W.W.S.W.: Vanessa Hudgens
We’ll be the first to admit that we’re not overly familiar with Vanessa Hudgens’s career—we’ve never seen High School Musical and aren’t sure if we get the Disney channel. Despite our blanks regarding her body of work, we are aware that this young actress is becoming quite the fashion plate.
Hudgens tends to blend her tough, tomboy items and girly-girl staples with earthy elements (think: long beaded necklaces, fringed boots, flowers in hair). If we were to explain her personal taste in pitch meeting/movie terms, we’d say her look is very Pocahontas meets The Outsiders, with a touch of West Side Story thrown in for good measure.
Meshing the numerous, distinct, and seemingly antithetical styles Hudgens favors into a cohesive look might seem impossible, but it’s actually not difficult to achieve. We centered the outfit around a pair of sharp, lean jeans and a blouse that manages to be both modern and bohemian. We added a delicate, vintage charm necklace to play up Hudgens’s propensity for romantic details and a high-design, high-end bag with severely simple lines for a bit of masculine balance. The final touch is an of-the-moment nail polish in a shade that’s nearly as popular as Hudgens herself.

The drawstring neck on this gorgeous, dove gray top is sweet without being overly sugary. It’s also long enough to tuck into pants or to wear loose (Hudgens goes for both looks equally).
4. J. Crew Patent Leather Skinny Belt ($34).
We adore the slim shape and unexpected pop of color this skinny patent belt gives any outfit. It’s also available in pink (bright azalea), yellow (golden sun), and, for your minimalists, black.
5. Marni Paper Thin Leather Balloon Bag

Hudgens is fantatical about her gray accessories (she’s always spotted in her favorite Prada d’Orsay heels in the soft shade). This slate gray bag has a chocolate brown, cross body strap and brown, inserted handles would be a fashion-forward choice.
6. Steve Madden Tianna Boots ($99.95)
When not stomping around in the aforementioned stilettos, Hudgens keeps things grounded with flat boots. We’ve seen her sporting cuffed pirate boots and boots with buckles, but the girl needs some slightly slouchy, brown suede boots like these to round out her collection.
Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Blue Satin ($19)
Navy nails have been on the radar for nearly six months, but be sure the trend is going to get a whole new audience and big-time boost with the release of Chanel’s Blue Satin polish. It’s available on Chanel’s website currently, so get it and wear it before everyone else.

i know i posted a comment on vanessa's style and how i love it but now i kind of feel differently, i do feel like it is kind of try hard and after reading some people's comments i now realize that she is kind of copying other celebrities. but it is cute though. I feel like she looks cute half of the time, but when she does, its copying off of mary-kate's style... its really contrived. i love vanessa's style! she never looks like she;s trying too hard. wow, some of these things are harsh...but really?? some of you think nicole richie is a fashion icon, ha. All you see is the same pieces of clothing on a different girl, they are ALL the sameeeeeee. Poppy, I absolutely agree with you.

sigh M-K Olsen is her style icon? Well, that's kinda obvious: Grandpa-Cardigan, Designer armcandy, heaps of hobo jewelry and stringy hair are all in place.
But hasn't Ms. Olsen moved on by now? Honestly, I think that the only thing that this girl has going for her is that she's pretty. Her looks draw people in, but that does not by any means make her stylish at all. The outfits she wears look good most of the time, but not in an inspiring way. Although her "look" is not as original as some might hope, I have to admit...She looks cute every time she's photographed. So kudos to her for being able to look so well put together. I have to agree with Maggie, how about featuring Charlotte Gainsbourg and while you're at it, her sister Lou Doillon, she has style by the bucketloads... she has cute style SOMETIMES. she just buys everything she gets her hands on at urbanoutfitters. i do love what you guys choose for her...now if only everytime she wasn't in People and US Weekly she wasn't wearing that same effin' cardigan. i like the chanel bag that she's carrying. a lot of celebrities seem to have that i want the necklace i have to say, if i were to see her in that outfit, i wouldnt look twice. its cute, but nothing too special. but i do like the clothes you picked out.
i have the steve madden boots in black and looove them. people stop hating on vanessa, she has a great style. I love everything she wears. She is a fashion icon! I usually like your posts, but this is a true dissappointment. sorry her style is a little too contrived for me. I prefer someone's style to look naturally effortless and individual but I always get the feeling that she took two hours to look "effortless". But seriously, I love how WWWD showcases new style-setters that are currently in the limelight, while also showcasing normal, everyday, "MySpace Muses" on their Myspace site! I am such a fan and always get inspiration from the Muses. OH MY GOD WWWD! are you freaking serious?! i am shocked & appalled that you would degrade yourself this much by featuring someone as lame & uninspiring as a disney channel star who will only be remembered by her nude pictures. thanks for that. really. Will you please post the picture of her with an IV in her arm or something ridiculous like that? No matter how hard I try I just cannot commend these girls who have become famous because of their parents and their partying ways. Can we look at people who have style and substance? And who haven't made at least one trip to rehab.
That said, your site is addicting, and I love your posts (even if I don't agree with them). I agree with Maia! I would like to see people like that. Cory K's photo shoot in nylon was awesome, though her interview was a tad annoying I have to admit she's adorable-she does put together lots of basic muted pieces but makes them exciting. Her style is totally wearable which I like that is so my style. She looks like she tries to hard. Borrrring. Not very fashion forward. I would like you guys to feature someone like Cory Kennedy every once in a while. She's kind of annoying but is very bold fashionwise and mixes a lot of different styles but blends them together. i think she looks super cute, it is just right and super age appropriate... and the chanel bag doesnt hurt either! ;) nothing ground-breaking here. she gets a few miu mius and chanels and goes shopping at kitson (generic) and becomes a style icon? please. 6 months ago she dressed like me in middle school-aka the hotness that is Limited Too i'm sorry she's just one of those people that screams "POSER!" to me. she wasn't dressing like this 6 monthes ago. whilst this is all very generic it's also really wearable. And its not really that last season either, the clothes haven't much changed.
Finally all celebs in hollywood basically look the same, one person wears it and then the rest follows.

Her look is cute, and the items you picked are cute, but it's much too "safe". She doesn't inspire me at all. I guess fashionable means shopping where all the other girls shop, right? Let's all go to Intermix. I would, however, like to give props to WWWD for featuring a great purple belt and the blue satin polish. I think she just imitates everything she sees on real trendsetters as Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and co. Love the stuff you picked out though. That belt is wonderful. the jeans are cute but otherwise this look is extremely boring. she just seems like a newbie in hollywood who's copying all the A-lister's looks from last year. i wore this look in about 9th or 10th grade. can we get a little more focus on truly fashion forward people, like sienna miller, mary-kate olsen, charlotte gainsbourg, etc? i like her now that her hairs grown out....and i like the purple belt, just to be original!
