Poppy Delevingne & Josephine de la Baume
When we first spotted this photo of Poppy Delevingne and Josephine de la Baume, the phrase "opposites attract" immediately came to mind. The gorgeous ladies were snapped together at the Saloni F/W 11 presentation during London Fashion Week sporting yin and yang ensembles. While Delevingne put together a lovely ladylike look--specifically, a white blazer and shorts by Irwin & Jordan, Aldo wedges, and a Louis Vuitton scarf--de la Baume opted for a downtown, tough-girl ensemble, consisting of a 3.1 Phillip Lim jacket, sheer Prada crop top, vintage gray skinnies, and Miu Miu's Leather Lace-Up Heels ($795, select Miu Miu boutiques). To recreate Delevingne's resort-ready look, don't miss Topshop's White Linen Waterfall Jacket ($84) and Steven Alan's Berin Silk and Linen-Blend Shorts ($160); when paired together, these all-white separates make for a refreshing springtime ensemble. Then simply add ASOS' Crinkle Oversize Leopard Scarf ($22) for that perfect animalistic finish! If you'd rather channel your inner bad girl instead, try Kelly Birgin's Silk Chiffon T-Shirt ($140) and Gestuz's Textured Wash Leather Biker Jacket ($430); the latter is a spot-on alternative to de la Baume's amazing 3.1 Phillip Lim pick.
Ashley & Mary-Kate Olsen
Admittedly, we're super fans of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and are always on the lookout for their winning outfit selections. Most recently, the dynamic duo caught our attention wearing luxuriously chic furry pieces to the celebration of Vanessa Traina's capsule collection for Maje in New York last month. While Mary-Kate kept cozy in a multi-colored coat from The Row's F/W 11 collection, black pants, and Balenciaga ankle boots, Ashley wowed us in a leopard-print hat and a boyfriend coat from The Row's Pre-Fall 11 collection. And though their outfits are more cold-weather friendly, Ashley's decision to accent her neutral picks with a bright blue bag is perfect in keeping with spring's rainbow bright trend. Now, seeing as the temps are beginning to heat up, piling on the furry accents may not be the most practical idea. Instead, incorporate some texture into your look with a lightweight outerwear option, like Topshop's Blue Textured Tie Dye Bomber Jacket ($150). If you're not into that idea, follow Ashley's lead and liven up your sober color palette with a vibrant bag. We're fans of Giani Bernini's Pebble Convertible Tote ($128), which is ideal for those who prefer a shoulder carrier, or Forever 21's Leatherette Embossed Handbag ($21) for our readers who fancy across-body styles.
Taylor Tomasi Hill & Zanna Roberts
It's always intriguing to see how top editors are addressing the latest trends, so of course, we were over the moon when we spotted two members of Marie Claire's fashion team--Taylor Tomasi Hill and Zanna Roberts--looking fabulous together at the 2011 Gem Awards in New York earlier this year. We love the way Tomasi Hill experimented with texture and the season's ultra-bright hues by wearing Prada's Fox Fur Stole ($4805, select Prada boutiques) with a Burberry blazer and yellow Balenciaga skirt. One of the things we like best about her smart outfit is that it's so simple to recreate; just grab a black jacket, like Theory's Lanai Relaxed Blazer, and pair it with Truly Madly Deeply's Mini Pencil Skirt ($32)! We're also fans of Roberts' clever styling choices, specifically the way she paired a Michael Kors sweater with J. Crew's Sequin Long Skirt ($2500) for a shimmering bohemian look. If you like the idea of combining a cozy crewneck with a floor-length skirt, we suggest trying J. Crew's Cotton Alexi Sweater ($70) with AllSaints' Bell Maxi Skirt ($90). However, if you're looking to give your ensemble a little razzle-dazzle a la Roberts, Culture Phit's Sequin Skirt ($130) is a lovely option for an evening affair.
