Now that the official start of summer is less than a month away (we can't wait for some seriously sunny days!), it's time to figure out your warm-weather style pronto, because before you know it, you'll be fully immersed in the season! That in mind, we couldn't help but notice that today's edition of What Was She Wearing: Answers! is chock full of inspirational ensembles that are perfect for the sizzling months ahead. Take, for example, Chloe Sevigny, whose lacey frock would be perfect for an afternoon BBQ, or Keira Knightley's flowy, ankle-grazing dress, which is a lovely choice for perusing the local farmer's market. But regardless of how you spend your off-duty hours, one thing is certain: we have all the need-to-know info for emulating your favorite celebrity ensembles, so read on for details!
1. Chloe Sevigny
If we're sure about one thing, it's that Chloe Sevigny knows a thing or two about how to work a white lace dress! In last week's Trend Report, the actress paired her dainty frock with strong black footwear and a chain-strap mini bag for a cool, laidback look, but it was her more recent white-on-white ensemble that caught your eye. Sevigny was photographed at the grand opening of CO-OP Food & Drink at the Hotel on Rivington in New York last week wearing Opening Ceremony's Floral Baby Doll Dress ($545) with white t-strap heels from the brand's F/W 11 collection. Though her white socks give the look a girly and youthful vibe, the peek-a-boo styling keeps the ensemble from feeling too saccharine. If you haven't already picked up a white lace dress this season, be sure to snag Ella Moss' Ophelia Lace Dress ($158), Topshop's Lace Peter Pan Shift Dress ($80), or Angie's Sleeveless Scoop Neck Beaded Lace Dress ($24) before it's too late. And although Sevigny's exact shoes won't be available for a few more months, Calvin Klein's Colette Pumps ($97) in Ivory Satin are an available alternative that will certainly do the trick!
2. Sarah Jessica Parker
Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted out at lunch in New York two weeks ago dressed a reader-favorite look. The actress wore a white 3.1 Phillip Lim sweater over a gunmetal gray L'Agence dress from the S/S 10 collection; be sure to check out the brand's 2 Tiered Tank Dress ($310, 323.651.4129) for a similar style that's available now. To further accentuate the ladylike vibe of her outfit, Parker accessorized with a pair of vintage ankle-strap heels, a Maison Martin Margiela bag, and Chanel sunglasses. The frock's midi skirt gives the ensemble an of-the-moment look, so we recommend picking up either Whistles' Erica Pleated Midi Skirt ($203) or Topshop's Black Pleated Midi Skirt ($80) today! To further achieve Parker's on-trend mix, we suggest styling your skirt with ASOS' Basic Dipped Hem Top ($24) and Aldo's Learman Platform Heels ($90) in White.
3. Keira Knightley
It's safe to say that Keira Knightley has quite the busy schedule these days--in addition to her successful London play, The Children's Hour, the stunning actress also has a few film projects in the works--but fortunately, that hasn't stopped the stylish brunette from turning up in a bevy of noteworthy ensembles. Take, for example, the outfit she wore while out and about in New York earlier this month. The The Last Night star paired Proenza Schouler's Thread Embroidered Crinkle Chiffon Dress ($795, available here in a shorter version) with Tapeet's Suede and Chain T-Bar Sandals ($375, available here in Bright Blue) and a Chanel bag for an effortlessly chic look that's perfect for afternoon outings. We suggest trying Robbi & Nikki's Water Lily Dress ($265) or Staple's Tie Waist Everyday Maxi Dress ($147) with Guess' Blytheana Sandals ($70) to create a similarly stylish ensemble.
4. Nora Zehetner
While we certainly enjoy a pair of wide-leg trousers or an accordion-pleat skirt, another way to freshen up your after-hours ensembles is via a pair of chic, tailored shorts a la Nora Zehetner. The actress garnered an A+ ranking from you when she attended an after-party for the premiere of Submarine in New York early this week, wearing a white Jil Sander for Uniqlo button-down shirt with gray Corey Lynn Calter shorts (which are unfortunately sold out everywhere) and a navy K.A. 7 cardigan. While her white Calvin Klein Collection platforms keep the outfit feeling polished, her hat--a piece she picked up at a local skate shop--gave the overall look a youthful and quirky finish. To construct a similar ensemble, simply snag MICHAEL Michael Kors' Button-Dutton Shirt ($80) and either the High-Waist Shorts ($137) by Theyskens' Theory or Ted Baker's Tailored Check Shorts ($164); just be sure to tuck the shirt into the shorts to keep the outfit from feeling too casual. And though we certainly love Zehetner's exact hat, Brixton's Pack Straw Bowler ($38) will give you a lovely look-a-like result!
5. Rachel Zoe
Stylist/designer/new mom Rachel Zoe never ceases to amaze you with her ability to mingle luxe '70s glamour with intriguing accents, which is why we weren't surprised that so many of you were interested in her latest outfit. The former WWW Guest Editor was snapped shopping in Los Angeles last week wearing a pair of 7 For All Mankind's Ginger Flare Leg Trousers ($155) in Lightweight Mercer with a rust blazer replete with gold military-inspired buttons from her eponymous clothing line, which won't be available until the fall. To round out her on-the-go ensemble, Zoe opted for Salvatore Ferragamo's Olive Croc Handbag ($6900, available at select Salvatore Ferragamo boutiques) and vintage Christian Francis Roth sunglasses. If you're looking to recreate Zoe's savvy mix, you simply must check out Gap's Vintage Flare Jeans ($60) in Medium Wash and Free People's Blank High Waisted Zippered Wideleg Jeans ($88). Once you have your denim sorted, be sure to check out Topshop's Double Breasted Gold Blazer ($130), which will give your look that extra bit of RZ panache!--Jessica Baker, with additional reporting by Simone Tetteh
