The Dos and Don'ts of Office Dressing, According to Hillary Kerr

Crafting the perfect office wardrobe is a tricky task. How can you convey your personal style, try out new trends, and impress your co-workers all at the same time? Well, our very own Who What Wear co-founder, Hillary Kerr, is here to help.

Appearing on Access Hollywood, Kerr broke down the dos and don'ts of dressing for the office. Inspired by a chapter in her latest book, The Career Code: Must-Know Rules for a Strategic, Stylish, and Self-Made Career, the segment explained how to make five specific pieces work for your 9-to-5: over-the-knee boots, a sweatshirt, a slip dress, track pants, and a crop top. For example, you might think that a sweatshirt would be too casual for the office, but it just takes a few key additions to make it more sophisticated, including a pleated midi skirt and high-heeled sandals. Watch the clip below to see all of Kerr's tips.

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
