10 Questions with Anna Kendrick—And Her Surprising Answers!

Anna Kendrick doesn’t stop. Just take a peek at her IMDB page, which features a long list of films due to hit theatres through 2016. The actress’ major year kicks off with this month’s Into the Woods, a movie musical with an all-star cast that includes Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, and Emily Blunt. Kendrick’s portrayal of Cinderella has fans buzzing, much like her reprisal of a cappella singer Beca in Pitch Perfect 2, out May. And did we mention she’s the current face of Kate Spade New York, too? We’re tired just thinking of Kendrick’s schedule, but luckily the witty star was able to take a break and play our favourite game: 10 Questions.

What did you love most about working on Into The Woods?
Working on the music with the man himself, Stephen Sondheim, was surreal and exhilarating. He was especially involved with writing some updated lyrics for "On the Steps of the Palace," so I got spoiled with face time.

What’s your most memorable red carpet moment—good or bad?
My J. Mendel dress at the Met Gala was so timeless. It had cutouts, but it was still timeless! The man is a genius.

If we could peek inside your makeup bag, what would we find?
1. Essie's Nail Polish ($9) in Jiggle Hi Jiggle Lo
It’s a neutral metallic, so it's chic but still goes with everything.

2. Hourglass Makeup Brushes
These are the absolute best. I keep adding to my collection.

3. Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water Cloths ($13)
Better than any makeup wipe I've tried.

What’s the one beauty product you can’t live without and why?
I'm still a blowout novice, and John Frieda’s Luxurious Volume Root Booster Blow Dry Lotion ($5) makes it look like I've had a professional blowout.

Do you have any selfie tips?
Smile. Or do a funny face. Serious almost never works for me.

What are your five fall fashion essentials?
1. My Eugenia Kim men's hat.
It's big enough that it actually covers my hair when I'm too lazy to do it.

2. A loose, heather grey sweater.
Aritzia has great ones that are super soft.

3. Rag & Bone jeans in a nice medium blue wash.
The fit is impeccable.

4. A good fit-and-flare dress for parties.
It’s my favourite silhouette, and no one does it better than
Kate Spade.

5. Kate Somerville Nourish Daily Moisturizer ($65)
Not fashion per se, but cold weather is no joke on skin, and this is my saving grace. For real, it's amazing.

Who should everyone be following on Twitter?
Jim Gaffigan. His Twitter is as hilarious as his books.

What’s the last thing you Googled?
Dragon fruit. Everyone says it's delicious, but it looks like an alien. I am still on the fence.

If you had to spend a month on a deserted island with one of your co-stars (past or present), who would you pick?
Emily Blunt. She cracks me up and she's great eye candy.

What’s the craziest rumour you’ve heard about yourself?
Nothing too crazy, but people on Twitter are always saying they just ran into me at different places across the country. I guess I look like a lot of people out there.
