We are always receptive to any and all types of glistening objects, but we tend to pay extra attention to them towards the end of the year. What with shiny wrapping paper, twinkling holiday lights, and fresh coats of shimmering snow (for some) on the ground, luster is all around us! We approve all of this atmospheric glitz and feel that it is very appropriate to incorporate some equally glittery items into your winter wardrobes. As such, we've decided it's high time to spotlight our favorite festive embellishment: sequins! To illustrate our affection for this attention-getting material, we rounded up a few excellent examples from the international style community. One look at the way these ladies work sequined dresses, pants, and hats into their already chic closets, and we're sure you'll succumb to the twinkle, too!
We'd like to start the celebrity example portion of today's razzle dazzle
Trend Report with a young woman who seems to love her sequins—Zoe Kravitz. The darling dresser has worked the shiny disks into lots of looks lately, including the outfit she wore last week to the Keep a Child Alive Black Ball in New York. Kravitz was spotted wearing a black sequined dress from
Rare Vintage, slouchy black Yves Saint Laurent beanie, bold retro clutch, and Dior's
Miss Dior Peep Toe Pumps ($590, in silver). Her outfit reminds us that a sparkly frock is a refreshing alternative to a plain little black dress, especially during the holidays.
Other praiseworthy stylistas recently seen wearing sequins include Lindsay Lohan and soon-to-be-reality-star, Olivia Palermo. Palermo attended the Whitney Museum of Art Gala last month wearing a Bryan Reyes
Embroidered Slim Skirt ($4995), Rebecca Taylor top and jacket, Lia Sophia Necklace, and YSL
Tribute Sandal Platforms ($760). Lohan, on the other hand, captivated at London's Notting Hill Arts club in Topshop's Bronze Harlequin Vest (sold out, but try Topshop's
Sequin Harlequin Dress, $170) and black faux fur coat.
Another shimmering style we definitely want to steal is the lustrous mini dress and oversized
blazer combo
Agyness Deyn displayed at a GQ/Burberry dinner in London. The fusion was equal parts sexy, fun, and relaxed—a combo Deyn pulled off perfectly. Our final celebrity muse for today is the effortlessly glamorous, Diane Kruger. Kruger showed up at an after party for Madonna's film,
Filth and Wisdom, wearing a flowy, sequin-detailed dress from Chloe's fall collection paired with bright red lipstick and a classically curled hairstyle. In sum, it was a modern ode to old Hollywood and a tremendously glam outfit overall.
If you are mesmerized by these dazzling looks, then you will relish the bundle of glistening apparel currently on the market! A Daughters of the Revolution
Sequin Vest

($275) and Bebe's
Full Sequin Tuxedo Jacket ($219) are both very Agyness Deyn and will add a flirtatious and eccentric vibe to any outfit. However, you may be after something a little sexier, like Express'
Sequin Leggings (a festive/unexpected alternative to your plain black Kova & T pairs) or Mint Jodi Arnold's
Dixie Sequined Miniskirt

($275). Victoria's Secret also makes a fantastic, inexpensive
Sequin Skirt

($78) as an alternative. There are countless ways to include a little twinkle in your outfits on a daily basis, but our favorite accessories for doing this are Topshop's
Sequin Beret ($32), Kate Moss for Topshop's
Sequined Clutch ($80), and Oh Deer!'s
Blackberrie Pumps
($98). If you've been extra good this year, reward yourself with Herve Leger's
Sequin Bandage Dress
($2800) and let your sequins shine, dear readers!—Jessica Amento

I swear my friends made fun of my tendency to over-glitter everything for years, and all of a sudden it's hot again. I'll wear em then, now, and when they're out (if). I obviously had to write about it. http://celebritymusthave.wordpress.com/2009/10/12/celebrities-sparkles-in-black-and-gold-sequins-lauren-conrad/

I love this! I can't stay away from sequins. I think they're so much fun. I just bought a really cute, really cheap sequin dress at Forever21 that actually appears to be of decent quality. www.shinylittlethings.com

I agree with Stephanie, for the first time EVER I actually like, in this case love, something Agyness is wearing, and I think she looks great. It is nice to see the sequin trend continuing, but in a more individual and less in-your-face way.

For once...I can see myself in what Agyness is wearing. I love her look here and it just makes me want to find a long black tuxedo blazer to pair over my sequin minis!
