Boo! Halloween is just around the corner, so we hope you're getting in the holiday spirit by carving pumpkins, braving the local haunted houses, and crafting prize-winning costumes (who's going as Snooki?). Thankfully, your Who What Wear editors have been preparing in another way--we've picked up a hefty assortment of the season's finest treats for your enjoyment! But instead of king-size chocolate bars and lollipops, we're sharing the fashion scoop on the four delectable looks in today's installment of What Was She Wearing: Answers! So whether you're in the market for a chunky fall knit or the perfect ladylike skirt, we promise to be the most generous house on the block--for eye candy, at least!
We're not surprised to see that Sienna Miller is all smiles lately: the beautiful Brit has plenty to be excited about! Just last month she debuted Twenty8Twelve's biggest collection as part of London Fashion Week, plus she has two buzz-worthy film projects --The Trials of Cate McCullough and Yellow--in the works and has been spotted in a slew of incredibly stylish ensembles. For example, two weeks ago at the 21st British Film Festival in France (an odd location, indeed), Miller looked polished and oh-so cute in a cropped knit sweater and rolled up trousers, both of which are from Topshop and unfortunately sold out. Since chunky cable knits are the perfect way to stay fashionably cozy this season, use her look as inspiration and pick up Textile Elizabeth & James' Kennedy Pullover Sweater ($225); it's perfect for facing winter's chillier moments. Of course, if you're keen on Miller's peach-colored pairing, we suggest checking out ASOS White's Perfect Silk Peg Trousers ($110) for a like-minded look. Miller completed her transitional outfit with Prada sandals (a covetable pair from a few seasons ago) and the Palm-Printed Duchesse Bag ($1150, 212.664.0010) from the brand's vintage print collection, but if her petite carrier doesn't fit your budget, Marc B**'s The Knightsbridge Bag ($78) will surely fit the bill!
Dakota Fanning will be back on set to film The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part One in just a few weeks, but in the meantime, the darling actress shows us how to combine some of the season's hottest trends into one seriously enviable outfit. Photographed at LAX two weeks ago, Fanning looked comfy and travel appropriate in her AllSaints Yossi Cape ($370) and J Brand's Houlihan Skinny Cargos ($231) in Sahara. Fanning vamped up her travel outfit with Prada's Leopard-Printed Haircalf Sandals ($990) and Miu Miu's Patent-Leather Turn-Lock Bag ($1495)--both covetable options. Now, you don't have to break the bank to get Fanning's perfect autumnal look. For example, there are plenty of thick knit options to choose from, like ASOS' Chunky Ribbed Cape ($110), which is a personal favorite and a superb go-to option for the winter. Next, you'll need to pick up some utilitarian and animal-print pieces, like Forever 21's Cargo Skinny Pants ($23) and Joan & David's Beekman Two Piece Peep Toe Heels ($220). And you must not forget to grab a chic red handbag! Surely Fossil's Heritage Crossbody Bag ($158) will do the trick! Whether you choose to style them all together à la Fanning, or wear them separately is up to you, but each of these fall-worthy pieces is worth checking out.
Two things we have in common with you, dear readers, is a fondness for ladylike attire and Alexa Chung. Put them together, and the results are perfection! Take the simple, chic, and sweet head-to-toe Louis Vuitton ensemble Chung wore to the fashion house's F/W 10 show during Paris Fashion Week as our case in point. Chung layered the L/S Knit Top ($888, 866.VUITTON) over the Printed Sleeveless Dress ($3009, 866.VUITTON) from the Resort 11 collection, and finished her preppy look with the Velvet and Satin Beauty Pumps ($1240, 866.VUITTON) and Sofia Coppola Bag ($3730, 866.VUITTON). In the market for an ultra-feminine look of your own? Start by selecting a girly blouse, like American Apparel'sSilky Collar Tee ($39) or Pins & Needles'Peter Pan Woven Collar Blouse ($38), and layer it under a crewneck sweater (J. Crew's Cashmere Slouchy Sweater ($168) is our favorite). Now perhaps the most important part of your ensemble is a full, knee-length skirt, so don't forget to pick up TBA's Mushroom Print Silk Skirt ($185) or Anthropologie's Norwegian Woods Skirt ($88), and your outfit will be nearly complete. Finally, bow-bedecked shoes are a must for any ladylike ensemble, and Anne Klein's Faylinn Bow-Detail Pumps ($60) are the perfect alternative to Chung's pricier pair.
Leave it to the lovely Olivia Palermo to make your hearts race over another perfectly polished ensemble. Last month, The City star showed off her mastery of smart dressing by playing with a few different textures at Sephora's Make Up For Ever launch party. Palermo donned a black sequined top and nude silk skirt--both pieces from Emilio De La Morena's S/S 10 collection, to be exact--with a beaded shrug from Topshop. But the textural intrigue doesn't stop there! She finished her flawless look with Charlotte Olympia's Minerva Laser-Cut Suede Pumps ($1190) and Valentino's Rose Glam Sequined Clutch ($1695). For your next evening fete, grab yourself a shimmering top like Calvin Klein's Sequin Tank ($88) and pair it with a flirty skirt like See by Chloe's Mini Skirt ($149), and all eyes will be on you. To further embody the chic feeling of Palermo's outfit, pick up Badgley Mischka's Olaf Booties ($200) and BCBGMAXAZRIA's Reversible Sequin Envelope Clutch ($128): both will give you a similarly stunning finish.--Jessica Baker