Amanda Brooks & Jenna Lyons
What do you get when you put Amanda Brooks (the Fashion Director of Barneys New York ) and Jenna Lyons (the Creative Director of J. Crew) in the same room? Sartorial heaven, of course! And that is precisely what happened at the J. Crew Insiders Fashion Event hosted by American Express in New York late last year, where Brooks and Lyons were snapped wearing equally noteworthy ensembles. We're totally smitten with Brooks' quirky black and white mix, which consists of a Brooks Brothers button-up shirt, 3.1 Phillip Lim romper, and Roger Vivier shoes. To recreate her noteworthy outfit, simply pick up Lucca Couture's Suspender Pants ($59) and style it with BDG's Classic Solid Breezy Button-Down Shirt ($39) and KG by Kurt Geiger's Eveline Flower Detail Platforms ($269). Lyons also impressed us with her utilitarian-inspired ensemble; we particularly appreciate the way she styled her J. Crew pieces, contrasting the lacey frock's feminine vibe with an army jacket and nylon grommet belt. To create a similarly stylish outfit, we suggest wearing Alice by Temperley's Lace Shift Dress ($350) with BDG's Cinched Anorak ($78).
Hilary Rhoda & Byrdie Bell
Whether it's super elegant or a bit more playful, we always love a great cocktail dress, so you can imagine our excitement when we came across Hilary Rhoda and Byrdie Bell in their amazing frocks! The two beauties were snapped together at the launch party for Brian Atwood's second shoe line, B Brian Atwood, in New York early last month in ravishing ensembles. Rhoda looked stunning in neutral tones, wearing a taupe Lanvin dress from a few seasons ago and nude Brian Atwood's Zenith Pumps ($630, 877.551.7257), while Bell captivated us with her quirky and energetic ensemble. The actress/model selected David Szeto's Wrap Dress ($955), Brian Atwood boots, and an OAK hat, resulting in a quirky, modern mix we love. If you're currently in the market for a party outfit, Topshop's Limited Edition Drape Side Dress ($350) and ASOS' Salmon Ottoman Side Drape Cocktail dress ($134) are both lovely options that remind us of Rhoda's fancy frock. Of course if you're looking for a statement dress like Bell's, Lipsy's Instinct Animal Print Frill One Shoulder Dress ($99) will certainly fit the bill. Just be sure to wear it with Reiss' Quincey Hat ($27) to further achieve her winning look.
Katie Holmes & Joanna Hillman
A slew of industry insiders were spotted at Barneys New York last month for a preview of Holmes & Yang's F/W 11 collection--the latest from Katie Holmes and her design partner Jeanne Yang's clothing line. Among the stylish crowd, we spotted Joanna Hillman hanging with Holmes, both looking quite cozy in their amazing outwear. Hillman, the Senior Fashion Market Editor for Harper's Bazaar, demonstrated how to create an effortlessly layered look by styling Equipment's Signature Blouse ($208) in Electric Blue with a Proenza Schouler leather jacket and a Michael Kors fur vest. For the bottom half of her outfit, Hillman opted for a pair of slim Zara pants and finished with gray Nine West wedges. Holmes looked refined and chic in MaxMara's Camel Hair Belted Coat ($2390, 212.879.6100) over a top by The Row and The Men's Trouser ($1035, available at select Barneys New York stores) from her very own S/S 11 collection. For those of you interested in trying Hillman's smartly layered look, start by picking up her exact Equipment blouse or go for Old Navy's Lightweight Roll-Up Camp Shirt ($25) in French Blue for a more budget-friendly option. After you've got your bottom layer sorted out, grab Urban Code's Chunky Zip Leather Biker Jacket ($197) then add Kensi's Fur Vest ($35). If it's Holmes look you're after, simply pick up French Connection's All Hours Coat ($288) and style it with a black top and Calvin Klein's Stretch Cotton Wide Leg Pants ($69). The resulting look is an excellent choice for the office or an after-work event.--Jessica Baker
