What Would She Wear: Zoe Kravitz

It’s summer (just in case you hadn’t noticed) and the warm nights and sunnier-than-usual forecasts put us in a very playful mood. All the WhoWhatWearDaily.com staffers are showing up in very creative outfits and the overall sartorial vibe around the office is unquestionably more spirited than usual. In honor of all these fun style experiments, we thought it would be appropriate to spotlight a young woman who has a decidedly fresh take on fashion—Zoe Kravitz.

As the progeny of two stunning parents, Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, both of whom are equipped with unique and occasionally eccentric taste, our subject was bound to put herself together in a distinctive way. It’s easy to spot the parental influence at work; the young Kravitz is a hybrid of rocker like her dad (tough jewelry and body-conscious pieces) and metropolitan hippie like her mom (whimsical accessories and loads of vintage). We fused the two distinctively different mindsets for today’s What Would She Wear and created a look that blends the adventurous with the earthy. Read on for our collection of Kravitz-inspired items!

1. Elizabeth and James Cardi Vest ($395)
The second we saw this charcoal button-up vest by Elizabeth and James we knew it would make an ideal anchor for this story. The classic sleeveless cardi adds a scholarly gravity and keeps the outfit from erring into an overly playful look. The vest will be available at Neiman Marcus in mid-August, so check back soon!

2. Topshop Frill Top Ankle Socks ($6)
It takes a bold character to step out in mint-colored socks, but we think Kravitz is more than equipped to handle such ankle flair.

3. Orly Hot Stuff Collection Nail Polish in Hook Up ($3.19)
Kravitz has an almost painterly ability to mix and match colors, so no doubt she’d come up with something unexpected, like traffic-sign yellow polish playing off pastel socks. Orly’s polish has just the right amount of pigmentation and the hues are nicely intense.

4. French Connection Gold Interlink Necklace ($29.99)
When it comes to jewelry, Kravitz tends to select pieces with a certain strength and size. This simple chain necklace is equal parts tough and tender.

5. Anna Sui Satin Sleeveless Playsuit ($285)
There’s something very sly about this romper, sly and sort of Madonna-esque (Madge circa the early nineties). The black satin is quite flirty, but the innocent silhouette keeps the romper from looking too sexy.

6. Kenneth Jay Lane Antique Cuff ($370)
Kravitz also often chooses vintage (or vintage-appearing) jewelry, which is why we thought this cuff would be a smart selection. The silver and gold bracelet is 2.5 inches wide and has five linked panels.

7. Sweetheart Vintage Leather Messenger Bag ($207)
Speaking of vintage, this understated leather messenger bag has the same unique sensibilities and as the purses Kravitz tends to tote.

8. Steven by Steve Madden Galah Booties ($199.95)
These khaki suede lace-up booties are neutral enough to wear now and they will transition nicely into fall and winter. They also remind us of some of the styles we’ve seen Kravitz wear!

I esp. like the rounded bottom of her jacket. I agree with Alis...Lenny Kravitz is really hot. I bet if her friends come over it's awkward.

Really not keen on the ankle-boots-&-bare-legs look, but in most of the other outfits I've seen her in, she does look incredibly relaxed & confident. Not sure about the yellow nails but I love the playsuit & the messenger bag.

I feel like this is so out of season for here, considering its about 85 degrees. But, maybe towards the end of summer. And that yellow nail polish, I hate it. Off, it looks great, but when you put it on it looks like smokers nails. thefashionaddiction.blogspot.com

I never really got into her. Or haven't yet. I don't know... But WWWD has been pushing her as a fashion icon for a couple months now. www.RunawayGallery.com

Oh please... who cares whose daughter she is? She's gorgeous, and she can dress trendy without looking stupid. She looks really comfy in her own skin, and that's good to see. Another vote for the necklace -- maximum cuteness!

Another "daughter of" but at least this one is beautiful, and her outfit is cute. I love how she is always showing off her great legs!

i hate to say it but I just can't get that into her. I don't know if its that fact that she's just another rock stars daughter or many girls dress like her... ah well.
