Paris Fashion Week
WHO: Joan Smalls
WHAT: Attending a party following Sunday's Givenchy's F/W 12 show.
WEAR: Standing out in cocktail attire isn't always easy; your first instinct might be to fall back on a trusted little black dress (hey, we're all guilty) and call it a night. That's why we wholeheartedly appreciate the way Smalls chose to wear Givenchy's Shiny Khaki Punto Milano Dress With Fish And Pique Trim ($3980), an architecturally unique number from the S/S 12 collection, to the fashion house's recent Fashion Week soiree. Sporting Givenchy from head to toe, the model pared down the rest of her look to keep the focus on her sleek frock with its alluring center split.
WHO: Olivia Palermo
WHAT: Arriving at last Friday's Christian Dior F/W 12 show.
WEAR: Palermo is a pro at giving luxe designer duds a practical twist for daytime. Case in point: she shrugged on a black Reiss cardigan over Christian Dior's Sorbonne Dress ($6500, 800.929.3467) from the Pre-Fall 12 collection, resulting in a look that's elegant yet understated. As always, Palermo opted for accessories that complement, rather than compete with, her outfit, including bold gold jewelry, a metallic Miss Dior clutch, and intricate Dior Spirale Shoes ($1150, 800.929.3467) in Suede.
WHO: Amanda Brooks
WHAT: Snapped on the go last Thursday in Paris.
WEAR: Brooks repurposes a breezy, summery piece-Isabel Marant's Heko Jumpsuit ($400) in Tan/Black-for winter by wearing it with a fitted vintage Chanel jacket and vintage fur scarf. The risk-taking Barneys New York Fashion Director blends different textures and prints together, but as expected, we find the fashion-forward outcome entirely covetable! Brooks' gold and black Celine shoes (and killer red mani/pedi job) add just the right touch of high-octane glam.
WHO: Mila Kunis
WHAT: Leaving the Christian Dior F/W 12 show on Friday.
WEAR: As effortlessly as Kunis nails the bold and sultry look (naturally, she's at the top of every magazine's "sexiest women alive" list) , the actress looks just as amazing in demure outfits as well. In Christian Dior's Sleeveless Dress ($5400, 800.929.3467) and Darling Coat ($4800, 800.929.3467), both from the Pre-Fall 12 collection, as well as a burgundy Miss Dior bag and peep-toe pumps, Kunis is the epitome of ladylike charm. The combination of soft pastel shades (creamy off-white and dusky pink) and modest silhouettes creates a perfectly feminine ensemble, fitting for Kunis' versatile style sensibilities.
WHO: Emmanuelle Alt
WHAT: Taking in the collection at the Isabel Marant F/W 12 show.
WEAR: Paris Vogue's editor-in-chief famously sticks to a nonchalant style tinged with a touch of rock 'n' roll, yet she manages to make every outfit appear fresh and appealing. One of Alt's favorite pieces (a cheetah print coat) punches up a handful of her tried-and-true basics (black sweater, skinny white jeans, black ankle boots). The result is one wearable look that's equal parts luxurious and laid-back.
WHO: Margherita Missoni
WHAT: Posing at the Giambattista Valli F/W 12 show on Monday.
WEAR: Missoni bundled up against the chill in a number of heavy knit layers, yet her ensemble is on-trend rather than overpowering! The designer livened up a printed dress with a long blue houndstooth coat, as well as a dramatic necklace that perfectly enhances her neckline. Even more refreshing? Missoni's comfortable flat lace-up shoes stand out from the sea of towering heels that are de rigueur for Paris Fashion Week!
WHO: Elena Perminova
WHAT: Checking out the collection at Monday's Stella McCartney F/W 12 show.
WEAR: Outfitted in a number of Marni at H&M pieces, including the Patent Leather Sweater/Jacket ($200), Men's Button Down Shirt ($40), and Silk Shorts ($50), all available in stores on March 8th, Perminova is clearly fond of mixed-print dressing. The Russian model also doesn't shy away from mixed-media jewelry; in addition to Marni at H&M's Earrings ($20), she sported the White Flower Necklace ($40) and Yellow Necklace ($50) together for a statement-making collar. Topped off with white platform shoes, Perminova's getup has a quirky retro vibe that's still very much in style for a modern-day fashion fiend.
WHO: Giovanna Battaglia
WHAT: Photographed last Friday at the Christian Dior F/W 12 show.
WEAR: Battaglia's outfit is a fine example of how to inject streamlined, office-appropriate attire with a dose of edge. The editor/stylist accented her belted Lanvin dress, specifically Look 39 from Pre-Fall 10, with a cozy Loro Piana scarf, Sara Battaglia clutch, CA&LOU Anne Lobo Rose Gold Earrings ($465) and Cecile Rose Gold Bracelet ($785), and Sergio Rossi crocodile pumps from the F/W 12 collection. Battaglia also cleverly keeps her outfit from looking too matchy-matchy by pairing different-colored pieces in the same family of warm brown and russet hues.
WHO: Alicia Keys
WHAT: Walking into Givenchy's F/W 12 show on Sunday.
WEAR: With just a few wardrobe additions, Keys transformed a straightforward combo (Givenchy's crisp white Sheer Chiffon Blouse ($1625) and cropped black pants) into an ensemble befitting her rock star status. A bold cross necklace over her button-down's collar and Givenchy's White Wool And Satin Long Tuxedo Jacket ($2967) draped over her shoulders like a cape lend the singer's goth-inspired look some serious panache.
WHO: Dasha Zhukova
WHAT: Hanging out at Friday's Christian Dior F/W 12 show.
WEAR: Though Zhukova's Paris Fashion Week attire skews slightly more casual than our aforementioned ensembles, we think it's one still worthy of your sartorial scrutiny! We love the flattering medley of cream and gray shades on the Russian socialite, who sported a Isabel Marant fringed knit sweater, skinny jeans, knee-high boots, and a chic Celine handbag for a stylish cold-weather look.-Tiffany Tse
