What are key pieces of lingerie every woman should own?
Your undergarments can be just as important as the uber fashion-y outfit they hide beneath, but there's so much to choose from. To streamline your lingerie drawer, we've broken it down into three categories of must-have intimates.
Must-Have #1: Something Sweet Every girl needs to have a slew of options—bras, undies, camis, and sleep shorts—that feel sweetly girly, but are also entirely comfortable. Feel free to mix and match prints and patterns, but when doing so, make sure you stick to one fabric. Think: a silk polka-dot triangle bra and silky striped sleep boxers. We love touches of lace, bows, ruffles, and ruching.
Must-Have #2: Something Sexy Nothing makes you feel more empowered or feverishly feminine than some unexpectedly risqué underpinnings. Get fitted for a gorgeous push-up bra and buy a few pairs of delicate undies to match. Go for black or animal print—lace works too—and remember that a little peek of these bombshell necessities is a powerful thing.
Must-Have #3: Something Strategic As stylists, we often rely on undergarments that push, slim, and smooth our clients in all the right places. As such, we highly recommend having some very basic slips in both nude and black, preferably mid-thigh length so they can be worn with a short or long dress. We also are big fans of having a variety of both minimizing and seamless accouterment on hand, from barely-there thongs to pull-on contouring pencil skirts to self-adhesive bras. You won't regret having these helpers on standby when you're wearing more challenging dresses or formalwear.
