Long before she was fashion's favorite It girl, Alexa Chung was a young Annie Hall fan who compared discovering the Diane Keaton movie to "being introduced to the Smith or The Cure," as she tells InStyle. In honor of the film's 40th anniversary, Chung shot a feature for the magazine dressed like she could be Hall herself.
Of seeing Keaton embrace such bold fashion at the time, Chung tells the magazine, “It was also the first time I’d seen someone really owning a tomboy aesthetic that didn’t take away from her femininity at all. I thought, ‘Oh, I feel like that.’ It quickly became the basis of any ounce of taste I had.” Fast-forward to about a year ago when the trendsetter inadvertently picked up a tie from Ralph Lauren, the same designer who made the one worn by Keaton. “When I found it, I thought, ‘Maybe it’s time for me to do the Annie Hall look,’” she says. As if Chung’s fashion inspiration wasn’t charming enough, the 33-year-old’s photos are just as captivating, filled with pieces styled to perfection and inspired by her early muse.
