Every year, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund committee (which includes the likes of Anna Wintour, Diane von Furstenberg, and Jenna Lyons) nominates 10 up-and-coming designers to participate in a four-month competition to prove they will have a strong place in America's fashion future.
The competition has launched some of the most amazing designers of our time, including Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Public School, and many more. Now, though, you'll get to see the competition happening before your eyes with Amazon's new Condé Nast-produced reality series, The Fashion Fund.
The show, airing in 2016, will follow the 2015 program of emerging designers as they go through several phases of the competition—like a runway show at Los Angeles's Chateau Marmont, along with other advertising and design challenges—and you'll even be able to shop the finalists' spring collections as you watch.
The 2015 winner, to be announced November 2 of this year, will receive $400,000, and the two runners-up will receive $150,000 each to further their brands. The 2015 nominees are Scott Studenberg and John Targon of Baja East; Matt Baldwin of Baldwin; Aurora James of Brother Vellies; Brad Schmidt and Raul Arevalo of Cadet; Chris Gelinas of CG; Becca McCharen of Chromat; David Hart of David Hart & Co.; Rio Uribe of Gypsy Sport; Jonathan Simkhai; and Thaddeus O'Neil. We're excited to see them all in action!
