WHO: Diane Birch
WHAT: Currently at work in London on her second studio album, Birch is a soulful singer-songwriter who creates piano-driven music with slightly '70s vibe and counts superstars like Prince amongst her fans.
WEAR: Snapped during the Tribeca Film Festival at the debut of Karl Lagerfeld and Rachel Bilson's original short film series for Magnum Ice Cream, Birch showed off her noteworthy fashion sensibilities by pairing a Comme des Garcons midi skirt with a cropped red vintage Christian Dior Jacket. As always, she picked a slew of noteworthy accessories, including Iro ankle boots, a Lock & Co hat, vintage Chanel belt, and loads of vintage jewelry. To emulate her look, try the following pieces: Eight Sixty's High Low Dress ($92), Stylestalker's Addict Maxi Dress ($140), Topshop's Coral Crop Shoulder Detail Jacket ($110), Forever 21's Cropped Linen- Blend Blazer ($28), and ASOS' Wide Brim Fedora ($43).
WHO: Janelle Monae
WHAT: In addition to being a fashion-editor favorite--did you see her in the July issue of W yet?--Monae is currently at Glastonbury, touring Europe, and is doing a few performances with Katy Perry this summer.
WEAR: Photographed arriving at the 2011 Pre-Grammy Gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel earlier this year, Monae looked wildly chic wearing a menswear-influenced Chanel look. Instead of opting for a traditional tux, we love the fact that Monae went for cream-colored separates and accented these tailored pieces with a floppy black bow tie. To emulate her look, try the following pieces: Topshop's Ellie Bow Blouse By Yuki ($110), Alice + Olivia's Mindy Stretch Silk Blouse ($154), By Malene Birger's Ballak Zip Pocket Pants ($295), and Whistles' Waterfall Coat ($388).
WHO: Sky Ferreira
WHAT: The ridiculously beautiful 19-year-old Ferreira has a cult-following of the coolest fashion-world insiders who love her Nylon and Calvin Klein-approved looks (she stars in the latter's CK One campaign), gritty personal style, and infectious pop songs.
WEAR: Spotted at the spring benefit celebrating the opening of the second section of New York's High Line, Ferreira went for a minimalist look in an all-white Calvin Klein Collection ensemble, which was comprised of the Silk Drape Sleeved Dress ($1795, 212.292.9000) from the Pre-Fall 11 collection and a pair of Smoked Brush Calf Pumps ($795, 212.292.9000) from the Fall 11 collection. To emulate her look, try the following pieces: 6 Shore Road's Le Sac Dress ($98), Theory's Jaylyn Dress ($295), Opening Ceremony's Chantal Lace Platform Pumps ($402), and Jeffrey Campbell's Patent D'Orsay Wedges ($149).
WHO: Tennessee Thomas
WHAT: By day, Thomas is the drummer and one of the founding members of the perpetually buzzed-about band The Like (which played during Rachel Antonoff's Fall 11 presentation, to the delight of all attendees), but by night she's the poster girl for quirky, vintage-loving fashion enthusiasts.
WEAR: Photographed at the NARS party celebrating Francois Nars' new beauty book, Makeup Your Mind: Express Yourself earlier this summer, Thomas looked darling, as always, in a polka-dot Prada shirt, Charles Anastase pleated skirt, and APC boots. We especially adore the fact that she carried a vintage basket in lieu of a handbag. To emulate her look, try the following pieces: Coast's Evelyn Blouse With Polka Dot Print ($121), Topshop's Buttermilk Polka Dot Drop Hem Ruffle Cami ($40), By Corpus' Drape Tulip Skirt ($59), Ecote's Leather Chelsea Boots ($79), and H by Hudson's Cowboy Ankle Boots ($138).
WHO: Oh Land
WHAT: Known for a clever mix of pop, dance, and experimental electronica, this Danish beauty is currently supporting her latest self-titled album with a European tour. You can catch her late next month when she makes her way back to the U.S. with shows in Minneapolis, Chicago, and Detroit.
WEAR: Photographed outside the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York back in March, the singer-songwriter demonstrated why her unique-yet-inspiring sense of style should be celebrated. She created a noteworthy, affordable outfit comprised of a cropped H&M jacket, Urban Outfitters blouse, and printed shorts by Weekday. To incorporate some refined bohemian flair into the mix, Oh Land accessorized with a wide-brimmed vintage hat and an Alexander Wang long-strap bag, and finished the ensemble with a pair of caramel Tolstoy peep toe heels. To emulate her look, try the following pieces: Warehouse's Luxe Cropped Blazer ($207), French Connection's Floral Shorts ($81), Rag & Bone's Flynn Hat ($125), and Jeffrey Campbell's Douma Platform Wedge Sandals ($179).
WHO: Florence Welch
WHAT: Welch, otherwise known as the star of Florence + the Machine, has earned high acclaim for her incredible rock and soul vocals, which can be enjoyed on her first album Lungs. She is currently in London working on her second album, which is expected to release later this year.
WEAR: The gorgeous redhead has proven to be quite the tastemaker lately, stepping out in a slew of awe-inspiring ensembles by high-profile fashion houses like Chanel and Givenchy. Speaking of the latter, Welch caught our attention during Paris Fashion Week back in March, when she wore Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci's Armadillo Grain de Poudre Jacket ($2855, 312.587.1000), Armadillo Satin Skirt ($2780, 305.674.7899), and Armadillo Wool Print Bag ($1805, available at select Nordstrom stores). The combination of matching bold prints speaks to the vocalist's adoration for unexpected and visually intriguing ensembles. To emulate her look, try the following pieces: Just Female's Urban Printed Soft Tailored Jacket ($112) and Winter Kate's Kamkura Maxi Dress ($275).
WHAT: It's been a year since Uffie released her debut album Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans, but the Florida born, France raised phenom continues to win over the Paris underground music scene with her cool, electro-pop vocals.
WEAR: Spotted at the Paris premiere of Sucker Punch a few months ago, Uffie impressed us with her cool-girl sensibilities, and the way she expertly teamed a feminine pink button-down blouse and classic black pumps with a leather jacket and dark skinny jeans for a fresh take on this season's downtown-lady trend. To emulate her look, try the following pieces: Topshop's Faux Leather Bomber Jacket ($106), Equipment's Signature Blouse ($188), Decades Denim's Marilyn Cropped Cigarette Jeans ($108), and Jessica Simpson's Waleo Pumps ($89).
