What Was She Wearing: Answers/Jan 31st

In this edition of What Was She Wearing: Answers! we’ve unearthed all kinds of outfit goodies, from what The Hills girls are wearing to wardrobe details for Brit “it” girl, Peaches Geldof.

Audrina Patridge
Though it comes as second-nature by now for Audrina Patridge to go about her day camera-ready, we must give her extra kudos for looking effortlessly put together even at the airport. The cute laidback sweater she recently wore to LAX intrigued our readers to know where they may acquire one of their own. With a warm neutral shade and a double breasted assortment of buttons, the Nicholas K sweater is from Saks Fifth Avenue, and though they don’t carry it online, it is still available in stores ($359).

Lauren Conrad
Spotted last week at Hollywood’s exclusive Goa nightclub, Lauren Conrad exemplified perfect fashion behavior for transitioning between the seasons. LC wore a colorful and flowing dress that suggests spring, but kept the rest of her outfit and accessories black to remind us that it is indeed still winter. (The darker elements in her outfit also made the look more appropriate for nighttime.) You can get Lauren’s look by ordering Ya Ya’s Purple Print Baoli Dress ($390) and match it with a similar faux leather jacket. Lauren’s is from H&M ($49.90) but if internet shopping is more your style, we recommend Urban Outfitter’s Lux Faux Leather Jacket ($128).

Elisha Cuthbert
A qualified newbie to WWSW, Elisha Cuthbert positively glowed last week at a LA movie premiere of Trailer Park Boys. Her charming attire instantly caught the eye of our readers, and, being captivated ourselves, we sought out specifics. Perhaps out of admiration for Katharine Hepburn, Elisha opted for a classic pair of dress pants instead of the typical red carpet gown. We completely encourage this trend. While her Marni pants are no longer available, Theory’s Lydias Pant ($255) have a similar flattering shape and wide leg. Cuthbert balanced out her gamine haircut with a very girly blouse by 3.1 Phillip Lim. Unfortunately, this particular top is from a previous season, and therefore, sold out, but we came across a like-designed Lim top—the Bib Front Tuxedo Tank ($311)—that we predict you’ll love.

Peaches Geldof
A little bit of British influence goes a long way, especially when it comes to fashion, which is why we gladly present you today with one of London’s best dressed young ladies, Peaches Geldof. A familiar face to WWSW, Peaches’s keen fashion sense piqued the interest of our readers yet again. Photographed earlier this month at a launch party for British indie band, Buffalo 77, Peaches walked the press wall in winning attire. She showed her devotion to Topshop by wearing a lovely frock and beret from the chic clothing store. Her particular dress is no longer in stock, but the Self Stripe Shirt Dress ($70) is a close match and equally as darling. We, of course, applaud her beret, and are happy to inform you that her Felt Beret is still available ($24). Though it is difficult to distinguish, Miss Geldof’s shoes are actually a deep shade of purple, and we must note that it is nice to see something a little different from an expected black patent. Her Delano shoes are designed by Reiss, and they can be purchased at any Reiss boutique ($325). Lastly, Peaches incorporated some vintage into her glam-meets-girly outfit with a dapper maroon pea coat. Sadly, it is a one-of-a-kind, but we recommend Via’s Double-Breasted Coat ($138) as an alternative if you can’t find a similar vintage piece. —Jessica Amento, with additional reporting by Cory Goldstein and Lily Huber

I agree with the disgust of the Hill's girls, but I adore Audrina's sweater. Anyone willing to "burn" theirs- I will take it off your hands for you. Elisha Cuthbert looks adorably chic.

Peaches's vintage coat is ah-mazing! I love the color and cut. Also, Audrina's sweater is such a cute-quirky twist on classic. I love a cute cardigan. The H&M jacket is also really nice, and affordable! Elisha's hair is so adorable also :)

gross & grosser to lauren & audrina. we've seen it all before, really. peaches on the other hand is fabulous as is that 3.1 top.

