Isabel Marant, the ultimate designer of understated Parisian chic, consistently creates the most desirable and wearable collections. Beloved by industry insiders and a coterie of loyal celebrity costumers alike, Marant is renowned for her sexy separates that mix and match to create a look that is studied yet casual, elegantly playful, and girly with an androgynous edge. For her S/S 09 show, she veered away from her Saint-Germain-des-Prés stomping ground and produced pieces that were country inspired—but think prairie, rather than Provence! Peppered with dashes of denim cut-offs, Marant's runway was also filled with quaintly quilted tunics, floral-print frocks, flashes of plaid, and spot-on slouchy suede boots wrapped with metallic chains. Of course, she also turned out her signature staples, like easy-to-wear lingerie-inspired little dresses, tomboyish outerwear, ruffled minis, and fitted henleys, too.

The Alexander Wang-coined, Who What Wear-celebrated phrase "model off duty" is generally accepted as shorthand for a sort of sexy, semi-disheveled, downtown look, but not every runway regular opts for this stripped-down style. Au contraire, dear readers! While slightly grungy outfits are a backstage certainty, some high-profile faces prefer to present themselves in a more polished way. Just take a look at today's story subject—the captivating Jourdan Dunn—for example. The nearly 19-year-old British model favors contemporary updates of classic pieces and never fails to impress with the way she grounds girly silhouettes with down-to-earth accessories. In short, Dunn's Hepburn-meets-hippie fashion sensibilities are definitely delightful and certainly worth showcasing.

Like a refreshing glass of lemonade or a decadent lobster roll, you can count on certain oldies-but-goodies to hit the spot each summer. Of course, as dedicated editors, we always appreciate a nostalgic nod in the apparel department too, so we were beyond pleased to observe some decidedly classic hat styles on some of our favorite fashionable ladies. Naturally, a chic chapeau will always add an immense deal of character to any outfit and we are always pleasantly surprised by how a straw boater, timeless cloche, or always-in-favor fedora can add a little extra polish and flair to an outfit. While these whimsical fashions are certainly eye-catching and fun, we also love this accessory for its functionality: when it comes to shielding your face from the sun's rays (or, in the case of this sextet, unwanted camera flashes), a hat is about as good as it gets. Of course, narrowing down the crème of the crop was not an easy task, but we are happy to present our well-edited selections in today's edition of How They Wear.
