What Was She Wearing

What Was She Wearing: Answers!

As campers, we were always thrilled when our counselors called out our names and handed us letters from friends. And while snail mail has given way to email, and our inbox is inundated with clothing queries rather than questions regarding our latest crush, we still get giddy when we hear from our fashionable and curious WhoWhatWear.com devotees. Knowing that, you can probably imagine how delighted we are to answer your many sartorial missives and present today's installment of What Was She Wearing: Answers!. Think of it as our version of a care package: filled to the brim with all of your favorite style stars and chock full of information about your most inquired-after outfits!

Diane Kruger
While promoting the Quentin Tarantino-helmed WWII flick, Inglorious Basterds at the The Regis and Kelly Show, on-screen femme fatale Diane Kruger looked fresh and fancy-free in a sweet crème frock. While we're fans of the tight bodice and voluminous skirt of her Short Sleeve Pleated Dress ($430) from Opening Ceremony, you, dear readers, really flipped for the seasonally appropriate shade of her sheath. Try ASOS' Fitted Waist Dress ($51) for a more budget-friendly ecru alternative to Kruger's chic selection; just remember to temper the light hue of the dress with tough black accessories. Kruger opted for 3.1 Phillip Lim's Edie Bow Purse with Gold Studs ($755, 310.358.1988)—an enviable and noteworthy selection from the designer's F/W 09 accessories collection—but you can also opt for ASOS' Pyramid Bag ($28) and a pair of Kimchi Blue's Woven Ballet Flats!

Agyness Deyn
Whether running around London or strolling the streets of New York, Agyness Deyn always appears at home in her collection of covetable vintage threads. While doing some shopping in New York's SoHo neighborhood earlier this month, Deyn sported one such piece, specifically a short dress featuring a tiny polka dot print. While her exact treasured find is one-of-a-kind, we can recommend Kimchi Blue's Animal Dress ($30), which comes in a look-a-like pattern and has a similar low-cut neckline. Deyn chose to complete her outfit with colorful accessories, such as Cabbage Rose's Canvas Sneakers ($20) and Katherine Fleming's Kate Shoulder Bag ($1950), but we think Topshop's Suede Tassle Shoulder Bag ($135) in blue would make an equally bold statement!

Rachel Bilson
Who What Wear: Celebrity and Runway Style for Real Life-contributor, Rachel Bilson, looked a little bit country and a little bit rock' n' roll while shopping in Los Feliz. The darling dresser combined The Gap's Gingham Shirt ($50) with a pair of Topshop studded denim cut-offs, which are unfortunately sold out. Instead, try Current/Elliott's The Boyfriend Shorts with Studs ($198) for a similarly embellished bottom option that will keep your stems looking hot and feeling cool during the remaining summer days. As for the rest of her outfit, Bilson rounded out her daytime ensemble with a pair of Mayle's two-toned peep-toe flats, Miu Miu's Nappa Quilted Bag with Studded Detail ($1595, 888.977.1900) and Etro's Printed Shopping Bag ($400, 212.317.9096). Though we love her high-end pieces, try Ralph Lauren Collection's Haylee Open-Toe Flats ($158) and Topshop's Stud Shoulder Bag ($125) to help you achieve a casually cool final result!

Leighton Meester
Leighton Meester proved that she certainly knows how to fly in style when she was spotted arriving at LAX late last week wearing some seriously high-impact accessories! Though she grounded her outfit with some sharp basics like MiH's Oslo Jeans ($235, 212.524.6790) in the Ligurian wash and Brian Atwood's Electra Boots ($813), her bright scarf and chic bags really make her outfit soar. We love her Sofia Coppola-designed Louis Vuitton Suede Asphalt Bag ($3730, 866.884.8866) and Nina Ricci's Agneau Pleated Besace Bag ($2750); however, if you are looking for something a little more wallet-friendly, try Christopher Kon's Rope Handle And Tassel Bag ($198). In non-bag news, Meester also wisely wore an oversized paisley scarf from Louis Vuitton to combat any overzealous in-flight air conditioning. Though her exact piece isn't being produced for retail, we like Marc Jacob's Large Woven Cashmere Scarf ($450), which has similar frayed edges and a lovely floral print as her designer pick, or try Old Navy's Multi Printed Scarf ($13) for an equally chic alternative to her hard-to-find cover up.—KM

I looooove Rachel Bilson's outfit! I could do without her Etro Shopping Bag, but I guess practically matters here (although $400 is a little steep). Love her Miu Miu bag. Melissa www.twitter.com/melissak85

I think Leighton Meester is where it is at. She is always wears the perfect blend of trends and classics. I love that scarf! I kind of agree with what elle said about Bilson being a predictable with that outfit, although I am a huge Bilson fan. 365fashionrehab.blogspot.com

The Opening Ceremony dress Diane Kruger is wearing is the exact dress Alexa Chung wore when she interviewed her this past Monday. Maybe they swap clothes? I like how Alexa wore better though. With little black Channel booties and a belt.

Yes that's true what you're saying, Caitlin. But that's what I like about Rachel. She always wears simple pieces which you could easily wear... But Meester's outfit is the best I think.

Rachel Bilson always looks nice but her outfits are usually really simple and safe and this is no exception, so I'm not thaaat inspired. Out of the other ones I only like Meester's.

I love Rachel Bilson and Leighton Meester here. Love everything they're wearing!
