We completely agree that referring to a fashion item as "life-changing" can be a bit of an overstatement. But we also acknowledge that sometimes a purchase can become something that you wear (or use) on a weekly basis, take on every trip, and reach for every time you need to look (and feel) your best.
As Who What Wear editors, we're quite particular about what we buy, as you can imagine. Finding the best there is of every type of fashion item under the sun is our MO. That said, we unfortunately can't buy all of what we recommend, but between us fashion fans, we undoubtedly added quite a few items to our wardrobes this year, some of which stood out from the pack. Of those, there were some that we'd even call
life-changing, as in we're not sure what we did or wore before we owned them. So without further ado…

"Best thing I bought all year was without a doubt these Attico jeans. From work every day to parties and even my own rehearsal dinner, I got more use out of them than I ever could have imagined."
Rosa Straight Jeans ( $594 ) ($333)
Available in sizes 0 to 4.
"Admittedly, I never owned a leather jacket until this year. I was always on the hunt for the perfect cut and didn't want to settle. When I found this one from Reformation x Veda, I bought it on the spot and have been wearing it on repeat ever since. Now I'm wondering how I survived so long without one."
Reformation x Veda
($498) Bad Leather Jacket
Available in sizes XS to XL.
"Before 2017, I was not the kind of girl who could pack for more than four days without checking a bag. That changed when I finally got an Away suitcase (the Bigger Carry-On specifically). I've never felt quite so organized and edited while traveling because the bag holds so much and allows me to compartmentalize everything I could possibly need (which is usually more than I actually need). I also feel pretty great gliding through an airport with a sleek carry-on that's secretly charging my phone at the same time. This year alone, my carry-on's been around the world from Copenhagen to Hong Kong—I'm excited about where I'll take it next."
($245) The Bigger Carry-On in Frost
"The rumors about these Gucci loafers are true—they really are the most comfortable flats I've ever owned. The hard part is convincing myself to give them a break more often so that they don't wear out too quickly. Also, I'm pretty sure I've brought them on every single trip I've taken since purchasing them early this year. No regrets."
($730) Jordaan Leather Loafer
Available in sizes 34 to 42.
"I'd have to say the below pink suede pants were an impressive addition to my wardrobe this year. I've surprisingly found several ways to wear the statement pants, and they've become a staple in my outfit rotation as of recently. Not to mention the loads of compliments I receive every time I wear them."
($323) Pink Lexi Trousers
Available in sizes 4 to 12.
"I finally graduated from wearing sweatpants and a college T-shirt to sleep and splurged on some 100% silk pajamas. It's definitely been worth it, and the cost-per-wear makes sense if you wear them every night!"
($278) Staci Top
Be sure to shop the
Available in sizes S to L.
"As someone who recently transitioned from college student to full-time worker, my collection of office-appropriate items was limited. A solid white shirt with an eclectic twist was just what my work wardrobe needed, and although more than I'd usually spend on a top, it was well worth the investment."
($325) Satin Poplin Sculpted Sleeve Top
Available in sizes 00 to 12.
"This year, I splurged on a pair of Balenciaga black ankle boots, and I wear them every other day. They are simple enough to be worn with basically anything but also have enough forward detailing to make them stand out. I always feel like a million bucks when I walk out of the house in them."
Slash Heel Booties ( $825 ) ($409)
Available in sizes 35 to 41.
"This year, I've spent more time schlepping to the airport than I would like. But buying Away's bigger carry-on suitcase was a definite game changer. Instead of lugging around a duffle bag, I can stroll my way to the gate comfortably. There's just something about its simplicity that makes it ideal."
($245) The Bigger Carry-On in Blue
