly from the app, and shipping and returns are free.
Why: For beauty junkies on the go, this ingenious app (co-founded by Who What Wear/Byrdie favorite Hannah Bronfman) enables users to book last-minute services like massages, haircuts, and mani/pedis. Users log in to find a upscale and properly vetted spa/salon near them and book the appointment through the app. Beautified is currently available in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, and is coming soon to Miami and Washington D.C.
Why: The online retail giant has launched its first iPhone app, thus making it possible to shop Alexander Wang at a traffic light or scope out the latest Rag & Bone while waiting to pick up your dry cleaning. In addition to carrying over website functions like wish lists and favorite designers, the app features a 1.5x product zoom (as opposed to the site’s 1x zoom) so you can get up close and personal with your potential purchase.
Why: Similar to Beautified but focused exclusively on blowouts, updos, and makeup applications. Another key difference? StyleBee’s aestheticians come to you – whether it’s your home, office, or hotel. Talk about convenient.
What: Moda Operandi
Why: Everyone’s favorite trunkshow website just launched an app, giving you the ability to pre-order runway looks straight from your smartphone. Other highlights include real-time fashion show notifications and a watchlist function, which enables you to bookmark your favorite looks and receive alerts when they become available for purchase.
Why: Ever wish you could see all your favorite fashion blogs in one place? With Flink, you can. The brand new app gathers conent from over 700 top bloggers including Garance Dore, Modasic, Absolutely Glamourous, and more. There's also a Fliboard where you can pin your favorite looks and share them with other users.
