Even if you’re a major fan of fashion brands like Gucci, Levi’s, or Adidas, the majority of us are not always privy to the inner workings of the company itself. Which is why the Business of Fashion’s just-released report on the best companies to work for in fashion is so fascinating. And while the UK-based publication has outlined 16 brands that score exceptionally well when it comes to factors like employee benefits, leadership development, and culture, only two fast-fashion brands have made the list: Zara and H&M.
Both of these massive entities are arguably the biggest and most innovative leaders in retail when it comes to super-short lead times, but the stores find themselves on the list for different reasons. Namely, as BoF found out, Zara and its parent company, Inditex, provides generous salaries and benefits for employees who keep up with the exceptionally fast environment. Meanwhile, H&M stands out for stressing teamwork among its employees and fostering talent from within. According to BoF, almost 700 of the Swedish brand’s U.S. employees received a promotion last year.
Though the results are gleaned from over 2600 employees within the industry, and Zara and H&M are the only fast-fashion retailers to be included, you’ll definitely recognize several more that made the cut. Check out the complete list on BoF.
