Norma Kamali Round ZYL Frame Sunglasses ($250)
As regular readers know, cat-eye frames definitely are captivating us this season, but that doesn't mean all other shades should be forsaken! Circular sunglasses still look fresh, especially this pair from Norma Kamali. Available in either black or tortoise, these sunnies are sure to be a hit with the festival crowd. For similar styles, also check out Betsey Johnson's Round Sunglasses ($55), Spitfire's Fassbinder Shades ($44) in Amber and Urban Outfitters' Crystal Circle Sunglasses ($10).
Deborah Lippmann Nail Color ($16) in Supermodel
Just in time for sandal season, manicurist to the fashion glitterati Deborah Lippmann has created another killer color. She collaborated with the stunning model/former GOTM Dree Hemingway on her newest shade-a sheer red-orange that would look amazing on anyone's mani/pedi!
Helmut Lang Linen Crop Sweater ($360)
Even though long days full of scorching sun are de rigueur at a festival (save for Glastonbury, which is all about the mud and rain), it's important to take some lightweight layers for the post-sunset sets. Helmut Lang's oversized, cropped sweater is an ideal cover-up to bring along: the slouchy silhouette is ultra-comfy and the distressed holes are simply too cool for school.
J. Crew Broken-In Boyfriend Chino Shorts ($50) in Utility Green
As you no doubt know, we're crazy for field jackets, but that's not the only way to wear the season's utilitarian trend. J. Crew's wonderfully worn-in chino shorts are another excellent option to give your outfit some understated cool! We'd pair them with a barely-there tank for a flirty tomboy look, but feel free to style these shorts any way you want.
Acne Maya Sandals ($529)
We know that many of you will squawk at the thought of wearing heels to an all-day event, but let's be honest: Coachella is a style scene. These sweet sandals from Acne are an excellent buy for a number of reasons: they subtly hint at the clog trend without actually going there, the platform wedge is a comfortable and practical way to wear heels on the grass, and they're just oh-so chic. Additionally, you might like Pour La Victoire's Pierce Wedge Sandals ($298), which are also available in a nude mushroom color.
7 For All Mankind Highwaist Ruffle Dress ($189, 310.385.9540) in Medium Tint Chambray
Denim is always a go-to option for any sort of music event, but we wanted to find something a little less expected than a pair of jeans. This spaghetti strap dress from 7 For All Mankind is just what we were looking for: the figure-friendly cut makes dancing easy and its simple silhouette will let you soak up some rays.
Lanvin Ribbon-Tie Leather Sandals ($425)
We live in our summer sandals, so finding the perfect pair is always of paramount importance. Lanvin is currently making an investment-worthy style that is really worth saving up for: the ribbon-tie sandal. The nude color will elongate your legs and the understated design is a chic alternative to the gonzo gladiators from seasons' past. Buy them now, wear them forever. On a side note, we also love Cocobelle's Braided Ankle Wrap Sandals ($120) and Pied A Terre's Lucas Twist Chain Detail Flat Sandals ($127), as both have a touch of the Lanvin vibe.
Abercrombie & Fitch Kristen Shorts ($98)
Now we know that leather hot pants aren't exactly for everyone, but we figured there must be a few daring girls out there with gorgeous gams. Ladies, these shorts are for you! Not only are they a cool way to wear all-weather leather, but they're also down-right affordable, making them a perfect pick for the leggy bohemian or a long-legged rocker chick.
Banana Republic Scoopneck Slubby Tank ($25) in Urban Gray
Is it possible to have too many tanks? Not when they're as fabulous as this semi-racerback style from Banana Republic! The Scoopneck Slubby Tank has a slightly sporty vibe and a wonderfully worn-in texture, plus it comes is four great colors. We suggest picking up the soft gray version show here first, but the other tones are terrific too.
Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral Brush on Powder SPF 30 ($30)
On a more practical note, when spending so much time in the sun, you need to protect your skin. If you're also interesting in cutting shine, definitely check out this mineral brush-on powder from skin guru Peter Thomas Roth. In addition to giving you some SPF 30 coverage, the transparent matte powder will make your complexion look fresh at all times!
Rebecca Taylor Corset Dress ($495)
It's entirely possible that you already have a fun floral dress in your wardrobe, but if you're lacking this key piece for some reason, definitely don't miss Rebecca Taylor's sweet version. Her silk-chiffon iteration has a ruched waist, pretty posy print, and corsetry detailing that touches on the season's boudoir trend. Additionally, the cut is ideal for this sort of event: the full skirt means you can sit easily (and discretely) and the strapless bodice saves you from wonky tan lines-two very good things! Need an alternative pick? Try Pins and Needles' Strapless Bloom Dress ($58) for a like-minded look.
Pins and Needles Straw Boater Hat ($28) in Natural
Coachella attendees have never met a head-topper that they didn't like, but while most will be wearing heavy felt boaters or woven fedoras, why not turn up in a less clichéd option, like this lightweight boater? There's something so romantic and old fashioned about the straw chapeau, especially with its wide black bow. It will bring a bit of antiquated charm to any outfit and give you a smidge of much-needed shade!
Marc Jacobs Aztec Ossie Bag ($1495, 212.343.1490)
The bag you bring to a music festival needs a number of attributes: it must have a long strap (for cross-body ease), a roomy body (for storing sunblock), and of course, it must be aesthetically pleasing! After much consideration, we found a fabulous option that satisfies all of our sartorial demands: Marc Jacobs new Aztec Ossie Bag. The woven leather bag is gorgeous in the cognac/taupe combo (also lovely in black/white) and has just the jaunty spirit you need for a three-day festival. Of course, it's a pricey pick, which is why we found a few alternatives for your shopping ease: also check out Kimchi Blue's Flap Pouch Cross-Body Bag ($38) in Ivory or ASOS's Leather Weave Barrel Hinge Lock Satchel ($47) for jaunty substitutes.
