Get the Look/Rihanna

Rihanna seems like a very sharp girl. She's clearly driven (three hot albums in three years), has a dream reputation (no known major snits or fits), and possesses the key component necessary for a long career (transmutability). Lately we've been digging the evolution of her style. She's making thoughtful and bold clothing choices for press events, while also having some of the most fashion-forward, yet pretty, makeup around. In particular, she always has really cool eyeliner going on, like above. Speaking of which, this beauty look was for a celebratory dinner thrown by Paper Magazine-she's their August cover-in New York on Monday. Rihanna looked fresh and sultry, so we were impressed. Naturally we got the behind-the-scenes scoop from her makeup artist, Mylah Morales, read on for details.
"With a schedule like Rihanna's, amazing skin care is key." Mylah told us. "Her makeup has to last all day, from under the hot lights at a photo shoot to a party that night, with only a brief touch up possible." When you need your beauty look to really last, happy and healthy skin is of the utmost importance. Mylah uses ReVive Skincare's Tonique Preparitif and Revive Skincare's Sensitif Oil Free Lotion on Rihanna to prep her face for makeup. She also spritzes Rihanna's face with Jane Iredale's Balance Antioxidant Hydration Spray prior to applying any skin makeup.

Using a brush, Mylah first applies Giorgio Armani's Skin Retouch concealer in 5.5 underneath Rihanna's eyes. She then applies Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation in 8 using the same brush. To give the skin an even more natural look, Mylah lightly pats a damp sponge all over the skin. She then lightly dusts Laura Mericer Secret Brightening Powder in # 2 under the eyes (to set the concealer) and on the whole face (to set the foundation).

Rihanna's cheeks are lightly contoured with GlowFusion Micro-Tech Intuitive Active Bronzer in Golden and then given a peachy-pink hint of color with Cover Girl Cheekers Blush in Rose Silk. The blush is applied with a large brush to keep it ultra-natural. To get a smoky eye, Mylah used the dove, pewter, and smoke eye shadows of Cover Girl Eye Enhancers in Shades of Gray. She then lined Rihanna's eyes with MAC Pigment in the deep maroon shade of Smoke Signal. Sadly for us civilians, this color is part of MAC's upcoming fall collection and isn't available for purchase for another couple of weeks. If you simply can't wait, MAC Eye Shadow in Sketch is a fine substitute. Lashes got a few coats of Cover Girl Volume Exact Waterproof Mascara in Black. Finally, Mylah applied Cover Girl Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers in Guava Splash to give a pinky-gold glossing on Rihanna's lips.
