Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel ($34) by Lisa Immordino Vreeland
While there are a bunch of amazing fashion books coming out this month-Carine Roitfeld: Irreverent, Cristobal Balenciaga: The Work of the Master, and Vogue: The Covers, to name just a few-there's one in particular we're very excited about: Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel. Chronicling fifty years of international fashion through the eyes of Diana Vreeland, this drool-inducing book is filled with over 350 gorgeous images, including magazine spreads and iconic photographs, from her reign as a fashion editor at Harper's Bazaar and editor-in-chief at Vogue. In addition to the awe-inspiring imagery, the book also offers insight into Vreeland's incredible vision, with profound commentary from "the High Priestess of Fashion" herself. In our opinion, every fashion girl should own this book!
Brulee Bias Cut Silk Cami ($124) and Silk Shorts ($86) in Blush with Black
Just as we're always on the hunt for the perfect blouses, skirts, and accessories, we find that tracking down the best loungewear and lingerie is equally important, which brings us to our next obsession-worthy October pick: Brulee's Bias Cut Silk Cami and Shorts. We were immediately drawn to the simplistic-yet-seductive design of these slinky separates, especially the silky fabric, which is both luxurious and incredibly comfortable. We also like the idea of wearing the top underneath a blazer to achieve that sleepwear-as-streetwear look that is so big right now. The best part: in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Brulee is donating 25 percent of all sales to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation!
Simone Camille Small Carpet Bag ($895) in Black/Bubble Leather
You can always expect the best in artistry and craftsmanship when it comes to Simone Camille's one-of-a-kind handbags-which are designed by stylist-to-the-stars Simone Harouche (Nicole Riche's one of her clients)-so we've been huge fans of the brand since its launch back in 2009. For fall, we've got our eye on the Small Carpet Bag, which offers just the right amount of rustic charm, thanks to its hand-woven vintage carpet accent, antique silver buttons, and leather fringe tassel. Even better: it comes in three different fabric and color combinations, our favorite being the Black and Bubble Leather shown above. Those of you in the market for a larger carryall this season, should definitely check out its older sister, the Large Carpet Bag ($975), which is ideal for storing all your essentials and more.
We love the trend of affordable blowdry bars (having someone else wash and style our hair is such a treat), but when it came to fixing our faces for a big event, we were left to our own devices-until now. As of October 7th, we'll be able to head to Blushington to have a professional makeup artist glam us up for only $35 a session! Much like DryBar, Blo, and Blow, Blushington offers a specific menu of looks to choose from-in this case, 7 different full-face options, ranging from the Pure & Simple (no-makeup makeup) to Smoke & Mirrors (defined cheekbones and smoky eyes)-or you can just have your eyes done for a mere $25. In addition to the basic makeup application, you can also select from a menu of add-ons, which include faux lash application, brow tinting or tweezing, and airbrush makeup. We got a preview of Blushington's services last week and requested the Lucky Star-dramatic cat-eye liner paired with polished skin and red lips, though we opted for neutral lipstick instead-plus faux lashes. (You can choose from individual lashes, which we went for, or strip lashes.) The results surpassed our wildest expectations and we were done in less than 20 minutes, so in other words: we'll be back, like immediately. While Blushington's first store is in West Hollywood, we hear there are many more outposts in the works, so keep your eyes peeled for this fabulous service!
Anniel Soft Shoes ($199, similar styles available at Satine) in Taupe
We recently popped into Satine, one of our favorite LA boutiques, and were quite pleased to discover these adorable shoes by Anniel. Not familiar with the brand? We weren't either, but after trying on a pair of their totally cute lace-ups, we were determined to find out more. Based in Italy, Anniel has been specializing in quality footwear and sportswear for 35 years. In addition to its popular dance and gymnastic shoes, the label also produces a mix of luxury street styles, like the Soft Shoe above. We're mad about this adorable gray and black spotted pair, and think they would look lovely worn with a knee-length dress or cropped trousers.
MANIAMANIA Limited Edition Abbey Lee Ring ($360) in Silver Plated/Amethyst Stone
If you came to our office, you'd find that just about every one of our inspiration boards has an image of Abbey Lee Kershaw on it. Coincidence? Not at all! In addition to her stunning looks and swoon-worthy style, the Australian model is also a musician, contributing her talents to tambourine, keyboard, and vocals for her band Our Mountain, making her all that much cooler in our books. And with a new jewelry collaboration under her belt, she can add designer to her ever-expanding resume. Yes, you read that correctly, Kershaw recently teamed up with the Australian jewelry brand MANIAMANIA to create the limited edition Abbey Lee ring. Inspired by the company's popular "Immortals" ring, this hauntingly beautiful bauble features silver plating and an amethyst crystal stone, making it the ultimate statement piece for your fall wardrobe.-Jessica Baker
