Fashion month is finally here! Last week, influencers, celebrities, and fashion’s biggest brands converged for New York Fashion Week, and we’re still swooning over all of the romantic ready-to-wear S/S 19 collections that came down the runways. (Also, we can’t get enough of the street style–watching opportunities.)
Couldn’t make it to the front row? Not a problem: We were lucky enough to follow along as Canadian fashion and lifestyle blogger Kayla Seah took in the shows and navigated NYC, clad in gorgeous bohemian-inspired looks from MICHAEL Michael Kors Fall 2018. Keep reading for your behind-the-scenes look into what it’s really like to attend NYFW.
Seah, of course, is the woman behind Not Your Standard, a digital destination launched in 2012 that curates fashion, music, beauty, and lifestyle content we can’t get enough of. “The inspiration behind my blog is mirrored from my day-to-day experiences and love for detail and design,” Seah told Who What Wear when we caught up with her at the luxurious Beekman Hotel in Lower Manhattan before she sat front row at the Michael Kors Collection Spring 2019 fashion show.
Seah currently lives in Toronto (her hometown), but her work has taken her all over the globe, and she loves taking her followers along on her fashionable journey via her Instagram account. “I’ve lived in New York, Berlin, and Toronto; I love living in a busy city, as I find it to be the most inspirational for fashion!” she tells us.
“Everyone should own chunky knits, bohemian-inspired dresses, a good leather jacket, and a pair of knee-high boots,” Seah tells us. “In terms of colours, gold, mustard tones, and rich reds are always great for fall.”
As for the particulars, she tells us there are three Michael Kors pieces currently topping her fall wish list: “My favourites are the tan oversize knit cardigan and the paisley print dresses,” Seah says. “I also love the Whitney bag in brown leather. It’s the perfect colour for fall!”