Posted by: abby |  2008-02-01 22:21:15

i hope they still sell that leather that lauren is wearing, i have been looking for it for so long! and it's so affordable!

Posted by: diana |  2008-02-01 13:53:13

I own Audrina's sweater..... I must go burn it now.

Posted by: Taylor |  2008-01-31 23:09:06

Are you serious? LAUREN CONRAD? That is one of the most hideous dresses I've ever seen! Looks like something a suburban teenybopper might buy at a mall to wear to Junior Prom! Ugh ugh ugh get her out of here. She is in no way a style icon and who cares if Peaches Geldof is famous for having famous parents? Those Hills girls don't even have famous parents, therefore no claim to fame. Sheesh.

Posted by: Maggie |  2008-01-31 22:41:07

hey do you guys think it'll look weird(ie inappropiate) to wear black leather in the spring? how about boot/booties? I love mine. I dont think I can part ways so soon lol

Posted by: Tali |  2008-01-31 18:16:47

elisha cuthbert looks like some girl from americas next top model..i think her name was renae? anyways she loooks gorgeous & love the hair. i loooove audrina (i know, everyone hates her) i think she dresses simple but its always cute and badass except this was a bad outfit to choose to feature. i think its cool lauren was wearing an h&m jacket although she annoys me SO much, but the hills is def. a guilty pleasure of mine.

Posted by: kati |  2008-01-31 18:13:13

Wow I love Elisha Cuthberts hair, I almost didnt recognise her. A welcome new addition i think. Although the trousers may be a little loose on her. The hills girls well they can dress themselves but its hardly exciting. I like Peaches coat the colour and colour look great. However considering Peaches a celebrity that i debate!

i really dont like Laurens hair at the mo. But i love Peaches the colour is so rich and beautiful!! Gorguzz coat too!! visit my blog myohmygirl.blogspot.com

LOVE the Hills girls and their show, but these 2 outfits are not my faves...Elisha looks the best, rockin' the short hair. I've never understood the appeal of any Geldof girl- yuck.

OMG!!! I DON'T WANT TO KNOW THOSE CRAP WHAT THEY WORE!!! I NEED TO KNOW THE YELLOW SCARF OF RACHEL BILSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :@

Posted by: EP |  2008-01-31 15:10:48

why does everyone complain so much especially with the WWSW posts?? afterall, YOU guys are the ones wondering what these girls are wearing, the whole point of this post. geez girls take some midol and ease up. xoxo

Posted by: duh |  2008-01-31 14:36:04

Very tru to wht KAC said. Unless it is the clones who wear ruel, A&F, hollister, or American Eagle, (which is not popular anymore) american style varies greatly form Dallas to Seattle to Boston. And yes Micheal Kors is seen as very eastern style while Raphel Lauren is seen as southern to mid western and l.a. Has a very laid back look. So unlike brit or french style there really isn't a defined american style

Posted by: vier |  2008-01-31 14:18:01

ok, this is by far the WORST post ever. Peaches Geldof?? Are you kidding me? It doesnt take a genius to know that try-hard gets all of her crap from Topshop, everyone in London dresses like her. AND- those Hills girls? Who cares what theyre wearing! They're both common and unstylish and Lauren is so fake, her clothing line & style are a joke. I'm sorry, but I cannot take Whowhatwear seriously if you continue featuring Agyness & other common, hipster tryhards all the time

Posted by: hell |  2008-01-31 14:08:42

I love how peaches can wear stuff from topshop in public and not be ashamed of it. Its really nice to see that celebrities don't a always have to spend a fortune on their clothes to look fantastic!

Posted by: Jessica |  2008-01-31 13:42:18

I don't think there is really any specific definition of "normal American style". Unless you count all those Abercrombie/American Eagle high school/college clones that have no personal style and just follow what is on the mannequins and people that work in those stores. However, I do not think that is even a remotely accurate representation of "American style" in general. American style is so varied by things like climate, location, personality, things like that so you can't really just look at someone's outfit and say "oh her style is so american" in the way that you refer to something as being "London style" or "Brit Style" (Both of which I am a fan of). Thats really the only way I know to explain it. Although I have always heard Michael Kors designs referred to as being very "Americana".

