New Year's Eve is upon us, and the night demands an outfit to remember—and be remembered in. If you haven't already decided exactly what you're donning for the occasion, there's plenty of outfit inspiration to be found on our favorite fashion girls and some advice for what silhouettes to avoid if you want to look current and stylish. Better yet, fashion designers John Targon and Scott Studenberg of Baja East have dished to Vogue.com their styling tips for the perfect NYE ensemble.
First and foremost, Targon says to remember to smile when suiting up for the big night and to not get too caught up in expectations. As for the clothes, he suggests "a twist on classic suiting, like a velvet blazer and harem pants." For him, jewelry is also key; however, you decide to do it. "How you accessorize sets the tone for the New Year," he says, "and you want to have fun and go all out for sure."
Studenberg is all about materials for setting the tone for the evening. With "loose luxe" as his favorite styling, he suggests going for something sparkly and plush with movement, noting velvet and Lurex are great for this look. If the clothing's neutral, he advises going with a pop of color or a contrasting texture with your shoes or accessories.
