S/S 11 Sunglasses

S/S 11 Sunglasses
Monday, June, 13, 2011 Between Audrey Hepburn's slightly cat-eye sunglasses in Breakfast at Tiffany's, Jackie O's infamous, oversized, squared-off shades, and the Olsen twins' vintage-inspired round frames, it's clear that famous females love their sunglasses--and understandably so! Acting as both armor and accessory, sunglasses have long been an essential wardrobe component for stylish celebs. With that in mind, we decided today's What Would She Wear story would be the perfect forum to reveal our predictions for what notable sunnies we might expect to see some of fashion's elite wearing this summer! And happily, this season didn't disappoint with its bevy of au courant styles. We think our picks are pretty spot on, so go ahead and read on for our ideas--from Balenciaga to House of Harlow 1960--and don't forget to fill us in on what shades you'll be sporting this summer.

1. Chanel Iman/ Balenciaga Sunglasses ($345, 212.872.2526) in Dark Brown
One of things we like best about Chanel Iman is her ability to pull of a wide range of looks, from glamorous evening ensembles to edgy off-duty attire. Accordingly, we think these ridiculously cool Balenciaga sunglasses speak perfectly to the stunning model's fashion-forward tastes. The frames offer a modern twist on classic aviator styles, and we have no doubt Iman would appreciate their unique look and youthful flair. We can certainly imagine her throwing them on while dashing between shows during Fashion Week. Of course, if the accompanying price tag is a bit too steep for your wallet, that doesn't mean you can't wear a similar style. We suggest checking out Marc by Marc Jacobs' Top-Bar Sunglasses ($98) and Forever 21's F8468 Sunglasses ($6) pronto--we promise you'll never want to take them off this summer!

2. Katie Holmes/ Cynthia Rowley Square Frame Sunglasses ($175, 212.242.3803) in Green Gradient
The moment we first laid eyes on these Cynthia Rowley sunnies, we knew we had to snag a pair immediately. We're quite fond of their oversized square frames and fantastic olive green ombre shading, and have a hunch that Katie Holmes would adore these noteworthy features as well. They are definitely fun and visually interesting, yet still very elegant, making them an excellent complement to Holmes' sophisticated and stylish ensembles! If you are equally enamored with these fabulous sunglasses, but are on a bit of a budget this summer, Colors in Optics' Cs112S Metal Sunglasses ($110) are a spot-on alternative, thanks to a squared silhouette and bold brow bar.

3. Kate Moss/ Michael Kors Oversized Sunglasses ($195) in Brown Bamboo
We've been studying Kate Moss' incredible sense of style for years, so when selecting sunglasses for the perennially chic model, we knew just the pair to pick: Michael Kors' Oversized Sunglasses! Like Moss, these amazing bamboo plastic shades are ultra-luxurious, plus their square frames and tonal lenses give them a great '70s vibe, so they're perfect in keeping with the season's top trends. Though we absolutely must own a pair immediately, we're also quite fond of Marc by Marc Jacobs' Square Sunglasses ($98), which feature similar gold-tone hardware, and Steve Madden's S1068 Sunglasses ($36), so be sure to check them out too!

4. Nicole Richie/ House of Harlow 1960 Sasha Sunglasses ($149)
As longtime admirers of Nicole Richie's jewelry and accessories line House of Harlow 1960, we'd be remiss if we didn't include a pair of sunglasses from her latest collection in today's story! And while we're still obsessing over the quirky Chelsea Sunglasses, right now we have our eye on the totally glamorous Sasha Sunglasses, and of course, think they would be a spectacular choice for the designer herself! The oversized round frames have a wonderful retro vibe that is in perfect keeping with Richie's vintage-inspired sensibilities, plus, they have structured, chain-link arms with removable tassel accents--very cool indeed! We're also fans of 80s Purple's Elle Sunglasses ($12) and Cheap Monday's Telekinesis Sunglasses ($30); both have that playful '60s-inpired round shape we've come to love so much!--Jessica Baker
