What should I wear to a concert (not a festival)?

by Who What Wear

Dressing for a concert is almost as fun as attending one. The key is to look effortless and feel at ease enough to sit, sway, dance, or stage-dive with abandon. We suggest you start building your look around your shoes; after all, your choice of footwear is crucial at a concert! Read on to find a stylish ensemble that’s appropriate for everything from a rock ‘n’ roll performance to an indie pop act.

If You Wear Sneakers…
We love sneakers right now--as do our feet!--and the right pair look profoundly cool with an authentic-looking rock tee or digital-print top, blazer, and leather pants! We are feeling everything from a classic low-profile shoe in canvas or even leather to loosely laced high-tops that feel chunkier and more substantial.

If You Wear Heels…
If you live in heels, another option is to wear a sandal or wedge (think: Penny Lane in Almost Famous). A closed-toe option works well--in case fellow concertgoers step on your toes--but we also suggest this pair for a pop of color or some summery espadrilles. Pair your shoes with bell-bottom jeans--yes, they’re back!--in a worn, destructed wash. Pull out your favorite hippie-inspired top in tonal florals or an embroidered tunic, and polish off your look with a worn brown leather belt.

If You Wear Boots…
Stick to the same formula, but simply team a pair of low-profile ankle boots or cropped cowboy boots (a cutout style works too!) with skinny jeans. Make sure it’s a cropped style, and be sure to keep your hippie top and leather belt in play too.
