The Fashion File by Janie Bryant and Monica Corcoran Harel ($18)
Our love for all things Mad Men is well documented, but you simply must believe us when we say you need to buy this book. Written by Janie Bryant, the show's incredibly talented costume designer, and Monica Corcoran Harel, a well-known fashion journalist, the book offers lots of interesting insights on everything from how to dress for your body type to tips on elevating and enhancing your personal style. There's even a chapter for the fellows-stuffed with practical info about how their clothing should fit-which is really handy. Plus, Bryant's charming Southern voice comes through on every page making the book not only a great resource, but also a delight to read.
Preen Resort 11 Collection
Adored by editors and celebrities alike, Preen is one of those lines that rarely disappoints. For resort, designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi really outdid themselves with a collection inspired by one of our favorite Brigitte Bardot movies, Shalako. But while the film references a very specific Victorian look, the Preen interpretation is much more modern, think: full skirts with above-the-knee hemlines, pleated floor-length gowns, and numerous menswear-inspired items like softly tailored trousers. With a palette comprised primarily of blacks and whites-plus a few hits of red-the collection is perfectly in keeping with spring's monochromatic trend, ensuring these pieces will work well into next season.
L'Wren Scott by Lancome Nail Polish ($15) in Le Gris L'Wren
Lancome teamed up with designer L'Wren Scott to produce a limited-edition collection of makeup and the results are simply stunning. All of the products are quite lovely (there's an eye shadow palette and two ravishing lip colors worth checking out), but the nail polishes really caught our eye. The Le Gris L'Wren is a must-try gunmetal gray lacquer that the designer used for her F/W 10 collection while the Le Rouge L'Wren is a deep ruby polish with a touch of shimmer. Both are excellent choices and going fast, so snap one (or both) up today!
Smythson Zipped iPad Case ($445)
As admitted electronic-gadget collectors, we know first hand how difficult it is to find truly chic cases for said items. While in the past we were limited to neoprene pouches and dorky utilitarian options, the Smythson team has thankfully created a refined option for the iPad. In addition to this zipped option, the brand also makes both a sleeve case and a folding case, but we think this one is the best-especially in this Brown Mara color. Sure, it's a bit of an investment, but just think about how many times you'll use it and calculate the price-per-use from there! (That justification method never fails us!)
Denis Colomb Ring Shawls ($425)
Everyone loves a lightweight, festive-print, cotton scarf in the warmer months, but right now you need something a little more serious around your neck. While silk is certainly a yummy choice, our money will be spent on something a little more luxe, like a hand-woven shawl by Denis Colomb. Measuring in at a whopping 35" x 80", these ultra-cozy scarves will also keep you perfectly toasty when the wind comes whipping down the street. In addition to these practical concerns, these neck-wraps are available in a range of delicious neutral tones, so you'll have no problem picking one that works with your wardrobe perfectly.
Loud by Rihanna ($12)
By now you probably already know a couple of songs from Rihanna's fifth studio album, Loud, like "Only Girl (In The World)", "What's My Name?", and "S&M", but don't let that stop you from downloading the whole thing. The Barbadian chart-topper's latest batch of songs is lively, effervescent, and reliably engaging, making this album a guilt-free pleasure.
Proenza Schouler Resort 11 Tote Bag ($1350, 212.826.8900)
Not to jinx ourselves, but we've yet to see a Proenza Schouler bag we didn't like, including this killer tote from the brand's current resort collection. Much like the PS11, this bag is accented with the perfect amount of pyramid studs, plus, it comes in an obsession-worthy combination of cream, tan, and black. Get on the wait list now kiddos because this bag is definitely worth the effort!