Alice Dellal is like typical hardcore london rock chic, Im not sure about her style but shes the new up and coming "it girl" so is Jaime Winstone http://www.gettyimages.com/Search/Search.aspx?contractUrl=1&language=en-GB&family=editorial&p=jaime%20winstone&src=standard#3

I always love Audrinas style it always looks so effortless!!!

Posted by: Lucy |  2008-01-31 12:49:48

Golf clap for this post. It's truly been days since the last good post. I'm not a fan of the Hills at all, but all of these women look remarkable pulled together, very inspiring. Peaches looks impeccable.

Posted by: yes |  2008-01-31 12:27:30

to the poster Lara--checked out Alice Dellal and I wasn't impressed by her style at all!!!! She looked awful. In the pictures with her was Pixie Geldolf and she looked great, and so did a girl by the name of Poppy Delvigne! Definitely not Alice--she was gross!

Posted by: bella |  2008-01-31 11:30:47

I'm glad that lauren's leather jacket is H&M, although i just bought an expensive mike and chris one.... :( I like audrina's sweater too. I think that elisha's hair is cute! and her outfit, fabulous!

Posted by: kate |  2008-01-31 10:58:37

Why are The Hills girls on here... ugh, they don't even know how to dress. they're not fashion pioneers, they just follow the crowd. on the up side, Elisha Cutbert is flawless... and Peaches looks amazing.

Posted by: Christine |  2008-01-31 10:51:02

lauren conrads look here is prob my favorite. i like how colorful the dress is. as to your question lauren, it really depends on where you live as far as 'american' style. the hills girls are very LA though, but there are plenty of people all over who try to dress LA.

Posted by: maddi |  2008-01-31 10:23:36

yeahh LC have changed her chanel bag! love audrina's sweater

Posted by: carli |  2008-01-31 10:11:34

I would say that Lauren represents more of an LA style then normal american fashion. I don't get why she is famous either, but I love her look (and her show... I'm ashamed to admit) I def. think that Elisha C. looks better here than in other pics I've seen of her. I think her hair looks cute and is growing out a little. Much better.

Posted by: jenn |  2008-01-31 08:18:51

Because Im from London, I wanted to ask all the American bloggers on this site whether "the hills" girls represent normal american fashion or is it just La fashion?

Posted by: lauren |  2008-01-31 08:04:33

Lauren Conrad is not a fashion icon? Check out www.obsessewithclothes.blogspot.com Designer stuff 50% off and up!

I agree she is awful, check out Alice Dellal for new British it girl status http://www.gettyimages.com/Search/Search.aspx?contractUrl=1&language=en-GB&family=editorial&p=alice%20dellal&src=quick#

Shes hated because she doesnt do anything, shes famous for having famous parents and completely abuses the power. All she does is go to parties and get as many freebies as she can. She is often found demanding "Dont you know who I am? Im PEACHES GELDOF!" at bouncers of clubs she is frequently turned away from. Worst of all her mother was a loved fashion before she died and peaches looks like another topshop clone.

Posted by: elle |  2008-01-31 07:33:49

Peaches has way more style than those Hills girls. I agree, they do "pollute this otherwise fabulous blog". I have to ask though, why is Peaches the most hated girl in Britain??

Posted by: kenseeley |  2008-01-31 07:17:37

I looooove Peaches' whole outfit! That coat is divine. Whether or not she is Britain's hatest, she still dresses up nicely.

Posted by: patty |  2008-01-31 06:32:14

ugh Peaches Geldof is awful she is the most hated person in Britan and its sad she is seen as a british style icon. Pleeeassse dont feature her again! however LOVE Elishas hair
