It's a sad day for mall lovers everywhere: Racked reports that BCBG is closing most of its brick-and-mortar stores across the country. The news follows in the footsteps of other major mall brands shuttering or scaling back: The Limited has closed all its stores, J.Crew has nixed its bridal line, and Victoria's Secret has axed its swimwear.
BCBG confirmed the news to Racked and explained the decision: “In order to remain viable, the company—like so many others in its industry—must re-align its business to effectively compete in today’s shopping environment," spokesperson Seth Lubove told Racked. "This realignment will include a reduced focus on free-standing brick-and-mortar stores, concentrating more on in-store boutiques and, increasing our online presence as well as licensing.” Head over to Racked to find out more about what BCBG had to say about the news.
