Running Out the Door? Don't Forget This
Sponsor Content Created With Timex
Every year without fail, November 1 hits and we're suddenly flooded with e-invites for infinite holiday-related affairs. Between our own party planning (not to mention party attending) and the endless gift-shopping that fills our free time, it's all too easy to de-prioritize the things we actually want to do as our calendars fill up with things we have to be at.
This year, we've teamed up with Timex as a reminder to take time in our busy schedules to really enjoy the season. Yes, our happy hour may only be a happy half-hour, but we will fit in wine and laughter with our friends. To help us squeeze in more good times this season, we've come up with three chic yet easy outfit ideas that include Timex's new stylish, ultra-thin gold Metropolitan watch (because we want you to actually make it on time to your plans!).
Below, discover what we're determined to take time for this season and the three on-trend looks we'll be wearing, accessorized down to the wrist (literally).
For a Happy Hour That Doesn't Feel Like a Chore
Instead of walking across the street to our usual happy-hour stomping grounds with our co-workers, we're booking a table and finally trying that new place we've been telling ourselves we'll check out for months. We'll even invite those friends (or friends of friends) we keep thinking we really need to catch up with. Since we'll obviously be coming straight from the office (who has the time to go home and change after work ever?), we'll need an outfit that's work-appropriate yet evening-ready.
To achieve the transitional look we're aiming for, we'll wear our go-to blazer but opt for after-hours–approved leather pants in place of our standard matching trousers. The printed blouse and bold clutch—which replaces our laptop-friendly tote—pump up the festive vibe. Timex's Metropolitan gold watch adds a chic finishing touch that rivals any of our statement cuffs.
For a Date for (Just) 2
With the onslaught of holiday parties and the invasion of our extended family (love you, Grandma!), we're designating some serious quality time with our significant others. We're pledging to find one entire day to spend together and do anything but gift-shop. To dress the part, we'll wear a cozy-cool outfit designed to take us from our local coffee shop to a stroll through the city and straight to a table for two at our favorite restaurant.
The outfit to play the part involves on-trend denim in a relaxed fit and an oversize cowlneck sweater (the season's must-have style). We'll accessorize with an embellished crossbody that's totally practical for a hands-free day and also perfect to elevate the look by night. Bonus points for choosing a bag that's too small to fit your iPhone, thus avoiding requests to pick up pie crust on your way home. PS: Don't miss out on showing off your wrist party this time of year—we're styling our timepieces over our fall layers (the cozy matte backdrop makes the gold really pop).
For a Not-So-Festive Affair
With the holidays coming at us from every angle possible (from store décor to the incessant carols playing on our local radio stations), taking a total break is the best. Get dressed up with friends and go to a play, a concert, or a fancy dinner (basically anywhere eggnog is most definitely not on the menu).
For a glamorous night out, we'll ditch our festive sweaters for a retro-inspired silky top with a statement sleeve and coordinated trousers that create a tonal effect. Our look will be topped off with evening-ready black-and-gold accessories that also give a nod to the '70s: a tasseled pouch, sleek sock boots for that seamless look, and a classic timepiece with a gold-mesh band and on-trend vintage feel. While the festive lights and music may be unavoidable when we hit the town, a non-holiday-related adventure is just what we need to take our minds off of that ugly sweater party we have to go to next week.
